Stats like that are we he cost so much despite never scoring more than 6 goals in a season. He gives his teams so much length and relief.

I feel like this will be his best season yet; Koln's a bit better of a squad than he's used to.

Yes, I could see German technical directors and General Managers using analytics like that to reason why he is worth more than just the goals he scores.
Slowly but surely statistical analytics are permeating into soccer like they have in American sports.

Is true that forwards can be good despite they don't score

But come on !! the ideal stage and More if you play as 9 Is to score or improve the scoring rate ..

For that reason nobody can pay for duvan zapata the 30 millions they ask

Score goals is important to become a complete forward

I hope Córdoba start to scoring more goals this season

Everything has a context and there are different variables that go into each case.
Sometimes it is difficult for players to get into a rhythm if they are left out there on an island without good service. Especially if they face other teams that have 70-80% of possession.

I think we all agree that some players find a way no matter what odds are against them and some have cold blood along with more aforementioned finesse. Cordoba is just not like that unfortunately.

I just would like to see what Cordoba can do with a team that provides more to help him out since most of his career in Europe he has played on teams that are little pigs as my dad would say.
He does not have a partner up front to help him out most of the time and the service to him is not that great.

I thought he was better then Zapata but then got hurt. Unless he has a godlike 2nd half of the season he is an after Russia NT player.

I hope he has a good enough second half of the season that he doesn’t go down with Koln when they get relegated.

It would be interesting to see if Zapata can play next to Cordoba in a friendly in the future. No defensive back line wants to see those two big bulky dudes running straight at them. It would be one of the most intimidating striking pairs on earth.

When it comes to physique and brute strength both of those guys are pretty intimidating.

I don't remember Pinto having players like Duvan and Cordoba running at defenders.

Edixon Perea was his favorite and he justify with the same reason...because his physique......and for that reason he alternated him with rodallega, valoyes, wason, polo, wason, carmelo. milton rodriguez.......

and omore techniques strikers like falcao and dayro was used with media press.

african national teams have in their pair of strikers also very physique players (that play in europe) and isnt like defense are very intimidated....actually the results are not the better.

Actually a defense is more intimidated by forwards with good positioning and dribbling.........agaisnt physique players??? actually that is the game that they proposed so good for them.

For some matches players with that charasteristics are useful but used with another type of player...

To your first point Perea was nowhere near as physically intimidating as either one of these guys.

I am not talking about African teams. I am talking about Colombian teams. African teams usually are not as organized when it comes to the attack and do not have the consistent midfield play to link up with their strikers. It is more Pelotazo.

Yes, positioning is important I agree. Duvan has that part of the game down very well from what I have seen. Cordoba not so much.
But at the end of the day what my point is when you have physical forwards it takes its toll on a defense physically and I rarely have seen Colombia play with that sort of striking pair. It would be nice for me to see it in a friendly if not this cycle the next cycle.

Also on set pieces in the future with guys like Duvan, Cordoba, Mina, Davinson in the area no one wants to try and mark all those bodies. It will be physically draining.

Yeah Duvan is abolsutley better than Perea...cordoba at the point is with a very similar career..........but in characteristics are vvery similar....

copa america 2007 and wcq 2010 would be a good option of videos to watch physical fowards playing with colombia

I watched every game and I did not see Perea play as physical as you are depicting. Also Rodallega was not as physical either.
In 2010 we had a bunch of different players and no consistency.
