I'll go by Kopke's word on keepers and these are the keepers in contention. That we should eye before the new season/pre-WC. Neuer, Ter Stegen, Leno, Trapp, Horn , Fahrmann, Baumann, Karius, Zieler and most likely a new addition in Pollersbeck. from that list Zieler and Karius are in the worst positions and most reports have Zieler leaving Leicester. While Karius wants to fight for 1st place. -Neuer, Ter Stegen, Trapp, Baumann are all playing CL next season. -Horn is getting some EL. -Leno like Zieler is rumored to be changing clubs, so depending on where he goes, he could get some Europe next season. -while Fahrmann and Pollersbeck only get League and Cup. -Karius......bench?
Germany has been extremely fortunate always having real great GK ... Meier , Schumacher , Illgner, Köpke, Kahn , Lehmann and Neuer ( probably the best of them all) .... with the new guys like Leno and co.... do you see any of them that have the potential to be as great at Meier, Kahn or neuer ?
I think the one who needs to be kicked out is Trapp. Has played 0 games this season. Bring someone else to fight for 3rd place with Leno, who I think at this rate will end up as 3rd. as Neuer and Ter Stegen are set for #1 and #2.
Robin Zentner made his debut this week for the 1st team. he came on in the German Cup for injured Adler, allowed 2 goals but both were Penalty kicks. Then in his Bundesliga debut yesterday, he only allowed 1 goal vs Frankfurt which was an own goal from a defender. decent start, in 2 games no opponent scored on him in open play.
Odisseas Vlachodimos with a clean sheet victory, as Panathinaikos beat Olympiacos 1-0. It's also his 4th CS of the season through 9 league matches.
Should be benched after that. I consider Jannik Huth to be better than him anyways. The younger, Florian Müller also looks to have been decent in his matches with the reserves.
#Mainz05 hat Florian Müller langfristig an sich gebunden. Der 19-jährige Torwart hat seinen Vertrag frühzeitig bis zum Jahr 2022 verlängert! pic.twitter.com/pg74iIgDdO— 1. FSV Mainz 05 (@1FSVMainz05) November 10, 2017
Kevin Trapp speaks towards leaving PSG on the winter, as he wants to make WC roster and understands that he needs to play in order to do so. http://www.fussballtransfers.com/bundesliga/deutliche-worte-trapp-spricht-von-wintertransfer_84276
speaking of Ter Stegen. 4 - @FCBarcelona have just conceded four goals in La Liga this season, their best start in terms of goals conceded after the first 12 games ever. Valverde pic.twitter.com/gsCxSDkLO1— OptaJose (@OptaJose) November 18, 2017 he has 8 clean sheets in 12 games played in the league+ 3 out 4 clean sheets when it comes to CL football.
Pollersbeck is apparently only considered to be the third choice keeper at HSV right now behind Mathenia and Mickel. http://m.bild.de/sport/fussball/hsv/neuer-artikel-53912136.bildMobile.html
seems like this was a very bad move on Pollersbeck's behalf and another keeper prospect is roting away.
Sven Ulreich who has 5 clean sheets this season tied with Burki and Fahrmann at the top. From those 5, 4 happened in the last 5 games played. Sven Ulreich on his future: "There is no tendency as of now. I will see how the games will go then there will be talks at some point. But right now, I'm completely focused on the next games" [tz] Ulreich: "I will be 30 in the summer. That's a good age for a goalkeeper. I have options, either in Germany or I could also imagine myself leaving the Bundesliga - but not to China" Ulreich: "I feel comfortable at Bayern. I'm just glad I'm getting my chance right now, that's a nice thing, and I'm trying to enjoy it as much as possible" Ulreich: "Of course it would be difficult for me to return to the bench when Manu will be back, But I knew that would come and I don't regret joining Bayern https://twitter.com/iMiaSanMia most rumors during the summer, had him stay for one more season as his contract is done in Summer 2018 too. From the 2nd and 4th tweet doesn't seem like he's staying at Bayern. Wonder where he could fit in the BL beyond Bayern? Tom Starke is also just a temporary comeback and is the current 2nd keeper. I do wonder if Fruchtl who currently seems to be 3rd choice will jump to 2nd place during Summer 2018 or get a loan if Bayern get someone to be back up or just stay as the 3rd keeper.
Ter Stegen has saved 87% of the shots he's faced in La Liga this season, stopping 34 of the 39 shots Barça conceded on target. Impeccable.— Rafael Hernández (@RafaelH117) November 19, 2017 this guy made an error since Barca have only conceded 4 goals this season and not 5 like the tweet says. The # should be more like 89-90% of the shots were saved.
Fabian Bredlow is Nürnberg's new #1 choice keeper. http://m.bild.de/sport/fussball/1-f...rgs-neue-nummer-eins-53923298.bildMobile.html
looking at his career path he played in the 3rd division before making a move to 2nd. Maybe more keepers should try his example, impress there and then move up. Better 3rd division, than playing in the reserves-4th division.
I think we're at a point where keepers are going to be in the mid-20's before becoming a starter in the first division(s). Players like Neuer, Baumann, Fährmann, Leno, Horn, Mathenia, Zieler, etc are going to be around for some time in the Bundesliga. And I don't expect them to be going anywhere in the next few years. So they'll be holding down their spot for a while. Even Mainz brought in the veteran Adler and only when he got injured did Zentner get a chance to play. And they still have Huth and Müller on the sidelines waiting. Neuer is 31 now but I think he still has at least 3 or 4 years as Bayern's #1. So Früchtl will need to be patient. Going out on loan for some time would help too. Especially if Ulreich stays too.
