The best Pele (1962-65) must be measured with the best Maradona (1986-89), unfortunately there is little information from the Brazilian for a statistical comparison.
The comparison between Pele 1970 and Maradona 1986, seems to us the most just. Both were the same age (29 years), they were already consecrated, they still maintained a great level and Opta Sports has provided specific information.
    PELE 1970 vs MARADONA 1990
    OFFENSIVE
    Pele, 6 games, 4 goals + 6 assists = 10
    Maradona, 7 games, 0 goals + 2 assists = 2
    PASSES
Pele, passes per game=41.5; Passing Accuracy=83.9%; Passing Accuracy opp.half =78.2%
Maradona, passes per game=33.5; Passing Accuracy=71.2%; Passing Accuracy opp.half =59.7%
    CHANCES CREATED
    Pele, 28 = 4.7 per game
    Maradona, 16 = 2.1 per game
    DRIBBLES
    Pele, 16 dribbles/6 games= 2.7 dribbles per game
    Maradona, 14 dribbles/7 games = 2.0 dribbles per game
    SHOTS
    Pele, 28 = 4.7 per game
    Maradona, 16 = 2.1 per game
    TACKLES WON
    Pele, 9 = 1.5 per game
    Maradona, 9 = 1.3 per game
The difference in favor of Pelé is abysmal, better in goals, assists, dribbles, created chances, shots and passes.

Not true duh, Garrincha was better than Mister Mastercard in 1958 and 1962, yes Mister Mastercard counts 1962 too. Rivellino, Jairzinho, the whole 1970 team was better than Mister "I did not miss once but TWICE for OPEN goal" Mastercard.
