The only shoe I've played out of the 5 mentioned there is the Copa 17.1 - and their review of that is dubious, so I wouldn't take much notice of anything else they say tbh. First they say it doesn't allow your feet to breath because of the leather - which is nonsense. Leather allows your feet to breath MUCH better than any synthetic. (I would add though that the compression tongue in this shoe is bad for circulation so any benefits gained from the breathability of the leather are more than lost). They also say they are great for protection, which is only partly true - because the tongue is made of a thin elasitcated fabric which offers no protection whatsover.

to be honest that's not a particularly great recommendation list. Any site that tells you "The mere fact that the shoes are made by Nike is a sort of the guarantee of their quality" isn't being entirely truthful.

Ideally we'd get more information from you in terms of budget, 5 or 7 a side. But I definitely recommend you to take a look at the likes of Joma's Top and Super Flex as well, if you're in the USA. I'd recommend you to take a watch at some of Unisports videos as well. Of course they're slightly biased at times, like how they just don't review shoes they don't think are good, but they definitely offer better advice.

I've mostly played in leather boots growing up, but over the last few years I have been in and out of k-leather and synthetics and I think I've finally decided that I prefer leather. I've worn or at least tried on sprintskin, hybrid touch, messi touch, x skin, primeknit, teijin, kangalite, flyknit and I keep coming back to k-leather.
Kangalite was probably my favorite of the lot, though.

Is there any synthetic that you all rate above or on par with k-leather? (with the obvious leather handicap of water absorption, maintenance and shape retention off the table)

I've given up on synthetics - the handicaps of not molding to your feet properly, not letting your feet breathe properly, and not offering decent enough protection being the main reasons.

I've also given up on synthetics due to them not being as wide or having as good of a touch as k leather. On the whole, I was unimpressed with the thicker synthetics, but the upper on the Vapor X (Bosnia) I preferred in some ways over leather. The only problem was the fit was a bit too narrow in the toe box so I was getting blisters on my pinky toe. The only way I see myself going away from leather is if I was a top pro and had a very thin synthetic upper custom made for my feet.

Sorry for going a little off topic, but I don’t think it matters where your Nike boots are made. Surely i’m no expert in this, and it does feel a little better if your specific pair was made in Europe (Italy, Bosnia i Herzegovina), but aren’t they made with the same raw materials utilizing the same machines?

Anyway, I don’t think a material such as Kanga-Lite 2.0 (on the Maestri III) can be surpassed in terms of what it had to offer.

My experience is the Bosnian and Italian Nikes have a wider fit, the upper is softer and feels better, and on the Tiempos the leather is better.

I've been in and out on both synthetics and leather. Love leather cause touch and feel is great, but with my Morelias I don't get that same midfoot lock down like I do with my MAgistas and Hypervenoms, which make me gravitate towards Flyknit stuff.

God damn I miss those Maestri III's. as someone who was using only MiJ Mizunos at that time, I was terribly ashamed to say that i thought the MAestri 3's were K-leather because of how great they felt when you touched them, didn't feel unnatural at all when you had the ball on your feet and just felt so leather-like, complete with padding

I hate the stiffness of the flyknit stuff though I can understand why you would like the lockdown it provides. But I just can't with the unnatural fit of the boots and Nike boots used to fit me perfectly.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I think the Maestri III was the last good quality boot that nike has released and though I personally didn't like the fit, it was a good boot nonetheless. It actually lasted more than a season in most cases.
I thought the HV I was a nice boot but the quality was abysmal. Same goes for every Tiempo after the IV. And I've never been convinced with the Obra/Opus line. They wish they were as good as the Maestris.

And that's all of the positivity I have for nike.

The obra and hypervenom are my favorite material since the vapor viii. The textured upper may make it seem like they are stiff but they're really soft. There's no better cleat for comfort and protection than the obra.

For me personally they just both felt horrid when I did the nike playtests. Far far too stiff. For that much money they should feel broken in almost from the get go. Plus the durability was terrible for a lot of people.

Tiempo Legend VII are my current favorite boots on the market right now out of all of the boots in my collection! The fit, feel on feet, touch, and responsiveness have made them my go to boot!

I just noticed this too in the past couple weeks! Most recently I had multiple pairs of the Tiempo Legend VII Academy Pack delivered to me a couple months ago. Now it is hit or miss if I can add a K-Leather boot/shoe and get to the checkout process to order them. Sometimes it will update and say "out of stock" even though they have them in stock and sometimes I will be able to get through and place the order.

I feel unless the boot is extremely rare and limited you should definitely play in them if you are not going to sell them relatively soon! I'm 30 years old now and have been playing since I was 4. There are definitely boots I wish I would have held onto and maybe even attempted to fix (Champagne and Red Predator manias, White Predator Precisions, Classic Tiempos etc.) but myself and I think most at that age and time wore their boots til they literally fell apart or it was time to get a new pair.
Times are definitely different now with so many different packs coming out and limited editions boots released it feels like every other month. I myself have built up a nice collection of limited and rare boots but I've always tried to have at least one pair if possible to actually play in and enjoy!

I have played in or tried on almost every shoe on that list. It definitely depends on what type of fit and feel you are looking for? ie: leather, synthetic, mid cut collar or low cut, classic or more streamlined modern fit.
What boots do you currently wear playing outdoors?
Let me know and I'll give you my best recommendations based on that!

I sold my Messi 15.1's last week and just got a pair of Nike Premier I's for $45 from eBay...
I am definitely over synthetics now! The difference in out the box comfort is crazy.
It makes no sense to me to wear a synthetic boot for a month and it doesn't feel "broken in" when a k-leather boot is good to go as soon as the laces are tied.

Ebay is an amazing place if you know what you’re buying and from what buyer. I use two boots right now, the Floodlights Pack Vapor XI (the purple one) which I got BNIB for $55 and my main boot the Lock In Let Loose Phantom 3 which I got BNIB for $129.

We are going opposite paths on this one. For almost a year I was into leather boots. Legend VI, Morelia II, Basara 101 Japan, Rebula V1, Legacy III, Legend VII*...and they didn’t quite satisfy my need in the long run. Their comfort is top-notch and unmatched, yes, but the responsiveness sure is lacking. It’s a personal preference of mine to make sure the boots stay tight and responsive on-feet and I was always one who felt the need to re-lace my boots every 20-30 minutes or so on training days. Leather boots never gave me this sense of tightness. They always ended up being too sloppy for me.

You had that problem with the Legend VII? That is one of the main things I enjoy the most about the Legend VII. The combination of the Flyknit tongue, laces, and Flywire locks my foot in and I never feel that I have to adjust either one while playing.
I might do it at half time out of habit but I've always done that no matter what boot I am wearing at the time whether it be synthetic or leather.
I did try the Legend VII in my true to size 9US and up a half size in 9.5US and I went with the 9US as the fit is perfect lengthwise and I feel slightly more locked in and secure.

I hear what you're saying about lock down and responsiveness, but I'm old and slow enough that comfort is where it's at for me!
It's tough to beat that locked in feeling that synthetics provide, but the catch for me has always been that if my foot is not a near perfect match for the lasting on a synthetic, it never feels really comfortable in the long run.

eBay has gotten pretty good about not hosting fake boot auctions, I rarely come across fakes when I'm searching and if you don't mind old colorways, Vapors can be had for $40-$50 pretty regularly. There's even a fair amount of vintage Predators and Vapors that are fairly priced if search a bit.

I'm just getting ready to return to playing after knee surgery. I've always worn FG vapors on artificial grass but now I'm thinking blades on AG surfaces are a bad idea. Did anyone wear the Adidas x15.1 on AG? I have a pair that I've only worn on FG and I know the soleplate is supposed to be FG/AG but looking at it I don't see how.

My other options are just wearing TF boots or wearing my FG Hypervenom II as they are conical studs, albeit a little long.

Get some proper AG boots or wear TF.

IMO artificial grass puts an extra strain on your whole body. I can feel it whenever I play on it (which thankfully hasn't been that often recently).

If its a nasty old 3G pitch I really don't think even an AG soleplate is worth it. TF works just fine.

    Start with turf boots.

When you have been back playing a while then you can consider AG studs. But your legs need to get used to the motions first before you can go full blast. Do your HV have the collar? I don't recommend using boots with the collar when you are first back from surgery. Heck, I don't even recommend them if you haven't had surgery.

No, my Hypervenom don't have a collar but unfortunately my TF do as I have the mercurialx proximos.

The more I look at the x15.1, I can't figure out how they got away with calling them FG/AG boots. They're basically bladed studs with a few smaller cleats on the forefoot.

Ah! Well. Being turf should help. The issue I have with collared boots is that when you the ankle on the shoe goes the high up it stabilises the ankle more. The reason why this is an issue is because when the ankle is that stabilised and you take a fall, the next joint that takes the force of the fall is your knee...

I have used the X 15s on turf and they felt fine. At the same time though, I have never had any problems used bladed studs on turf. And though it is hypocritical of me to say this, I generally don't recommend ever using blades on turf for anyone.

I was the same way. I always used FG vapors on AG fields without any problems. But after tearing my ACL playing indoor I figured better play things safe from now on. I'll probably stick to my TF cleats for now and then test out the other two FGs once I get closer to 100%.
