I genuinely thought Macnelly was going to sign again with Junior

I did not watch the game last night but I did watch the extended highlights.
Santa Fe was a bit unfortunate not to score a few goals hit the post a few times and good saves by the opposing keeper.

But they did what that had to do. They really did not have to do more than get a 0-0 after scoring three goals on the road and winning.

Let's see how they do in the next match.

Santa Fe really flexing their muscle last night to make it into the Group stage of the Libertadores.

You could tell early on that the Uruguayans did not have a chance. They looked drained in the first 15 minutes. (I assume due to the altitude) Santa Fe made them pay.

You are correct. My mistake. Either way they looked so tired in the first 20 minutes.

How are the knockout rounds decided. Looks like they just make us play worse countries. Or is it a distance thing.

Thought Copa Sudamericana usually has us play Venezuelan or Peruvian teams to qualify

I am not sure. It is way better than how it used to be though when they put all the Colombian teams in the same Group. That was stupid.

Anyway, Santa Fe's Group will still have some Colombian Flavor with River and Flamengo .

From the 1970s and until the late 1990s, only champions and 2nd place teams from each country advanced (and there were year long tournaments), and the groups were made of two countries, meaning that for example, Nacional and Millos would play Boca and River, or Santos and Gremio. They started adding more teams and mixing up more countries but there was a point were early round qualifiying teams could end up in a group with a club from their same country, like if Yunio o Santafue ended with Millos or Nacional. That sucked.

Overall, I agree the format is better, but at this point, I think way too many teams participate, specially in the early rounds. IMHO opinion, they should give each country 3 berths, 1 to the defending champion and 1 to the best performing association from last tournament. You want an early round? 4 teams per country plus defending champ, 23 teams advance directly, the other 18 have a playoff to decide the other 9 teams in group phase. 3 early rounds is waaaay too many.

they played this weird high line too, constantly got killed on the break by Plata and Morelo, they had a ton of one on ones and clear cut opportunitites that did not go in. Could have easily have ended 5,6-0

They improved with Quintero...but he played too much time (35 or something)...so he was tired at the end

I don’t see how River destroyed Boca. Hope the Colombian teams turn stuff around. Think Junior is done but hope Millos, Santa Fe and Nacional make it out of the group.

Junior has to knock out boca they have 4 points. junior 0 points and -4 goals. Brazilian team has 6

Millos has 1 point. 2 other teams 3, 1 has 4. They got a shot

Santa Fe is tied for 2nd. And flamego isn’t anything special.

Helberto Palacios doing pretty good for Nacional. Know a lot of people make him sound like the midget Benetiz that Pinto loved

Santa Fe lost seven domestic games out of twelve but tied River at the Monumental. Go figure.

Rufai actually had a heck of a match. That to me was the most surprising part. :p

Good draw in Argentina. Kinda makes up for the point they had at home against Emelec. But it was an ugly game by both teams overall.

idk I thoroughly enjoyed the Santa Fe match. That backline was impenetrable.
