Best of luck in Mexico!! http://www.espnfc.com/mexican-liga-...teus-uribe-happy-to-join-mexicos-biggest-club
Mateus debuted earlier this week in Copa Mexico. His lack of training with the team is apparent, but I think he probably bought himself some minutes for tonight's match.
Beyond the goal, he played a great game. Super physical defending, sprayed the ball all over the pitch.
Damn golazo. The guy's in really good form and, now that the pressure is off, I think Pekerman is going to give him a start next month.
Como ayer con Muriel, el link de mi corta entrevista de Mateus Uribe después de Francia - Colombia, para los que eso interesa : https://www.cafooteros.com/2018/03/25/accumuler-les-matches-se-régler-profiter/
I've been doing a little bit of homework on Uribe. This guy is a demon of a player, he is super versatile and defensively reads the game very, very well. He can finish, can shoot with both feet and is very cool on the ball, being able to break from deep midfield positions and break lines with his pace and ability to dribble out of pressure on the ball. He can play RM, RB and all across CM, his only real weakness seems to be his passing range isn't super extended but he can finish really well and has a knack for getting into the box at good times. He's a very good player and is 5x more valuable then a guy like Abel as a CM right now, I think he should be a nailed on starter for us going forward and playing with James it allows James to drop deeper and get on the ball and Uribe can get forward to attack or break up play higher. He's perfectly suited for a high tempo pressing style which I'd like us to implement at some point, but this guy should not be playing at America much longer, way too good and way too attractive with up tempo style's that are being played at a lot of clubs in Europe. Very surprised he doesn't have more caps, but I think its clear from the France game that this guy is going to be a major piece for us going forward.
I would like to know where this rumor has come from because if they are basing from mexican media then im pretty sure this will not happen. But hopefully this is true! it is not easy to get out of the mexican cemetery #ElAlargue ¡Abre las alas el Águila!
Pekerman used him incorrectly during his starts but he's grown as a player and exhibits great confidence. Abel has A TON of maturity in high pressure games but I agree that you can't simply keep a guy with Uribe's talent on the bench based on his versatility. That $30mm price tag though is way high for a 28 year old MF with a non Euro passport. Consider that he's not proven in Euro grounds so that can sometimes be a bit of a crapshoot how he will adapt to a new system and life in Europe. Many clubs assume that 1st year is a transition year. Knock that price in half and along with a solid WC showing he'll be in Europe. Freaking Mexicans are no fools.
just to add, his play in the last couple friendlies, Pekerman has made the adjustment and used him in his proper role. Big difference.
How he is more expensive to Barrios who is at 13 million or Lerman 13-15 million euro is what was rumored to be the offer from The EPL. + Arias at 7 from PSv haha Mexicans expect more then 3 of those dudes combined
Yeah Abel has been a very good player for us and is composed and reads the game very well, but age comes for us all and when we have to tactically adjust for Falcao who often isn't involved in the game until it comes time to finish its really difficult to have a guy like Abel. He can't cover a lot of ground, he can't dribble and he can't defend very well, his passing is good but its not lights out, if we are going to play with a player of that profile he needs to offer a lot more offensively, he doesn't. Uribe fits perfectly, he wins a ton of balls and is a press resistant player, allowing a release valve for James. His profile is one that should is in high demand minus his age. He can play multiple positions defends and attacks very well, he's just one of the most versatile players around, but 30m for a player unproven in Europe is steep. The prices are crazy these days and if he has a great World Cup I can easily see him in Europe but 30m seems like opening a negotiation, so does the story about Real Madrid tracking him. The Mexicans are no fools, and I think they are hyping a player leading up to a World Cup in the hopes to get some attention and cash in, and rightly so he should be playing at the highest level imo.
America(Mex) are a big Mktg juggernaut in latin america with much success. But talking about a player v player, keep in mind that Matheus offers something the other 2 you mention don't have === scoring ability. I can see a lot of similarities in Lerma and Barrios as they are cut from a similar cloth. But Matheus has a bit more vision and versatility and can offer both the defensive mind of a DMF and forward progression of an AMF.
