The argument that a coach cannot be racist against a certain group because he uses a lot of black players doesn't work. It's not even Deschamps who is particularly racist but the whole federation, country and continent. Against arabs muslims.

Benzema, Nasri, Ben Arfa...all had a lot of troubles for little things. Nasri insulted a journalist and got a ban, how many players insult or disrespect journalists at least once in their career ? 80 % probably... Nasri and Ben Arfa are choir kids next to some british players for example who go to clubs, drink and bump against trees at least once in a year.

Even out of the football sphere, the racism anti arab is obvious. Look what they are doing to Tariq Ramadan now. They want people to believe that even intellectual arabs are twisted perverts.

Was Dirar the only one born in Morocco? Even he grew up in Belgium and wanted to join the Belgian NT (a shame he was cap-tied when he turned down Morocco and decided to join Belgium). Chadli and Fellaini are doing OK though ... I think Dirar could have been in contention for a squaddie spot behind Meunier although Chadli has done well whenever Meunier or Carrasco have been rested/injured.

 

Nasri is a bit toxic ... that's the last thing France need.

Olalala dear Laurent75, I do not minimize some forms of discrimination that may exist in the West, I just say that in the cases that you quote I do not see any racism. Ben Arfa has had only one good season in his entire career. Nasri has often had problems with his coaches and has never been able to tap his immense potential. Why speak of Tariq Ramadan? They are Muslim women who accuse him of rape. Why bring everything back to religion, to the color of skin? I am half Senegalese, I am of Moslem culture, I know some misdeeds of racism. But I'm sorry, in the cases you quote racism is non-existent.
When Laurent Blanc talked about quotas and said that black players are big and tough and that they are not technical, that was racism.

Why does every arab celebrity have problems soon or late ? Soccer players, comedian or intellectual...They are all accused of being rapists, having extra sportive behavior problems and stuff. And the label sticks to them forever.

John Terry f**** his team mate wife and what did he have ? Only his armband removed. He could still play with England. And I'm sure most of people won't even remember about it.

Everybody will remember about Benzema being the thug described in the medias.

 

I guess you don't remember how badly Terry was hammered in the media and ridiculed by the entire nation (far worse than Benzema). Wayne Bridge wasn't even at Chelsea during JT's affair with his ex (mind you these were consenting adults, not an underaged girl being paid for sex). Giggs, fvcked around a lot, but the affair that really stands out is the 8 years he betrayed his own brother. JT sleeping with an ex-girlfriend of an ex-teammate is nowhere near as bad as Giggs screwing his brother's wife, for 8 years, even getting her pregnant and forcing her to abort the baby, etc. Giggs was made OBE and looks like a saint compared to how the media slaughtered JT. His choice to retire early was only logical. England definitely could have used JT, by far their best defender at the time, but the way the media and the public treated him he was 100% right to stay away.

 

I know he was being ridiculed but 7 years later I'm sure a lot of people forgot about that story, or they remember but still see Terry as a great charismatic defender before to see him as a coward.

The medias here do everything to make Benzema look like an horrible person and not the very good footballer he is.

 

The way the press treated Terry was shameful after he gave everything for England. People remember (except the bit about sleeping with an ex-girlfriend of an ex-teammate it seems). I'm not even English but like Benzema Terry's reputation crosses borders. Benzema isn't the unluckiest person in the world. He has himself to blame. Imho footballers don't need to be role models, yet Benzema is anything but (you don't have to swing completely in the opposite direction). It's not that hard to find nicer persons. Adil Rami?

Some conclusions after watching the match:

- With Advocaat (who I think is just an okay coach) we would've qualified for both the WC and EC.
- Danny Blind managed to concede defeats against teams that were clearly inferior to the Oranje.
- The people at the KNVB who appointed Danny Blind should be jailed!! He solely costs us not being in two consecutive major tournaments!
- The team improved considerably after Daley Blind took the "6' position. He was the guy who connected the defense and the attack line successfully.
- Wijnaldum and Strootman (and Klaassen), need to go. They don't contribute to the build-up play nor add anything special in defense.
- Despite having the worst generation since I follow the Netherlands NT (1992), I think we are still top 10 in Europe (behind Germany, Italy, France, Spain, England, Belgium, Denmark, Portugal, and Croatia.) Ergo, we should always qualify for major tournaments!

 

I wouldn't put us above Poland, Serbia or Switzerland. We don't have less good players than those teams, but Poland got two real strikers, Serbia and Switzerland some real good midfielders, we don't have any of these. People are still overating Strootman and Wijnaldum massively while these players can't even control and show interesting possession against teams such as Romania and Scotland.
I really hope Strootman will go to Manchester, then people will see that he isn't even Schneiderlin level. He won't make it there and will sign for an inferior club after.

Then you got teams such as Sweden, Iceland or even Ireland (but not tonight) that are clearly inferior to us on the paper but know how to play with their strenghts.

Then Turkey, Bosnia; Greece, Wales, Austria can put a strong XI and give us a really hard time but they have been playing bad lately.

I think we will make it for 2020, but only because there are 24 tickets.. World cup 2022 will be hard, unless a group of young talented players come up next years.

 

Danny Blind really did an awful job. No sugarcoating that fact.
Euro Qualifiers were so bad while these World Cup Qualifiers we were awful at Bulgaria and in France were Dickie got his tactics wrong. Sadly that was France at their best.

 

Guys be careful. After our elimination from the playoffs of the Euro, we beat, if I remember correctly, England, Poland and Austria. That did not prevent this disastrous qualifying campaign for the World Cup.
