@Wolves1889 Have your own thread for the short time you have left in the Championship. Of course you can post anywhere. We welcome all. Nice to have another voice in our little part of the board.
Lucky yesterday against a decent Reading side. We could have been 2-0 down within the first ten minutes due to some shade work by John Ruddy. However we survived and Diogo Jota and Cavaleiro combined for a fine opening goal. Second half we continued to ride our luck.Ruddy with some supersaves and a late Matt Doherty goal gave us another threepointer making it six out of the last seven. We are on 38 points after 17 matches. We could reach 50 by the turn of season and as always one has to assume that 90 points overall will cut automatic promotion. We have a decent schedule up to match 23 and could be away from the pack at that point..or not.Championship is a legendary hard league to compete in. Leeds up next. Not particulary dirty anymore I recon and we will play them at Molineux. We will be looking for another three points. UP THE WOLVES!
Wolverhampton is on pace for 103 points. Only two clubs in the last 24 League Championship seasons have had at least 103 points. They were Reading's 106 in 2005-2006 and Sunderland's 105 in 1998-1999.
Music to my ears EvanJ.We have enough depth in squad to make a real assault towards 100 points overall I hope. I understand you´re not to happy with the team in runner up place ATM Ivan. It´s like us versus the unmentionables from Sandwell. To see Leon Clarke of all people suddenly look like a decent goalscoring machine is a little bit surreal.Fat Leon we called him when he played for us with an attitude to go with it.Not well liked in Wolverhampton despite the fact being a local lad.
Strange fact Ivan. When I started my slow journey towards the 92 back in 2006..Leon Clarke scored twice when playing for us against Owls at Molineux. If memory serve,Chris Brunt scored for you in that game. Nowadays,he plays for Sandwell.
We beat dirty Leeds tonight and we go four points adrift on top of the pile. Notlob home after that. Things smells rosy ATM.
4-1 yesterday. Some fine goals as well, especially Barry Douglas freekick to 1-0 and Ivan Cavaleiros goal after a fine team attack. Leeds manager said after the match that we are going up. Need to keep feets on ground, long way to go yet for someone who´s old enough to remember our choke season...and even the legendary Chorley defeat back in the dark 80`s. Last season we went up was 08/09.We actually had 46 points after 19 matches back then.
Different talk floating around Wolves are taking a huge financial gamble when getting guys like Helder Costa and Ivan Cavaleiro. I thought about it and there is two alternatives for most second tier clubs. Either take a chanceand spend and perhaps getting somewhere..or take the Baggies rout which means solid and boring second class premier football with stable finances. I think of Pompey. They won silverware but is still paying the price for it. Would it be worth it to me regarding Wolves? The answer is...Hell Yes! I am willing to take a decade in decline IF winning the FA Cup at least once. Football must be about winning something at the end of it all IF supporting a second tier club.Nowadays this involves costing the arm and the leg. I don´t care if it will mean a couple of years in the fourth division. Winning matches is more fun than losing them and it would be more fun beating Yeovil Town than losing 4-0 to Chelski the WBA way.
Another statistic to make a Friday even better for anyone Wolves...Only five other teams has won 41 points from their opening 18 matches this centrury...and everytime they have won promotion to the greed league. They are us in 08/09,Blades and Reading 2005,Pompey in 2002 and Fulham in 2000. Happy days are here again.
One team at Molineux today that is unbeaten in last seven games...and it ain´t Wolves. Potential bananaskin?
"They are going to win this league by ten points.I´ll say that now" Phil Parkinson,Bolton manager after losing 5-1 at Molineux today. Nuff said.
Run of the mill win against SHA monday. Leo Bonatini continues to score and Diogo Jota continues to look like a coming world class player. We should have won it by more than a goal, but another three points in the bag and job done. Helder Costa is trying too hard ATM. Next up the once formidable football club Sunderland.I quite like them, they are a proper football club if you ask me. Wolves 3 Sunderland 0.
IF beating Black cats tomorrow we take aim to round the halfmark of the season on 54 points at least. What is the Championship overall record? Reading on 103? We are certainly in with a shot. In Nuno we trust. Wolves ay we,...buy a corner shop, sell the cheaper lager. Bhattis OUT!
Cool...Someone was supposed to break our winning streak, and drumroll please...it is Sunderland. The classic park the bus kinda match where we were tothless going forward. I have no quarrels regarding this.Nuff respect to Black Cats..what are they supposed to do? They came, they parked the bus and can now drive back Teeside with a point. In their situation that´s what it´s all about. Hopefully Ivan,we will take it out on Wednesday...
Anyone watching the match saw we played like shit...still got the threepointer...the mark of a club getting away from the terribly competitive second division. We are WOLVES,we are indeed TOOOP OF THE LEEEEAUGE. You want excuses? Look elsewhere.
