@hotjam2 & @Thomsen I wouldn't waste time arguing about the qualities, or deficiencies of certain German CB's here, as it needs to be remembered this thread was also not so long ago filled with a lot of ridiculous posts genuinely defending the merits of the constantly inglorious Henning lol.

Islacker's meant to be a finisher... but this season she's been pretty bad at the only thing she's really good at (finishing), and honestly doesn't posses a style or ability to truly impose herself on the international stage for a team who consistently struggling right now to do things like.. get the ball into goal scoring positions.

But when I look at Popp, I always see a potentially fantastic lone striker, who's unfortunately seen her natural all round abilities allow various coaches to waste her best attributes in all kinds of random positions outside of the one she probably feels her best.
U-17 and U-20 levels have been the only times we've seen an international playing #10 Marozsan comfortable enough to fully dominate as the teams main play maker.

Plus she was also a beast at Frankfurt, suggesting should any coach take full advantage of her creative abilities, her teams will be generally pretty damn successful too.

It's just this Neid/Jones era of the senior team where Germany's randomly forgotten the purpose of a balanced team, making creative options like Marozsan a luxury rather than a necessity.

only a personal scandal ala Sampson/England be the only way to get rid of Jones now. Though what if the French get even worse blown out by the Swedes in today's friendly? That would give at least the DFB something to think about.

from reading other woso message boards; condolences have come in to Germans from around the world(since their now stuck with Stefi) lol

take it with a grain of salt; at least Stefi has brought in players that never got a chance under Neid & at least she improved her style 100% over previous games with the spacing of players, strong press & some counter attacking via long balls. As well as finally found a perfect place for Kemme as 2nd DM, Tabi is one tough cookie! but been a tad slow at the international scene some of the other spots she's played like striker, outside mid & FB. Now she can keep an eye out for Peter as well as Maro.

You really don't know what another coach would of brought, Lets say Worle got the nod instead. Well half the time I didn't know that Maier or Leupolz were on the field in his games, they do so little on his squad/or being so stationary would of been a disaster in the international game

or could be stuck with the likes of the new French coach, who's merry-go-round technique(during the corner kicks) is making it the laughing stock of woso

Well Steffi said they weren’t happy with her performances lol... if she gets in top form for Wolfsburg then she shouldn’t be ignored, but then she’s probably gonna be because Steffi’s pissed

  7. They sell out so fast the KNVB is thinking about grading up to bigger venues. But it all has to do with success. And the need for cheering at least one Orange team:D

Germany has played 19 matches so far under Jones, winning 13, losing 3, drawing 3. But even if these results have happened within the context of this being a particular time period for redevelopment, I still can't honestly defend anything I've witnessed during these past 19 games, that should allow Jones, or a host of other names within this program, to stay beyond 2017.

See... if the German wnt is in such a mess, an eventual loss to Iceland at home can became a reasonable prediction for many of it's followers to make, and a crazy result for the coaches to expect the DFB to simply accept, there really shouldn't be any further debates or political posturing taking place for what happens next.

Jones, and whoever is promoting and protecting her have to go! And now with the DFB having FIVE MONTHS to get a new coaching team in place prior to the start of next stage of WC qualifying, people have to finally step up and provide this program with real/professional leadership.

DFB will surely listen to some dude on an American soccer board who has approximately not seen 13 of the last 15 games

Does this mean the DFB should stop the development and progression of elite female coaches... NO. But removing credible male coaches, and not genuinely being able to recruit or promote high level female coaches for this program, hasn't done any long term good either.

And this is why I'm sure behind the scenes right now all kinds bureaucratic nonsense continue making this a slower process than it really should be; as you can guarantee very few people within the DFB's boys club will want to be seen as major parts of a committee potentially kicking numerous women out of their high profile roles lol.

Unfortunately one of the few cons(or frustration) of being a woso soccer fan is that they indeed going to give women more power even though there's obviously way more deserving/better men's coaches out there.

For the French game, got the feeling Jones went back to coaching school/or got seriously tutored by either Neid, Meinert or even Low or Kellermann since it was dramatic 100% improvement over Iceland/Euros.

most other countries are in the same situation with constant complaints from fans about how their coach or federation is. Blissett whined about Italy, Tons of American want Ellis fired, The French fans either all but disappeared from this forum or demanding the head be chopped of their new coach(from their lezie message board). England's new coach looks like she eats about a dozen hamburgers for breakfast every morning!
And now look; even the Dutch are having problems as they only got a tie in their home turf vs an under manned Ireland team. And even Austria, well defensively coached in the Euros(only allotted 2 goals in 5 games at Euros). now looks all but eliminated after their devastating loss to Spain at WC qualifiers.

So it shows just how quickly things can change in woso, as Germany right now looks like in better shape than most other countries as long as Jones listens to her horse whisperer's(like obviously in the French game), but of course there's a huge room for improvement, but you not going always get that in that under payed world of woso, and at least(not yet) Germany hasn't been hit by NT's demanding equal pay as their male counterparts; that may be an even more destructive force than Jones!

  14. ??? The Irish didnot come to play football. They erected an Atlantik Wall and were under siege for almost the whole match. I donot know how the ball possesion%% are, but they must be awful for Ireland. It took them great saves from goaly, the goal frame and a referee that with full vision of a volley ball handling by an Irish defender to keep us at bay. Even on about the only break out they had with two Irish challenging two defenders, the rest stayed cowardly behind and let those two run stuck.
Dunno why you mention us in a post about complaints with the coaches.

... She reverted back to the more preferred/understood 4-2-3-1, for a friendly match vs a high level opponent who's always been prepared to participate in contests of open attacking football; Jones didn't receive any intensive tutoring for those factors to work in her, or her teams favor.

Maybe, just maybe, Högner finally got a little more input towards the teams tactics, but if this had anything to do with outside help from Neid, looking back at the final frustrating 5 years of her time with this team there's no way it resulted in her telling Jones to revert back to using a 4-2-3-1; no way.

Plus seeing how Meinert hasn't really appeared to have any involvement within the senior coaching practices for a very long time, this to the point she's basically siting on a island all of her own right now as the women's program best coach, utilizing the preferred DFB tactics that are clearly no longer used by the U-15,16,17, or seniors, I don't see how she has any involvement in the Jones thought process for taking on France.

Just looking at Jones poor 2nd half use of her subs, I'm not seeing any valid nature behind ideas of the last match revealing anything like a "100% improvement" for Jones coaching abilities. So if the DFB's serious about this programs future, Neid, Ballweg, Jones, Högner, Bernhard, should all still be in sharp focus for being replaced or moved into new roles very soon.

Hmmm, I actually think the German wnt program is only being held together right now by a few key individuals doing really good work behind the scenes, aided by the consistently strong coaching work from the likes of Meinert and Wiegmann regularly developing players/teams within the U-19/20 age group.

Outside of those factors, Germany's U-15-17 age groups remain in a serious need of new development, with the U-16's only very recently starting a full time program to try and address the problems that could have eventually become critical flaws if left to wilt in their older states; oh, and all this while the program as a whole is still somehow overseen by Neid and Ballweg... leaving many to ask, why..?
HA! The German wnt trying that particular trick within the atmosphere of their football culture would be rather... lets say audacious lol.

I think the German wnt program should be way more professional, but in some parts of the football world, your going to have a very hard time convincing people to turn up and fill full size stadiums to watch the horse sh*t produced by their wnt in recent years lol.

    sitting on the bench!(Elsig)
I think the Dutch coach played it brilliantly at the Euros/ She attacked swiftly. giving ample space for her wide's to work with. But now everybody seems to catch on, so their going to park the bus. giving little room for Martens & van den Sanden. as well as clamping down the view/angle of the sharp hooting shooting skills of Miedema..
So Wiegmann still needs to figure out how to break down a defensive shell like that, since these WC qualifiers have become very competitive with now a 3rd spoiler team in virtually every group, which could reduce the final 2nd place team in making the wild card birth. And sorry for mentioning NE in this thread, but it's one of the only thread's on BS serious. almost nobody replies back or don't even bother watching every time I post a link to a game.
So that's why at least over here, you can converse with fellow posters that actually watch the games
I agree with the subs. obviously Jones wanted to win this game so badly without giving up goals that she didn't want to for go the chemistry.what she had all ready on the field. But at least she did pick the RIGHT starting lineup(well of course, all except Peter).
With Popp as lone striker where her header game can be utilized at it'd max, finally Germany's got the much needed world class fwd that was previously missing(remember Sasic?). She might just be the one to rise above those parked buses(as she had an brilliant goal & assist through headers vs the experienced likes of Renard,, Georges & M'Bock firmly entrenched)
While obviously not as talented. Dallmann showed firm leadership directing traffic over the at times cocky, Maro at AM. Taking out a page from Turbine Potsdam, finally Huth got those long balls while playing more wide to show how deadly she can be. And again, Islacker got several tackles with her constant pressing. Now how she'll do vs those six foot wind walkers of Iceland will be another story. lol

  19. Okay, get it. But we're not complaining about her. The players themselves were critical enough on them selves that they at least had to put one ball behind that goalie.

Islacker's job is to score goals, not playing where she did against a poor France where the whole German team looked decent. She got the lowest score in the poll made by ARD (german media) if I remember correct. With Popp up as a lone striker up there, Islacker should be benched

  21. How about the room for improvement in quality of the competitors of the Orange lionesses?
Compared to two years ago (they were terrible) the Orange lionesses made a huge jump in quality, something I didnot see coming. How about the other nt's?
Any room/prospect for a quality jump too?

Don't know if I got your question right, but Germany have huge potential which is wasted away by Steffi, her coaching staff and partly DFB not doing anything about it.

  23. If that describes Germany's reality that's very regrettable. You really want to see on the pitch what a team/selection is capable of.

Well that is the reality - Steffi and her coaching staff playing the wrong players and no strategy at all... when the likes of Peter is the heart of the defense and the defense boss according to Steffi it describes which mess Steffi really is lol

while men's soccer is a bit more staple, woso can be a topsy turvy world out there one moment you on top of the world, a few months later, it's almost like your on the bottom!
Look at Iceland; poorest performing team at Euros, but then coming back with an upset where their blue jeans clad coach, completely outsmarts Stefi Jones. But then Jones turns around & hands France it's biggest defeat this decade.
Look at Japan; they were able to make it into the WC finals 6 months later but were completely clobbered at the Asian/Olympics qualifiers(only manage 4th out of 6th place).
So it's hard to access whats going on/or especially in Europe. In the rest of the world its the same world order; US, Australia, Canada & Brazil all still in control of their regions. But the women's game is more based on a more physical/aggressive style, than the sort of chess game feel of the Europeans & Asians.
Right now the 'it' team is Australia, but just watching their last friendly vs the Scandinavian coached, China. The Chinese, playing the so called beautiful game with nice passing & team work looked do much more better organized & were able to actually control the ball out play the Aussies. I think shots on target was something like 7 to 6 in their favor. But in the end., the scoreline said it all'
    Australia 5, China 1
It was nothing but picking off passes/mugging a defender off the ball as legal as possible that turned the game into a fairly easy goals for them

Wiegmann coached brilliantly in the Euros, But a good future opponent coach will scout & study every single movement that the Dutch players make plus will start copying as well from across the globe So Wiegmann might have to start switching her playing style as well switch up some of her starters(as she has a habit of using the same players over & over).
But another thing too, it's different playing one game at a time(like at qualifiers or an friendly) and preparing for a major tournament, which you to take that her conditioning of her team must of been quite superb.
