The Crew looked really good today. Also, Ola Kamara looks like a HANDFUL for the Galaxy. He scored 2 more in a 4-2 loss to San Jose. Bingham looked TERRIBLE.
Bingham as the solution to the Galaxy woes in goal seems wildly optimistic to me based on how often he looked downright poor for SJE last year.
I need to check the Red Bulls lineup for this game against Houston tonight ... cuz they are getting WAXED by the Dynamo 5-0 at the moment. If they play like this vs Olimpia next Thursday, we wont have to worry about the 2nd leg.
Scrub City. Full USL team. The tweet announcing the starting XI even came from RBII: Starting XI 🆚 @HoustonDynamo Moreno, White, MinesTinari, Echevarria, AguinagaDe Vera, Politz, Scarlett, Stevens Louro #RBNY | #HOUvNY pic.twitter.com/cch1mOCCMG— New York Red Bulls II (@NYRBII) February 18, 2018
Whitecaps beat the Las Vegas Lights of the USL 3-2. Alphonso Davies had a nice end to end goal in the match...
Indeed. The first goal went right through him. That said,in his defense, he made nice initial saves on goals 2 and 3 which were put in on the rebound. It didn’t help that the Galaxy reverted to 2017 defensive form. I think our new right back (Feltcher) was exposed as not good enough. For sure that was true yesterday.
Didn't he kick the ball in off of an attacking player on goal 3? He was terrible. But yes, the Galaxy defense was shoddy, at best. But your guys are going to score some goals this year.
Zardes with another 2 goals today, so far. Zardes scoring for the Crew and Kamara scoring for the Galaxy, all preseason long. Could this be a trade that neither team regrets?
Anyone else watch this team ski event and think the tiebreak rules are idiotic. There are 4 skiers on each team (2 men and 2 women) who ride down a slalom course against another team riding down on a parallel course. The first person down gets the point. The men face men and women face women. If the score is tied at 2-2, then the tie-breaker is taking the time of the fastest male and fastest female of each team and comparing them. What's the point of 4 riders, they might as well make it 2 v 2 if the tiebreak is the fastest male and female combined. If a team of 4 beats another team of 4, they should qualify In speed skating, the time is counted when the last person crosses the line. A high school cross country race is determined by the last scoring person crossing the line.
Doing the combined time of all 4 racers as a tiebreak would make sense (that's the equivalent of the total goals tiebreaker soccer uses) but not just 2 v 2.
Agreed, in both cases. I did like the mixed doubles curling though and I'm curious about the speed skating mass start will see this weekend (the other two new events this cycle). TBF I like the format the X Games uses for big air but here it was very...plain.
As a follow up for those who care. Apparently, they take the fastest times because the slowest person could have lost due to missing a gate so he/she would be a "DNF/DQ". I still think it should be the sum total of all four or the worst two as the tiebreaker. If you DNF, then your team deserves to fail. The primary objective of the game is to finish the course, the second is to finish fastest. You can't finish fastest without completing the course.
Or they could have a default time assigned to those who DNF. 10% worse than the worse run in the qualifiers or something. (Like the 3-0 rule for forfeiting).
I disagree they're taking one boss trick and putting a lot of air under it and pushing the limits. I liked the woman's event a lot more. I was very interested in Anna Gasser and she did not disappoint.
