i've defended Hendrich because she's actually been better than Peter in the latter games by a landslide lol. @hotjam2
I'm pretty sure we both agree that Peter has no business in the NT or for Wolfsbirg, or?

Yes, when the Peter - Henning partnerships biggest accomplishment was thankfully not being sent off, or completely embarrassed, it's a massive upgrade to just see somebody like Hendrich in a CB role, allowing this team to use a minimal sense of calming possession from the back.

However, in a time frame the juniors are consistently able to build various teams around competent and stable CB partnerships, the excuse of the seniors not possessing the necessary quality in the CB positions needs to come to an end.

Given the various credible options available, using a CM like Hendrich or Goeßling as a CB shouldn't even need to be a topic of discussion right now.

Yes, and this makes me wonder who these amateurs in the DFB are?

I've come to the conclusion it's a hangover from the Theo Schweinsteiger love affair for Neid; when he basically handed Neid complete power over the entire senior teams future, in ways that may have required catastrophic failure to occur before other minds still with the DFB felt comfortable, or confident, to finally step in and institute significant changes.

Neid should have gone WAY before she stepped down, and in that time somehow created a new position for herself as a "senior team scout", where she still oversees the future direction of the senior team lol.

And It's within this environment, I feel the DFB probably didn't want to appear harsh or negative towards the rather impressive female influence within it's running of the Federation.

but unfortunately in the context of this game; will she/wouldn't she keep her job, she definitely aced this one, albeit vs a rather comatose, French team.

She did change the style though; finally found the SPACE that Huth & the rest needed to work with(instead of previously cramming them into crowded area when they were bumping into their own players). Finally came up with a strong press. & I did recommend Popp as a lone striker as well as Dallmann as the AM. She kept the CB's finally more grounded & backed them up by two DM's. and yep, finally a few long balls which led to an overall quicker attack.

But don't get me wrong, these tactics(except for the strong press) aren't going to work so well in an more competitive setting where Iceland & the Czech will surely park the bus. Guess I'll be going against the grain here, but she'll need someone better at FB than Maier or Faisst & don't look like she cares to replace Peter anytime soon.

Losers; probably Goessling as well as if indeed Magull, Laudehr & Leupolz just bowed out(if NOT due to the officially reported injuries) & of course Elsig with her little playing time she got.

You mean the current German wnt coaches finally used the DFB's preferred 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 system and found a decent performance.. hmmm, strange how that supposed tactical regression seems to have suited the players better...
The 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 would work for these players if it were being overseen by a competent head coach... something I'm pretty sure Jones isn't going to be anytime soon.

The real and only potential losers here remain the senior German wnt; this being a wnt in long time need of a more professional impetus, but now looks set to waste it's near future on being politically correct for a coaching system that's clearly not functioning as effectively as it could, or should be.

So one friendly match completely out of place with past results could see Jones/Neid position strengthened now on a new completely false sense of progress and accomplishment, ignoring the more prevalent issues of U15-17 underachievement, senior level stagnation, and the top domestic clubs new proliferation of foreign talent.

See, to me it feels like the DFB stupidly placed a bet on their current senior wnt's woes giving them a perfect excuse to thoroughly implement changes for it's women's program; but as we've just seen this plan completely backfired on this posse of career politicians.

Goeßling and Laudehr are veteran's on the way out. Despite their impressive club level form, Magull and Elsig will continue to be ignored. And when was the last time a Leupolz or Däbritz had a strong series of performances at any level..? There's bigger issues here than a few well known names missing matches.

Yes, it's sad to see Maier so out of form, she used to be deadly from her position.

I really fear the worst now if Steffi actually gets to continue, I'll have to witness Babett Peter and a confused German WNT with the likes of Elsig and Magull ignored/benched. The female version of the dreadful Roy Hodgson.

Imagine this team without Popp in the latter games though, she's been one of the positive ones in this team with Kemme. I think Kemme is a strong box to box midfielder. But again, Maro is wasted by Steffi..

Also Islacker at the left yesterday was poor, I don't think she deserves anymore call ups, it's not like she's a prospect for the future.

Peter is the only defender we have with a cast amount of CL experience. Get over your ********ing agenda.

And Magull is not being ignored, she is either injured or falls short to Maro and Dallmann. Fielding 3 playmakers doesnt work we have seen that at the Euros.

But I've seen a lot of her CL games, and her average performances are overshadowed by her highly talented team mates lol. Now they have time to give younger players experience before the World Cup, although not CL experience.

Who? Elsig is not young and injury prone as ******** playing for a team that ********ed CL up last season. Who Im asking you. There is none. That is why Hendrich has to play CB. Now shut up about Peter as shown in the vid

When was the last time Elsig was injured though?
    Demann and Wensing
There is better CB options, but Steffi doesn't give them a chance to prove themself as centerbacks

Demann is a DM like Hendrich and Wensing has been out of the game for like 4 years. Realistic much. So please end your useless bashing when we obviously dont have the talent pool at CB.

Well, if the result of the friendly match with France was the condition they had made by themselves to reconsider Jones' position, I guess there is no decision to be made by now.

If they wanted to fire Jones, they should have told that plain and square, and not throw vague anathemas on the lines of "If we don't win the match with France, then...", because this way they tied themselves hands and feet to that result and right now they can't retract without looking ridiculous: "Oh, well, yes, we said this meaningless friendly match's result was very important, but, you know what? Actually it wasn't at all and we decided to fire you anyway".

What did they expect, by sitting at the window and making this match into the final ordeal? Wasn't it obvious that, in a do-or-die situation, anything could have happened?
Unless they actually expected exactly that and this was their plan to keep the status quo without actually looking like it. :cautious:

Anyway, if they'll really stand by what they had said, and will keep Jones because she won by 4-0 a meaningless friendly match, I guess we'll be allowed to say that all of this situation was managed by DFB in a very stupid way.
If they'll end firing Jones anyway... well, good for Germany, but we'll be equally allowed to say that all of this situation was managed by DFB in a very stupid way.

Also: I said nothing before, but I would like to know why it seems like everyone on this thread was taking as a given that the big change was upcoming, independently from the result of Germany-France. It's still entirely possible that something happens, but what made you believe that it would? :cautious:

The German FA president went out during halftime in the qualifier against Faroer saying on national tv that Jones would be gone is there wouldnt be a convincing result against France. He didnt even say "win" but convincing result. The women section is DFBs good weather machine always producing nice results and they cant afford them to suddenly produce negative headlines and results

Hendrich is not only one of the fastest players out there but she can out hustle pretty much everybody else.

Again, she was ordered up field in the Iceland game. This isn't something new, this is what England's former coach, Sampson, used to do with his CB's, letting arguably the best FB in the world.Lucy Bronze, race back to cover counter attacks/ defensive deficiencies

If Demann comes back. Hendrich could move over to right FB(she's got 3 Buli goals vs Maier's none)/ But what ever she plays, she's firnly cemented herself as one of Stefi's starters
Disagree with Islacker; she pressed very strongly & got several successful tackles. That sometimes can be more telling then the goals. Popp finally got to be lone striker, she's got one of the best header games around, She's Stefi's answer to Low's Mario Gomez.
Don't get me wrong, Maro's a superb player when she wants to be, But playing in the wimpy French League(the nine bottom feeder teams) has made her somewhat complacent. I think that either Dallmann or Magull are currently better AM. I thought maybe Maro might make a better lone,DM, but she was literally man handled out of there by you know who in the Denmark game. Having the tough as nails,Kemme, beside her(at DM) will help with either Maro or Peter.

Because the politicians within the DFB finally spoke up after the match vs Faroe Islands, and basically said major changes are coming for the wnt; specifically mentioning Oliver Bierhoff taking a much close look at what should happen next too.

But like all people living in the world of Machiavellian behaviors, it seems covering their bases also meant suggesting that Jones will have another test to prove her self incompetent vs France...o_O. As if the Euro's partnered with tragic WC qualification form wasn't enough lol.

Meaning all this probably in direct attempts to distance themselves from looking overly ruthless towards any particular individual who've long been part of creating this mess, holding long term positions within an institution still wanting to maintain it's progressive demeanor.

So making your mind up and sticking to what you've already said sounds correct to most people, but I think your right to question our simple naivety on all of this. Jones doesn't even the wnt job if the DFB hadn't already rigged the system with ridiculous politics.
