Yes, it was about Stuver. There usually are very few players selected in stage one of this Draft (often none) because you have to pick up the player's option, and I don't think this year will be different (even if we have a ton of AM). I'm not shocked if we select him to be our 2nd/3rd keeper. That said, I'm not sure he's above a 24 years old Kempin or a 29 years old Rowe who have more experience.
No doubt, but I doubt we select him in Round 1 because he's on a senior deal and we'd be selecting him to be in a senior roster spot at $84k (he's guaranteed at least a 5% raise). On the open market, he'd be a 21-24 roster spot player on $67,500 (senior minimum next year). That and I agree that I don't see the upside to him over Kempin (Rowe's salary is relatively large if you don't expect him to start). I think that extra senior roster spot is important. It appears that the Sounder's gamble of putting Alonzo on the expansion draft list paid off. Not a total surprise. I did not really review the unprotected player list and was somewhat surprised that San Jose did not protect Marco Urena who scored 5 goals for the Quakes in his first year in MLS. This gives LAFC some quality backup depth at forward if they sign Diego Rossi as rumored.
