The history books say that a John Harkes scored the first DCU goal vs the Metros/NYRB at RFK. Would be cool is Ian Harkes got one on Sunday.

This is probably asking too much but I hope Ben starts Miranda. What does he got to lose? If he doesn't like what he sees, he can always sub him out in the 2nd half.

Hopefully the weather will be better than MLS cup 2 where DC defeated Colorado at RFK on the same day as the Marathon. RFK was truly sold out

I liked the touch about the upper deck seats and the pupusa stand.

Goff reports that the club is expecting 35,000-38,000 on Sunday. (And that the first ever match had 35,000).

He also says Hamid not likely to play since his Danish club won't want him to...and he's already moved on mentally. I still think he should get one last match as a sendoff. But he'd probably get a hernia or pull a hammy.

It seems like The timing might reflect Bill not getting to start in front of that scout and not playing during Clark's evaluation games. If Bill really wanted to play this game, he'd be stateside right now. Oh well. It's not like DCU can put up a valid argument to force him in to the lineup; no playoffs or relegation. Both sides moved on weeks ago and now the public is wrapping their heads around the details as they emerge.

There were will be no Exit-ReEntry with The Legends game. Gates for that will open about 1 pm and the game itself will be at 1:45. Then gates will be fully open at 3 pm. Also your ticket has a specific bar code ID that once read at the turnstile won't allow that ID to do through again.

That's ridiculous. He's under contract with DCU. If DCU wants him to play, he's gotta be a pro and play. The Danish club can have no say.

I don't really care either way since he's gone anyway, but if Midtjylland wants him to sit, they can pay a transfer fee. If that's all true -- which I doubt, I would at least suit him up. Midtjylland is the king of free transfers and they know the way the system works.

For once, I think DCU will win easy, motivations here will be very different and especially Metros will line up a bunch of bimbos, since regardless of what happens they are stuck in 6th place and they're going to have a battle three or four days later. They will not come around to spoil the party, regardless of the fact that's what their fans would want, all they will care is to arrive fresh and not injured to the following game - which will be either in Chicago, Atlanta, Columbus or possibly even @ Yankees.

He can always refuse to. How are you going to force him? I think Clark should play and maybe Hamid enters one minute before the end or something like that. Truth is that Bill should have left a while ago, he probably would have, hadn't it been for all the injuries. Now he feels that this is the last train (although it is more an Amtrak Regional than a TGV) and he doesn't want to miss it. Is he to blame? I don't think so.

Should be an even match up and no team wants to go into a playoff coming off a mail in loss. The scum will go for a win.
The first match at RFK was a loss in front of 34,000 (the post game chant was DC, o and three) so no reason why they won't go for bookend Ls in the record book Saturday. Oh and they are in a neck and neck duel with LA for dead solid worst. How much pride can they have after this season?

There will be not much pride for DC United, but I think enough of it to win this game. I really don't think NYRB will want to risk players and legs for a totally meaningless game, it would be really foolish.

I agree. Marsch will play it smart and rest his main players. They can't move up. It's a completely meaningless match for them. (Doesn't mean they can't beat us with their scrubs, but if there's any pride in this organization it will come out on SUNDAY)

Then again we lost to Orlando resting players last year and then got crushed by MTL

    Not much pride?

This will be the largest crowd in years, RFK's finale, and ton's of former players and D.C. United legends in attendance. The pressure will be on to perform.

Heck, I hope some of our legends sneak into the locker room at halftime and speak up.

These guys have been under more pressure to perform this season than a geek on his wedding night with a centerfold model. Let the record stand in testimony they folded like a cheap umbrella. I have no faith whatsoever in this group top to bottom. Prove me wrong United

I hate the metros, they should all die in a fire, maybe a bus fire on I-95.

Does anyone have any idea how they're going to play this legends game? Will two captains pick sides live, at the start? Will lots be drawn? Will they put the superstars on one team and the less-super on another to get a big score? Will the DCU legends be one team with unlimited substitutions playing against the soccer equivalent of the Washington Generals? How can I guess at the final score of 7-2 without knowing more details?

I saved two buddy voucher tickets for the express reason to be able to exit after the "legends" game and come back in for the real game.

I had not anticipated the stupid marathon, we will have to figure out an alternate way to the stadium, how fun.

You can't force him, but he's violating the terms of his contract if he's refusing to play. The team could fine him and he's showing his immaturity if he refuses. Bill is under contract to DCU right now and while he's been a good citizen during his time with DCU these rumors would be black mark on his career. Any future NT coach will consider this when picking his roster. Free transfer BS like this definitely isn't tolerated in the UK or France where the two rumored candidates hail from.

In reality, I think this is all just message board BS. In all likelihood, Ben has told Bill to move on if he doesn't want to be with the team next season.

Why do people keep asking for Miranda? He’s not good and just because everyone else has been poor doesn’t mean we try someone probably worse.
