  1. It is going to be different after Brexit. They now grab kids at 16, which is cheap. After Brexit the age at last jumps to 18, but with work permits problems arising it could dry up completely. Add to that the future salary cap now in study within the UEFA, things are going to be very different in a year or 2,3.

Chalobah wanted to play. He wouldn't play at Chelsea. He told the club, the club sold him. He was in the later part of his contract = low fee.

As for integrating youth, the Dortmund example is funny. They have the reputation for youth integration, but only a couple players have come through recently (Pulisic one of them).

Funny enough, Rudiger started at BvB and left to get playing time. Now he's a Blue.

Before people get up in arms over Bonucci's impending sale to Milan, consider that he is a human.

Apparently, he does not get along with the coach there, but more importantly, he has a son with serious health issues. He does not want to come to England. Nothing to do with the aptitude of our Board, manager, low-ball offers, etc.

Chalobah... kid deserved so much more time than he was given. My problem is less with the sales but rather our insistence on often sticking with underperformers who need to see the bench.

How many completely shit performances did Ivan put in before he was no longer a starter? Way.too.********ing.many.

Matic probably should have seen way more of the bench in the last 2 years. Serially inconsistent.

Willian, who I now like much more, has had an embarrassing statline. And no, I'm not going to sit here and entertain the fact that people are OK with one of our 3 forwards, who starts every single game, only scoring a couple of goals outside of freekicks and not even getting a good number of assists.

Diego Costa is allowed 4 month stretches of garbage play and Michy couldn't get more than 5 minutes MAYBE.

And Nathan Ake not seeing time over Gary Cahill? Come the ******** onnnnn

I get that we won the league but just as with Jose's title winning season, there are some pretty frustrating aspects to how things are run. The lack of rotation is ridiculous, especially when kids like Nate come on and look completely competent.

So the Chalobah deal is for £5.5m and a 5 year deal. It is now also believed that there is a buyback clause and a sell on clause. Changes my opinion slightly. Still not happy about it.

So, here's our squad with notes. Not a squad that will fight for trophies in my opinion.

    GK:
    Courtois
    Caballero
    Eduardo

    Defense
    Alonso
    Azpilicueta
    Cahill
    Kalas (LOAN?)
    Miazga (SELL/LOAN)
    Luiz
    Rudiger
    Zouma (LOAN)
    Christensen

    Midfield
    Chalobah (SOLD)
    Willian
    Cesc
    Hazard (coming off injury)
    Kante
    Matic (SELL?)
    Moses
    Kenedy (LOAN/SELL?)
    Bakayoko (INCOMING)

    Forwards
    Michy
    Pedro
    Remy (LOAN/SELL?)
    Costa (SELL)

I wonder with Bakayoko incoming, Conte wants to play a 3-5-2, with Baka and Kante in the middle doing dirty work and Cesc freed to pass his ass off.

    So many gaps though.

There are far too many parallels between this close season and the one after Jose's last winning season. 2014/15. I hope we don't end up with a similar season to 2015/16

Not going to happen. There is a tremendous difference in how our season went/ended versus when Jose won it with us. The only similarity is our struggles in the transfer market imo.

Not sure I agree. This transfer market is telling.

Pulisic isn't really a Dortmund product. he was with the club for something like 12-18 months before he made his first appearance. he was just recognized and promoted quickly.

FFS...so @CarefreeYouth who is pretty well connected (similar to @chelseayouth) is saying he has heard from a source inside the club that there isn't a buyback. He was also the one who said Nate was leaving and thst it would be finalized last night.

To be fair, we already have spent more money than we did that season on Rudiger, and we'll make more signings.

But I agree, Roman has a weird tendency to stand pat after title winning seasons.

Our team was going nowhere under Jose. Poorest 2nd half of season performance from a league winner ever. Even with bad transfers, this team is top 4 relatively easily. 15/16 was an anomaly.

Not to say I'm pretty disappointed thus far. Really thought we'd have made some kind of power move for a player by now.

I'm talking specifics with the market. This is very telling.

Bonucci is moving to Milan in a deal that has taken days, we're doing Bakayoko's medical over the course of a month. We move at a snails pace while other top clubs get deals done in days.

    You're right.

Even more of a cas against BvB being youth oriented.

I've read that the reason for the delay is the knee scope Baka had and Chelsea taking extra care in getting two or three extra opinions. All linked directly to how they were burned with Torres.

Also, transfers take forever. There are a lot of good behind the scenes articles about it. So much back and forth and negotiating. If you've ever bought a house, I imagine its like that, but buying 10 houses at once all with different agents.

He had a very good loan to Fulham last year. They are brining him back on.

Blue made a point that resonates massively with me.

It takes ONE SEASON, ONE ********ING SEASON for a player to be worth nothing to be worth 40 million pounds... our scouts get paid out the ass to find options that aren't flamingly obvious (*COUGH*LUKAKU*COUGH*) and find those players who end up being amazing finds.

Worth noting that our very own Mario Pasalic kept Bakayoko on the bench two seasons ago.

Also, until shown otherwise, I do not believe we'll spend huge sums on transfers like £50m on Sanchez or £60m on Sandro or more on anyone else. We are not the free spending club we are made out to be. We still have a positive net spend in the transfer market over the last few seasons. Let that sink in.

Sure, doesn't change the fact that we are slow however as the last two transfer windows shows. It also doesn't explain why other clubs get shit done.

Hell a team under a transfer ban have brought in as many players as we have....

Barca just got Semedo from Benfica and Deulofeu.

Ceballos just went to Madrid from Betis and they snagged Hernandez from Atleti.

All these moves are happening quickly. We've been linked with Baka for over a month. Sandro for damn near a month. Nothing.

True, on the surface. Fact is that the club has attempted big money moves. Failed 90 something mil Pogba bid. Failed Nainngolan bid. Failed Koulaby (spelling?) bid. Failed Alex Sandro bid (actually seeing a lot of rumors still swirling around for him, so maybe there is a chance).

The clubs obviously got the money to blow and has tried. It just isn't working.

Also worth noting that Claude Makelele helped Bakayoko (along with other Monaco youngsters) achieve great heights. Football is a funny game.
