Chances are Craig Paulson is the kind of person who feels he must show authoritah and he's letting this get to his head. And damn it.
Terrible challenge by Cahill. I think lots of refs would have gave him a yellow but it was a reckless tackle. Cahill is a liability when we have the ball... terrible start. Courtois poor on the goal. Michy showing why Conte never played him last season. He keeps losing possession.
You have paid zero attention to the way this league is refereed in the last several years if you can't comprehend that going in studs up, contact or not, is HIGHLY liable to result in a red. His challenge was absolutely idiotic and he has only himself to blame. Dumb as dirt, Rudiger or Andreas will displace him soon enough.
And I think we'll be the better for it. Not much to base this off of, but I don't think that Cahill offers anything that either of them don't.
Take your blue tinted glasses off and go watch it again. He is an idiot. Done with this conversation. Bats is having a mare.
It was reckless. A lunge of desperation. I can see why he gave a red. Cahill gave the ref a chance to send him off, so the blame is surely his. I really don't see any way we comeback and get 3 points. Michy has been absolute shit so far. He's lost the ball into him 7 times so far I've already counted.... only positive going forward is Willian. Rudiger looks good too.
How can you forget when he has given the ball to the other team at every opportunity? He has been awful.
Not sure I would've given a red, but I think it was a justifiable decision, certainly not the outrage some are proclaiming. Now Alonso's yellow on the other hand was utterly ridiculous, as is the leniency shown to Burnley in comparison.
Between the ref an the ludicrous Burnley finishing, this game couldn't be worse. Also, Michy has been awful.
cahill tackle was a bit reckless but he went more sideways to block, not straight in. studs were up but not facing forward. if every challenge that showed studs was sent off for the game would never finish with full squads. it was a yellow. but it doesn't really matter because the ref was intent from minute one to stamp his name on the game with the nothing burger yellow to Alonso. then went on a power trip. cahill was stupid to do what he did, but i don't think it's a straight red. as i'm typing chelsea have let in two. 3-0
