    @King of STS

    Since this list is all time and you included Israel in that list, a team that hasn't competed in Asia since 1974, I think you should include the Philippines.

    Philippine football is barely a footnote today in a country obsessed with basketball, but there was a time(before the 1950's), when it was a pioneer and trendsetter for the sport in Asia and was a factory for footballers playing in the Spanish leagues. It was introduced in the Philippines in the 19th century by their Spanish colonizers.

    Philippines along with China played the first officially FIFA recognized international football game in Asia in the Far Eastern Games(precursor of the Asian Games) in 1913 in Manila which the Philippines won. The Philippines won 1 Far Eastern Games title and finished in 2nd place 7 times in that tournament which was replaced by the Asian Games after WWII. It was in one of those games that Japan suffered its worst loss in its football history when the Philippines beat them 15-2 in 1917.

    During the early part of the 20th century they produced many good players who ended up playing in Spain and England, including the greatest Asian player of all time Paulino Alcantara, who played and held the record for most goals by a football player at FC Barcelona(1912-1927) for nearly a century until Messi broke it a couple of years ago. He still holds the record for the youngest footballer to score a goal for FC Barcelona in official competition at 15 y.o. He won 15 club championships in Spain and 2 in the Philippines(while playing for the Bohemian Sporting Club, the most successful club in the Philippines before WW2). He also was part of the Philippine national team that dealt that 15-2 loss on Japan.

    They also sent to Spain FC Barcelona's first professional player(1905), Manuel Amechazzurra(who predated Alcantara by a few years) who also played for several clubs in England, and won 11 titles in Spain and goalkeeper Eduardo Teus who played for Real Madrid and won 4 titles over there.

    Other players who went to Spain included Juan Garchitorena(FC Barcelona),
    Gregorio Amestoy(Atletico Madrid), Ignacio Larrauri(Atletico de Bilbao), Julio Uriarte(Zaragosa from 1939-43), etc.

    Most of these players never ended up playing for the Philippine national football team in the Far Eastern Games, because of the cost and time of travel(by boat from Spain to the Philippines and vice versa) before WW2. Only Alcantara did(winning 2 Philippine club championships during his return there) because his parents wanted him to finish his medical studies in the Philippines and give up football. He however convinced them to allow him to go back to Spain(Barcelona's manager personally travelled to the Philippines to try to get him to come back because they couldn't win a championship without him) when he promised to continue his medical studies after finishing his football career. He is considered FC Barcelona's first superstar.

    The Philippines is also one of the founding members of the AFC.

    Interest in football eventually died out with the rise of basketball(many of its best footballers shifted to playing basketball in the 1950s when the football leagues collapsed), but all time they were one of the powers before WWII.

    There has been a resurgence of interest lately in the sport, but they have fallen far behind other nations in Asia and in now considered a developing nation in football with limited infrastructure and a new fully professional football league only started 2 years ago.

    First of all, thanks for the insight.
    I knew about Paulino Alcantara as a player through many articles.
    As for Far Eastern Games as a precursor of the Asian Games, that actually didn't know it all along, now It's included.

    *At World Championships would certainly lead to an increase on the points, depend a lot on the type of achievement (Qualify, Round of 16, Quarter-final, Semi-final).
    * Asian Games & the Olympics are lower on the scale.

    Nice work, King of STS. It is hard to find information on Asian statistical data today on one site, so it is good that you have them listed.

    You shouldn't focus too much on the old Asian cups where there was only 5 teams playing. Iran should be low in the list because they failed to win Asian cup for 43 years and have never made world cup knockout stage.
