Why are you guys so angry that he would want that clause inserted?

Donna has the potential to be the best keeper of his generation. He wants assurances that the team will be competing. You don't think you can get the 4th spot in the league? That's basically the statement being made by rejecting the clause.

The interesting thing will be if you guys actually sell him or stay true to the words that he will sit in the stands for a year. Time to put up or shut up.

For €10m if we don't make CL next year, and you are having trouble understanding how that's a ruse? It's basically a new team that will take time to gel and grow. Enough with the instant gratification. We all can't be like Madrid with your tax absolvement and pay ridiculous amounts of money each year to sign the next shiney object.

The only one suggesting that he sit in the stands has been ME. To my knowledge management hasn't said anything.

And I'd have no issue, as I imagine management did not, with a €100m + clause entered so that teams like yours don't automatically activate it without thought.

    What is Mino's backstory?

    who were his parents?

    is he connected ?

It's not the release clause that's offensive, it's the amount of money that Mino quoted.

If the price had been more like 50m+, then it would be a more understandable demand (even if I think release clauses are one of the stupidest things a club can do). But for 10m euros, especially in today's transfer market, it's basically Raiola indirectly stating that Donnarumma wants the club to sell him.

Between that or a player refusing to sign a new contract, the refusal is at least an honest way of making his wishes known.

I also think the timing makes the decision even more foolish. He should have left last summer if he was so concerned about winning trophies in the future.

But now it's a decision that seems not only stupid, but senseless.

Milan has had a fantastic mercato (at least on paper) so far. It's clear that the club is taking their return to Europe seriously, even if it is the Europa League. And even if the Milan doesn't challenge for trophies this season, the squad will be young enough to seriously challenge for titles in the upcoming years.

Of course there are no guarantees. What looks good on paper may not translate into results on the pitch. But the new ownership is showing itself to be competent and committed (this assumes that there will be no problems with FFP). The club's administrators not only seem to know what they're doing, but they're actually doing what they've been saying there were going to do.

If he's so concerned about the future of the club, why is he leaving when the club's future looks better than it has in nearly a decade? Especially at the age of 18 ffs.

You see this phenom comes up through the academy; reach out and grab the number 1 from a guy like Lopez; looking like he plays his heart out for Milan; And hes gone... I am a little heartbroken to say the least, but no one is bigger than the club not even Gigio.

    From football-italia;
Ex-Rossoneri striker Massaro was also present in the studio and posited a theory about agent Raiola’s plans,

“When Inter put a contract in front of me promising anything I wanted, I turned it down, preferring to respect Milan and end my career in Japan.

“I don’t know whose fault this is, but the fact remains Donnarumma has taken the fans for a ride. If his saves helped Milan earn six points in the first half of the season, it’s also true to say he lost them six in the second half.

“I think Donnarumma already has another deal lined up and in my view he’s going to Juventus.”

    LMAO.

To all these people saying Donnarumma will end up at Juve, did Gigi Buffon just cease to exist or something?

There's no way that he'd displace Buffon for at least another season, and I can't imagine that he'd be willing to sit on the bench until Gigi retires. And there's a snowball's chance in hell that we'd pay a second choice keeper anything like 4.5m+ euros.

This has "Real Madrid" written all over it.

The fact that Raiola met with Marotta and co. before meeting with Milan is meaningless. He's Moise Kean's agent and we're trying to negotiate his first professional contract.

(And that's going about as well as expected...)

Sky Sport Italia: PSG offered Donnarumma a huge contract + house & personal driver but he'll accept no other destination than Real Madrid.

I didnt know Gattuso was your primavera coach... one of my favorite azzurri players ever.

What sweet karma it would be if he was sent down for a year to the primavera and had to train under him... he probaly would quit and walk away and sit at home instead.

According to reports, Gianluigi Donnarumma’s agent Mino Raiola met with Juventus before turning down the Milan contract extension.

The papers are having a blast with this story.

Milan getting top 4 in the league is, frankly, pretty absurd.

The way you are overpaying to bring in players Id imagine you could do the same for coaches and bring in Carlo. Honestly think you might be better off letting Montella finish the season then you'll bring in Conte for shitloads in the summer. Might be able to successfully use Bonbon then
