Just absolutely blown away at how disciplined and well-coached that Iranian defense is. This is a textbook example of what we should be playing as. It's the advantages of having a good coach like Quieroz in charge for a long time.

On the other hand, I haven't seen Korean football this awful ever since that cursed 2004 Asia Cup (where we incidentally lost to Iran).

If Korea draw Uzb and Syria beat Iran, Syria are 2nd and Korea 3rd.
If Korea lose to Uzb and Syria beat Iran, Syria and Uzbeks are 2nd and 3rd(more likely Syria 2nd) and Korea out.
If Syria tie Iran and Korea tie Uzb, Korea 2nd Syria 3rd.

Iran tie or beat Syria, then Korea are at least 3rd.

What a shitty performance yet again from this hapless outfit. We barely deserve to go to the WC, where we would get bundled out of the Group Stage no doubt. These guys could not hit the side of a barn.

The stamp by the Persian player was disgraceful and he ought to be ashamed of himself. Should we be surprised though?

I think if there was no red card, ironically Korea could have won. If Iran decide to close down no asian team can score on them. Nigeria and even Argentina almost failed to score. But at the same time Iran are not likely to score against quality opponents when they do that. Once they decided to open up they lost 1-3 to Bosnia? I don't see Iran going very far in WC.

the higher goal (no pun intended, by goal i mean purpose) wins my friend. if you are not intelligent enough to detect it, stay silent. tip: dont take too literally what you read.

 

our team is stronger this time. we have younger and faster players. its true, once we open up against strong teams we concede. but you also got to realize that our 2014 team didnt have much depth so the starting 11 were tired from the argentina match when playing bosnia, and CQ didnt have much faith in our attacking ability so he didnt even practice attacking combinations: we were a one dimensional team with no plan B, just defend+counter. he even left our best and more creative attacker out of the team (khalatbari, who was dominating in the asian CL at that time) in order to bring a backup defensive midfielder who didnt even play. CQ just wanted 3 draws in that world cup, he only wanted to qualify to the 2nd round by virtue of luck. this time we will improve in these aspects. but yea, i dont know if we are good enough to make it to the 2nd round. hopefully we get an easy draw. i want to go to the round of 16 for once, before the format chances in 2026.

 

^ CQ said his goal this time is specifically making the knockout round. Let's see what we'll do, personally I think it's 50-50, a good draw and IMO we can do it
