No expectation from me from these two meaningless friendlies, result-wise, but if anything, what I'd like to see is that the young(er) players have the bulk of the minutes and get the much needed experience. De Light, Tete, Van De Beek, Vilhena, and Locadia in particular. Let's look positively into the future!!

Anybody north of 26-27 years old should step aside from these matches and make ways ... Sneijder, Babel, Blind, Strootman, Wijnaldum, Propper, Dost, etc.

 

Janssen and Locadia are out injured. Not sure if there's any other attacking players worthy of a call for their replacements. Bergwijn injured as well. We will probably see some of the old-timers again... KJH, RVP, Lens, Elia, etc.

Ryan Babel will register a hattrick

 

Luuk De Jong was called . 1 goal in 1132 minutes, but it's enough to wear the orange jersey. Frankly, I can not stand Dutch football, I'm on the verge of discouragement.
Even Weghorst would have deserved more to be there than De Jong, or even Brandly Kuwas.

I never thought I'd see the day, the Dutch national team has to look at Iceland as an example as to how to run things!!!

^^^ So many teams have passed Dutch team: Swiss, Belgium, Poland, Serbia, Denmark, Croatia...Refusing to learn new things and adapt we are left behind. It is a mandatory that the new men team should watch how Greece 2004 or the women team won Euro...

Also, it's really odd Holland don't have a director of football (or a comittee), especially at a time when you're looking for a new manager and Dutch football is in need of change.

 

To add to your AFAIK:

- For the final draw of Qatar2022 the results of these matches are completely irrelevant, i.e. will have zero impact on your ranking by the time of the final draw. It's a winter WC with the final draw taking place in April 2022. It's unlikely that the Oct. 2021 ranking will be used (contrary to Russia2018, a summer WC, with the final draw based on the Oct. 2017 ranking). Also, depreciation would have placed these results in the lowest yielding timeframe (in the unlikely event they'd still be taken into account). Even when you have aspirations to get as highly seeded as possible in the final draw this is the best time to experiment.

- For the European 2022WCQs the qualification process has not yet been announced. FIFA are reviewing their flawed rankings, especially because playing no/very few friendlies is how NTs gaming the rankings can get up there. As a general rule: avoid any friendlies in the year leading to the draw and every year limit the number of friendlies to the absolute minimum (e.g. Wales played 0 friendlies in the year before the 2018WCQ draw and ended up in pot 1). This rule is expected to be obsolete if somewhat competent people are reviewing the rankings. With the draw in July 2019 the highest yielding timeframe hasn't started (just in case the review fails to address FIFA's flawed ranking and it remains unchanged on that point). IIRC Holland were one of the few NTs that had a couple of their WC2014 results in a higher yielding timeframe. Other NTs saw all of their WC2014 results depreciate because FIFA should have calculated the rankings which were used for the July 2015 draw a handful of days later. It didn't help much though. Still FIFA should take better care of their rankings (or limit the impact they have). We'll have to wait and see if they're up to the task first and even then we'll have to act surprised when FIFA makes unusual decisions, as is their tradition.

- There's also the possibility that FIFA's World League or UEFA's (global) Nations League will be linked to WCQs. We can only speculate ATM. Yet seeding might be based on how well you perform in FIFA's World League/UEFA's (global) NL, cfr. UNL and seeding/play-offs for EURO2020.

- For the UEFA coefficient friendlies don't matter and with the creation of the UNL the impact of the coefficient is hardly worth taking into account (unlike friendlies, avoiding to play competitive matches harms your coefficient anyway).

TL;DR: these matches are most likely not that important for seeding spots

The Netherlands should look at Pep Lijnders...but good luck prying him away from Liverpool. Give him full control to hire who he wants and organize our developmental structure. We badly need a forward thinking, innovative young couch like him in the system.

Yes it was a great counter attack started and finished by Memphis. Babel has actually been much more effective than say Janssen. I've actually been impressed by his movement and one touch passing.

 

I just got home and I'm tuning in now to watch this debacle.
