The bus getaway is well worth the bus trip down

Sure, they are typically great for the big games. Colombus was an awesome bar party. Honduras in SJ will go down in history as the Landon Donovan Taco Truck Dive.

Yeah the Honduras WCQ Night Before Party was at best 'just ok' until LD, Lalas and Stone showed up and jumped off the taco truck. The previous NBP in SJC before the Colombia Copa America game at Avaya Stadium (game was Levi's, NBP at Avaya) was one of the worst I ever attended. To me, most of the home pre-match tailgaters and NBPs are pretty much the same, like the Gold Cup final events in SJC last month. I'm hoping NYC will be a good one next month.

We've been pushing to have NBPs in SF for games in SJ but no luck thus far.

I lived in The City for 5 years so I'd love that. SF is my favorite US city. But transportation would be a problem. I've used the train before but it's not that easy. Traffic always sucks at rush hour going up there. We (AO San Diego) usually send anywhere from 5 to 20+ up there for a game and most of us don't have cars, we just rely on Uber. I think another factor is SJC is a really strong chapter due to strong leadership and SF less so for various reasons.

For the Seattle Copa America quarterfinal (Ecuador) the NBP was in Tacoma. Not sure if you went to that one, but it wasn't one of the better ones. Part of the issue was I think a lot of people didn't go because of the distance. We rented a car and crammed a bunch of us in it. Matchday in Seattle though was great!

It'll be interesting in NY/NJ for CRC. I understand it's fairly easy getting into the city on the train, not sure about getting back. But I think most people (me for sure) are excited about going into Manhattan for the NBP at Smithfields.

I'm sort of getting bored with Jack's so next time we play in SJC I'll push for SF too!

There's no way I'd go to Tacoma for anything. That's like having the NBP in Stockton

We have a ton of interest in SF. We get great crowds for big games, but few in SF are willing to travel down to SJ for night before parties. So it would be great to organize a party up here even if a game is down there. There could be parties in both cities.

Caltrain between SJ and SF is pretty easy nowadays, particularly with an express train.

You can also life hack it if there are no convienent Caltrains by taking an uber to the new Bart station south of Fremont, and then Barting into the city through the East Bay.

Leadership in SF is in the process of being repaired. It is an unfortunate situation, but the plan is to start re establishing leadership presence with the Costa Rica game.

Jazzy, i was at McTeagues for the Martinique game last month. Good crowd and bar and location, but far too few people for that big of a city. Everyone seemed like good people though and hope the group keeps growing.

But i digress, talking about AO SF in the US/Mex away thread... my bad.

The crowds vary highly depending on the time of the game, the opponent, and the competition. Martinique with our B-Squad on a Wednesday is not a big draw. We also have a leadership issue right now due to a very unfortunate event that is being fixed. But we do very well for qualifiers, and other big games. It was absolutely packed for the Saturday game against CR. I heard there was a line outside the door for the Azteca qualifier.

I have an AO friend who recently moved from SF to Seattle. According to him, Mcteagues gets MUCH better crowds than the alleged "Soccer City" AO bar for USA games. So I think we are doing pretty well, and once the leadership issue is repaired we will maximize our potential.

And I think we can continue this discussion here because this thread will just die otherwise. The "Supporters Group Forum" is absolutely dead anyway.

Yeah really not a big deal to talk about whatever in a game thread that's already passed

Also, let me know next time you are at Mcteagues. We probably were chatting, I was there for that game too.

I'd be up for a SF party, any excuse to get back there.
