Can't remember the start time of the momentous comeback vs. Brazil 6 months ago but Alyssa was battling the sunset during the 2nd half....something to watch for. BTW, Beachhead established.....5 hours and 26 minutes to Sports Utopia.
Regarding Davidson, all that matters is what will be best long-term for the WNT. That includes Davidson as a prospect. I wonder what she would say if asked, "Where would you rather be, for purposes of your long-term development as a player?"
Who is the US woman's coach now? She sounds like an Aussie? How tall is she? Seriously, she looks a lot more physically imposing that any of the US girls....
I have no doubt that personally Davidson, whether she gets capped or not, got more out of Jan Camp than being with the 20s. Im not so sure that u can cherry pick individual players success and say look we're developing players. For me a better test of whether US development is working is the team performance at U20 & U17 WC. Based on the huge number of girls and young women we have playing in this country we should be competitive every two years when these events roll out. While Im personally curious to see Davidson play, in all honesty Id rather see Sonnett get rewarded for her NWSL play than see Ellis reach for another really young player. As someone who was in the restaurant business for a long time I can say it's better if ur patient and wait till it's done. Im guessing Ellis is a lousy cook.
I watch the 2nd half of that one a lot for the feels but that match is a study on how not to tend goal. Take out Andressinha's beautiful free kick and the ball Ertz scored to end the rally and the rest was dismal. The bobble by Naeher and a goal off a deflection in the first half. The US leaving a 6' player unmarked on the back post on a corner. And Barbara getting beat twice in a row on the near post while she was hugging the post. Yikes!
3 catches for Ertz on that TD drive. That was a pretty obvious pick play to create that last catch for him.
That was some bad set piece defending by Denmark. Ertz gets a really nice goal after a way too easy header by Davidson in the box.
Jamaica finally scored. The US is fortunate not to be losing... and of course the US answers almost immediately.
Impressive performance by the US -- except for that one set piece. Looks to me like the US is carrying out a two sided attack -- instead of just going up the left side which has been the usual. Pugh has been good on the right side. We haven't seen much of Smith at right back. Too early to make a judgement on whether Davidson might compete for a center back spot, but she looked good in that first half.
Denmark is not technical enough to play out of the pressure that the US puts on. Plus their goalkeeper is awful. Decent play from the US, especially from their right side. They should be winning by more than 2-1 though
