Remember that MLS always suck at away games. In the four previous CCL knockout phases combined, MLS teams went 5W-6D-2L (+6GD) at home but 0W-3D-10L (-24GD) away. All three MLS-vs-other matches played so far by MLS teams were played away, so 0W-1D-2L (-2GD) really is entirely in line with MLS' general away form. =edit= Hang on, I have 15 home games and 13 away in my quick count there.... It should be 14 each, so I clearly mis-attributed one game. Gonna go back and try to find what I did wrong, but point still stands. =edit2= stats are corrected, it's actually 13 games each, I had somehow added an extra W and extra D in the home form while somehow getting the GDs correct....
I assume most of those losses were against LMX teams. This time no LMX teams, they lost to teams from Salvador and Panama. Pathetic.
They've played LMX more, for sure, but even if you split that 0-3-10 away record into LMX vs non-LMX, it's still a pretty steady pattern, and arguably *better* when playing against LMX teams: 0-3-7 (0.3PPG) in Mexico 0-0-3 (0.0PPG) in Central America (1 to Panama, 2 to CRC) And losses to El Slavador in El Slavador weren't uncommon in previous group phases, either.
Anyone think that MLS should play the 1st stage against Caribbean sides instead of getting automatic advancement?
Other than scrolling down to uploads, you can find the most recent videos by clicking on "VIDEOS" at the top. 1 minute of highlights is too short. CCL highlights used to be longer. UEFA has 11.7 times as many YouTube subscribers as CONCACAF.
Might have something to do with TV contracts - Univisión Deportes has longer highlights on its Youtube channel.
Mls gonna give Mexico a scare next round. Except the Ferrari of course. The Oribester is gonna have Dallas for lunch @Footsatt @USAsports6 @bballshawn
"Fun" fact: Dallas have never held a clean sheet against Tauro in any of the 4 CCL matches between the two sides, and now have a good chance at going winless in those 4. Dallas on life support now.
Dallas is awful. I mean, they are slow, turn the ball over in awful areas, and don't seem to have any attacking thrust. It appears they are going to rely on individual moments of brilliance all year.
The league starts in 3 days... Eventually the excuses will wear thin, especially with how Concacaf has done everything in their power to give MLS the upper hand.
Like Liga MX didn't complain about preseason form during the old Superliga... ...oh wait, they didn't. They just went and won the damn thing 3 out of 4 times for the hell of it
So Tauro will fly the flag for Central America from here on out, while only half the U.S. teams involved survived the R16. The quarterfinals, with the team hosting the second leg listed first: --- Chivas de Guadalajara (MEX) vs. Seattle Sounders (USA) New York Red Bulls (USA) vs. Xolos de Tijuana (MEX) Tigres UANL (MEX) vs. Toronto FC (CAN) Tauro (PAN) vs. Club América (MEX) --- We're a couple of weeks away from learning the potential order of games for the semifinals...but FWIW, the only team left with a perfect record is Chivas.
Forgive me...Alianza Lima was playing, so I jumped back into the CCL games after everything was done in Lima
Which of the other half of the MLS didn't make past R16? The only one was Dallas and they played awful! If they got beat by Tauro, the way America is playing would have humiliate them. The game that intrigues me the most for the next round is Tigres vs Toronto. On paper it "should" be good but Tigres is doing good in Liga MX. Add that to Toronto barely starting in its league, I just don't see the outcome close at all.
How many MLS teams has Tauro eliminated now in direct elimination rounds? 2 or 3? I remember Tauro taking out Chivas USA in qualifying many years ago.
Lol true. But technically there are 5 MLS teams not 4. I know, I know, Toronto represents Canada but either way it is still an MLS team.
Tauro's participations: 2018: Eliminated FCD in R16 2014: Bottomed out in DCU's 3-team group, taking 0pts 2012: Bottomed out in RSL's 3-team group, taking 0pts 2011: Bottomed out in FCD/TOR's 4-team group, taking 4pts from FCD in the process 2010: Lost in qualifying to Marathon 2008: Beat Chivas USA in qualifying, then lost on tiebreaks to PRI in the 4-team group So they've only eliminated 2 MLS teams directly, (and Chivas USA was a joke anyway,) but they contributed heavily to eliminating FCD another time as well.
