No. It has really increased in frequency for me. Both on Chrome and (now) Safari. I use an iPhone 6S. The only website that these pop-ups happen for me is BigSoccer. It's always "You've won a gift card to Walmart or Amazon or something like that."
Thanks for saving us from having to do a roll call of who has and has not been surfing porn on their phones! Samsung Galaxy S7, Android 7.0.0, Chrome 58.0.3029.83 checking in with the issue. There is an update to Chrome available, I'll try that, then try the instructions in the link posted by Allez RSL.
I still get a redirect once every other day or so. It's not every time I load a BS page, though, so it's manageable.
1. Updated to Chrome 63.0.3239.111. No luck. 2. Cleared browsing data: No luck. It would not clear bigsoccer data no matter how much I tried, username still populated. 3. Went to Site Settings --> Cookies --> unchecked Allow third party cookies: No luck, bigsoccer refuses to log in if you've done this. 4. Rechecked it: back to browser hijacking popups. No more bigsoccer on the phone for me.
That fix to the Chrome settings in Allez Rsl's post, above, has worked for me so far. I'll let you know if it stops working.
So.. sounds like BS needs to talk to whomever is pushing their advertising about allowing ads that do the rogue redirects?
Well, it stopped working ~ 1/19/18 while I was out of town, only using my Android. I had to do the same old routine (Force Stop, then clear cache in Storage) to get it back working again. Since then it has been giving me messages that it has been stopping re-directs while I am online, but ONLY WHILE ON BIGSOCCER! What is the ********ing deal with BigSoccer?!?!?!?
I occasionally use it, but a lot of threads have embedded items like tweets that don't show in tapatalk/BS app.
I was reading comments on a deadspin article today (I was only on the page trying to find directions to get off of it), and there was a poster complaining about getting constant redirects there. So it's not just BS.
There should be a law for one day in jail for each iteration of this crime. Mother********ers would be getting 1000 year sentences.
Try this fix from @Allez RSL: The link, above, has mostly worked for me - only one relapse so far. It is still irritating that this happens so much on BigSoccer. Others may see it on other websites, but this is the only site that this shit happens on, for me.
One thing that, well, it doesn’t work, but it substantially reduces the pain in the assness of it, is to leave the pop up there and just open a new tab.
using ios none of that makes any improvement. its ridiculously bad, does wholly make the site unusable.
