Death of a Dynasty. It goes back maybe 20-25 years with Keller. 07-08 there 4 starting keepers in the PL who were Yanks. For many years there were 3. That is something to celebrate.
Btw Guzan leaves England with having played 201 games across 3 teams ( 154 games in the PL with 30 cleansheets). He was also AV's Player of the Year in 2012-13.
Just as a point of interest, Victor Valdez has decided to leave Boro as well........http://www.mfc.co.uk/news/article/2016/middlesbrough-fc-boro-victor-valdes-bard-guzan-3724439.aspx
Guzan is on the "Retained" list for Middlesbrough, but I don't know if that means anything at this point. I don't know why he is on it. https://www.premierleague.com/news/408901
The word retained implies that the club took some sort of affirmative action to keep a player on the roster. However, the EPL isn't MLS and while some academy contracts might have a club option, many players on those lists clearly have guaranteed deals. I suspect it is just confirmation that Guzan has a contract for next year, which he technically does until the MLS transfer window opens and he is sold/transferred.
i just want to know if ole Guzan is on DP wages. I mean surely he must be. Would he have left the PL for 350-400 K a year? But I can't see him making anything north of a million.
Atlanta United goalkeeper Brad Guzan has a $340,000 base salary and is earning $400,000 including a pro-rated share of compensation not specified to a specific year.
