It's too late now. We need to stick with our current defenders and hope they find organization and breakthrough by WC. It's likely not happening but that's our only hope right now. Defense needs consistency and chemistry to get good.

    And a brain.

KYK, HJH and JHS are just shy of being brain dead.

A defensive combo between Hong Jeong-ho, Kim Young-gwon, and Jang Hyun-soo is just begging for another Algeria scenario again.

We should have gotten rid of these deadweights years ago after the 2014 WC.

Exactly. I don't see how they are continue to be called up. They're ********ing garbage and it only makes sense they play for garbage leagues.

We should've experimented with defenders years ago and developed defensive line. We didn't. No time and no options at this point.

I'm positive that Kim Minjae will make the defense looks more solid. But we need a play ball CB next to him.

Yes, we need more domestic leaguers to be in the national team not players who play for Chinese and Malta leagues. They should make it a rule forbidding players to represent Korea who play in leagues where the home country didn't qualify for the world cup. I'm almost convinced that a player's skill and football IQ would only atrophy over time if a player decides to play for inferior leagues.

You're being sarcastic, right? Cause otherwise no one playing in Serie A, Eredivisie would be allowed to play. I don't dispute the other points you make though, particularly your point about Maltese leagues.

Sorry, European leagues or maybe leagues whose home country has qualified consistently for the world cup would be an exception. :)

So you're basically talking about China, Qatar and UAE? Cause I am sure you're not thinking of barring Ki (Wales) or HHC (Austria) or definitely not Suk if he were still playing in Turkey or Hungary.

I really don't get the vitriol against players who play in these "garbage leagues." There is no moral imperative in deciding where to play and earn a living or whether you should make such choices based on the perceived good of the national team. These players, with very short professional careers, make choices that work best for them and their families. KNT calls up players based on what works best for the team. And everyone involved knows the potential implications of those choices. And once we understand and respect those choices, I see no need for teeth gnashing.

I never said players can't play where ever they want, I just said that players who choose to play for bad leagues should know that it should be a factor in getting chosen for the national team; I don't think it will hurt them financially. Anyway, it was only a suggestion. For instance, for every player like Suk who chooses to go overseas, I'm afraid we may overlook or miss a player from K-League. Of course, giving Suk a chance paid off but I can't help thinking there might be better options. It just feels like a toss-up when the Chinese based players are consistently doing badly. Maybe there should be some limit of games allowed to play for the national team before allowing someone else who's never had a chance to prove himself.

you know we are desperate when Kim Min Jae who made two appearances is our lord and savior at central defense.

He played well, but I would temper our expectations. I hope he is our solution but far from being a proven thing. He's 21 years old and will remain 21 when we arrive to Russia.

Earn a living wage? Then the players should have known better not to become an athlete. Let's put this into perspective, if Ki played in China, Qatar, Japan, etc and his form drops drastically, then you would know the difference.

you are a dumbass. "Players should have known better not to become an athlete". These athletes start playing the sport when they are young; money isn't exactly on their minds at their young age. They follow their passion. Most of them think they can be successful and make a good living. They love the sport. That's why they enter the profession and to most of them, it's the only thing they ever wanted to do.

I have told you this 15 times yet your dumbass can't seem to comprehend. Go away. You contribute nothing to this place, you BETA xenophobic idiot.

^ ??? This is a forum, you silly child. There is no need to spread your bias, liberal agenda. The whole point of having a forum is to listen to other people's PERSPECTIVES and gather your own assumptions through facts and discussions. If you don't like what I'm saying, you are welcome to leave but using vulgar words only makes you look like a total loser. Facts aren't linear as some of you idiots like to believe. The concept of truth is harsh and brutal to grasp, but that is reality.

LMAO. Yeah I don't like what you are writing, so I'm responding to you. Don't talk about vulgar words when your dumbass got red carded awhile back. Your perspectives and opinions aren't that; it's a ramblings of a dumbass racist.

You continue to come here and say the same sh*t over and over. Say something original for once. We get it; you live your life in complete fear over sh*t you can't even control. Dumbass high school kid, I swear.

Well a lot of players are leaving CSL anyways so there won't be much to worry about for some of you.
There's mainly fringe players like Kim Juyoung, Kim Keehee, and Hwang Ilsu. There are two "KNT regulars" like Jung Wooyoung and Kwon Kyungwon. Hwang Seokho left to J-leaegue and both Kim Younggwon and Hong Jeongho will most likely leave as well.
Not many players in the ME as well, I can only think of NTH that is about "KNT calibre".

ConcernedBetaK also hates players going to the J-League, which is a league that's on par with the K-League. So his comments are coming from a xenophobic "perspective"

I don't mind J-league because European teams scout that league a lot. It's also a way to expend on playing times for young players. In fact one of the benefit of having any players to different leagues is that it gives more opportunities for young players in the K-league. I'll rather have them get more playing time and development than having some shitty players taking their spots.

It would be much simpler to not pick bad players, since that's what this really comes down to.

Exactly. I don't think it's necessarily a matter of which league the players play in, rather how well they fit into the NT/how they perform on NT. I'd rather have 11 CSL players who can win than 11 EPL players who can't score or defend. We haven't seen this occur yet, but who says it won't ever happen.

Just because there are a few members on this forum that criticize players for playing in some "undesirable" leagues doesn't mean that we all criticize the players for the same reason.

I could care less where those players play. They could make millions playing in China/Middle East for all I care.

Some of us criticize them because they are CONSISTENTLY TERRIBLE with the national team. I know a good number of you guys have been watching the national team for years now and you know how bad they are. It's not the first they have been with the national team and they deserve the criticism.

Also, these guys aren't even setting the Chinese league/Middle East leagues on fire either, so I don't know why you some of you guys think they warrant a NT call up in the first place. Hong Jeong-ho, Kim Young-gwon, and Jang Hyun-soo (when he was playing in China) all struggled to get playing time, were out of form, and or were injured most of the time, but they consistently got called up. Because of the new foreign rule in the Chinese league, they couldn't even make the bench at times. Nam Tae-hee is the only one that I know of that is actually doing pretty well in the Middle East. But it doesn't matter if the "Qatar Messi" can't emulate 1/3 of what he does in the Qatar league with the NT. The same goes with the likes of Kim Ki-hee, Jung Woo-young, and Koh Myung-jin. They add nothing to the NT and we've seen enough of them. There are hundreds to thousands of players working their asses off get a chance with the NT only to get ignored for some player that struggles to even make it to the bench for their (Middle East/Chinese) clubs/are injured most of the time (ex: Kim Young-gwon). These guys going back to the K-League/J. League/Europe is not going to change my opinion about them.
