Garcia resigned from St. Etienne. The 3 big foreign coaches who came in this year (Ranieri, Beisla, and Garcia) Garcia and Ranieri had little means at their clubs. Biesla was given 70m to spend which is more than what Nantes and St Etienne spent total. Lille has little in common with those clubs, they have more in common with RC Lens. So the moral is Biesla screwed up, Garcia wasnt given the proper means to succeed, and Ranieri is just a great coach who transcends all.
Michael Emenalo (ex Chelesa) is the new Monaco sporting director. Seems like a good idea on paper but wondering how he's gonna deal with the philosophy change since the 2 clubs have very different strategies and views on signing players.
If Lille go down, any chance that they could experience a drop like Bastia did? I didn't even know they were having financial troubles, but that somewhat explains their squad, as well as keeping Bielsa around despite their record. Firing him costs money, so no sense paying for two head coaches if you don't have to.
Who was the guy in French media who said Lille's "project" was better than Marseille's "project?" On the Marseille forums they mentioned his name but I forgot.
I think anything's possible but politics are always involved. They have no problem sending Bastia down for obvious reasons, meanwhile Lens have been saved from going down further due to "politics."
Bielsa signs a "new" contract with Lille. Btw the average age of Lille is 22... Is that the youngest ever in Ligue Un?
^ I have no idea where I would be able to find that info. Btw, Strasbourg is doing exceptionally well for a promoted club with no names.
Top 5 best and worst summer transfers in no particular order. Best - Mariano, Luis Gustavo, Thauvin, Tatarusanu, Amavi Worst - Abdennour, Mitroglou, Sneijder, Jovetic, Lois Diony Mariano, 3rd in league is scoring Luis Gustavo, boss of the midfield and the team leader Tatarusanu, indepsensible on a team that doesnt score much. Thauvin, indespensible to Marseille's success. Amavi so good able to end Evra's career Mitroglou, 15m signing, Germain moved past him in pecking order Abdennour, getting beat out by Rolando for first team. Sneijder, still hurt and cant establish himself in the first team Jovetic, cant establish himself in the first team Diony 9m signing, expensive for ASSE, brought into score and cant score
Christophe Galtier is the new Lille coach. I think its obvious this "project" is a joke but maybe he sees something we dont know. He did play for them back in the day.
Wesley Sneijder flees to Qatar. I have kinda lost respect for him quiting like that. Wasn't pushed out as far as I know, but was told he could leave if we wanted. http://www.goal.com/en/news/wesley-sneijder-leave-nice-qatar/1i3h5rdx4vlulz64actoeqj4x
Vincent Koziello of Nice just signed with Cologne in Germany. Must be a sign of how far his stock has fallen. Medizincheck wohl bestanden. Hier kommt Vincent #Koziello mit Berater und Teambetreuer von der Untersuchung! #Effzeh pic.twitter.com/hRr3ZsYDZB— BILD 1. FC Köln (@BILD_FC) January 15, 2018
St. Etienne picking up ex Ligue 1 players Yann M'Vila and Paul-Georges Ntep. Should help them stave off relegation.
I noticed he never found a permanent place in the 1st team under Favre. Maybe he can flourish under another coach in a different system.
I actually liked the hired, hopefully Poyet can bring something new and inject some needed new energy into this Bordeaux team.
Southampton paid 22 m for Guido Carilllo who is basically Monaco's 3rd striker. EPL keeps on distorting the transfer market. UEFA should think about kicking them out. Ridiculous to pay that much for that player. Clearly a non refusable offer because its so absurd.
