EAFF tomorrow.....In view of the importance of the game tomorrow, with the exception of Saki Kumagai and Kumi Yokoyama is it reasonable to presume that tomorrows team will be pretty close to what Takakura san considers her best eleven (plus subs) as of December 2017...... or will she experiment further?
I've got the feeling that she could have tried Yamashita, if she hadn't been injured, because I don't think she clearly identified the starting GK yet (a longtime problem for Nadeshiko Japan); I anyway don't think that she wants to try Matsumoto (although you never know, actually: she probably called her for a reason, although that's probably living the experience of a Senior training camp). Had Hasegawa been available, I guess she would have been a starter. I anyway expect something along the lines of: Ikeda Manya Sameshima Miyake Oya ??? Utsugi Sakaguchi Nakajima Iwabuchi Tanaka Consider I am not saying it will be a straight 4-4-2. It could be a 4-3-3, a 4-2-3-1 or even a 4-1-4-1 as in the game vs China: I am just saying these could be the potential "best eleven" starters for me. The "???" I have put in the midfield should have been Hasegawa: who's going to take her place? Could be Nakasato, as in the China game, but I predict Haji (possibly in a more advanced position, for a sort of 4-3-3) or Momiki. If Japan wants to be really offensive to make-up for our lack of goals, could even be Sugasawa or Ueno, but frankly I don't see them as starters. Of course, there could be big changes in defense, if Takakura wants to play Sameshima in a different role (Full-Back or winger), but I guess she wants to try her as a CB for the whole tournament, to better assess if it's a reasonable move for the future. I guess that the fact that Nakajima was rested on the bench for quite an hour vs South Korea is a further indication that she should start vs PRK (along with the fact that she's one of our key players and, in my opinion, a lock-in for our supposed "best eleven"). In this article about the China match on the JFA website, Takakura says: "It was excellent that we won the match 1-0. We have a tight schedule and, seeing some new players in good form, I decided to change few starting players from the first game". In my opinion these "new players" who are not going to be starters vs North Korea should be Sumida, Naomoto and possibly Nakasato. I like to read what some players say, since it seems to somehow confirm my views. Sakaguchi: "As I took on a more attacking role today as central midfielder, I should have got more involved in the attacking plays as well"; I had said before that, in a 4-1-4-1 formation, Sakaguchi had to be a more attacking role, as in Beleza. Iwabuchi: "Taking about myself, I had at least two excellent chances to score and should have taken advantage of them". Yes, that's what I wrote after seeing highlights, Mana. But we love you anyway and you were great. Mina Tanaka: "I did well when I scored the goal, but lost possession often as well". * nods * And your converting ratio must get better, Mina. Tomorrow, I'll be most likely still at work (or on my way back from work) when the game will start, but I should connect around the first half hour of the game and watch all of the rest. As usual, I'll appreciate if I'll find a good streaming feed when I get home.
I doubt she is going to leave the country. Not sure what the issues were in Germany but it is possible that she got homesick.
Hmm...she will certainly field her best players from current roster but question is are they truly Nadeshiko best eleven as of Dec 2017? Hard to tell. One thing for certain, during her reign Takakura builded an even group of 30-35 players that can fit and play for NT on a week notice. Comming big tourney (WWC, AFC, OG) injuries or cards won't be an issue for this team and that's something...I think in 2018 work will be done for that first eleven team to emerge out of this present player pool. (I would still welcome some "gold findings" like Madoka Haji tho).
Korea Rep. 0 - 2 China at HT. Wang Shan Shan scored marvelous goal with a backheel at 18th min. Rui Zhang doubled the lead in 35th (Kim Do-yeon own goal). China's looking improved by each game under Ejolfsson. Korea's paying the price for two hard-fought matches with Japan and North K. Lack of depth on the bench equals tired legs...still they're not quite out of it yet but it's gonna be one hard cookie to come back like they did vs Japan.
Korea Rep. 1 - 3 China FT. Koreans fought very well in 2nd half and they managed to pull one back finally at 85th min. They started taking risk after that pushing for equalizer and China scored from forced error. Ren Guixin long shoot from over 40 meters in 90th min was reminiscent of Kawasumi effort from WWC2011 against Sweden.
Perhaps...or diamond in the middle with Sakaguchi in front of Sumida (or other way around) and Momiki with Haji on wings. Iwabuchi with Tanaka deep in final third. I like defense line - a lot of centimeters, kg's and pure strength there - A tall order in front of a pocket size demon Sung Hyang-sim today
Darn, I'm in the railway station at the moment and dunno what to do. Risk watching the game on dodgy internet connection at Starbucks or ride home only to watch last 30min of the game....
I'd say if Koreans don't score till 25th min they will not score in this half...it's same scenario from them again.
Bold prediction...but I agree...can' t get used to seeing Sameshima in that position...this could be a long morning...
I am back home. I see we're still 0-0. What can you tell me about the minutes I didn't see? I am watching the Fuji-TV stream: is the YouTube one in anyway better? Is it in Japanese too?
Twenty minutes to figure out how to get around those tighly positioned and moving Koreans.... next 20 to get organized up front..?
