I wouldn't list Nathan, I have no gripes with how the merchandise side is run, I wish he would have been able to keep the online store open but that was nixed by the league after a big fight. I'll never order anything from the mls.com store because of how they did that crap
    NO shit, sherlock.
So they just show up a few hours early that day and have nothing to do with setting expectations and making demands of a facility they are running a game out of? Don't be stupid.
Mont Cty park and/or the soccer authority take their biggest cues from the host team, and I imagine they would do as liitle as possible with no clear direction, I would too. United were probably offered a few options and made the bad decision to take the lowest effort/cost one instead of taking the combination of crowd and facility into account. 5200 at RFK would be a piece of cake and they could have skated by with no effort at all, but that place is different and it is not like they haven't been there before to know that.

You'll notice I blamed them both. And even if it was all MC ********ing all that up, United put their face on that game they should have been out walking the lines or something, they were clueless. Or blaming the 'plex the next morning in an apology letter ;)

Anyway, I hope you're right and next fall when the new stadium opens under their direct control, we'll never see bad crowd management like we have at the other places we've played.

See I do because to me the team store has gown downhill same as the rest of the game day experience the last few years. I will cite a recent example from the last game. My brother went into the store to look around. He found a jersey on the sale rack. The sign on the rack said 50-70% off. It had a tag on it for $70. So he figured it cost $35, add a name and then pay $40-45. That works. When he goes to check out they say it costs $90. They then begin to tell him that the discount had already been taken off with the $70 tag. Now how hard is it to have the sign also say "Priced as marked." Not that hard. Now that is not my only complaint about the team store but it is a recent example of the issues I am talking about.

Does anyone know when the draw takes place today? I'm hoping for another game in Boyds/Gtown so I can take the father-in-law to see DCU.

I'm not sure Ballimer sports fans will consistently go anywhere they don't serve Natty Bo. IMHO bad beer bad soccer and bad traffic is no incentive to spend hard earned money and scarce leisure time
Not uncommon in the sorry world of retail lately.

Only three non-MLS teams left. Worst Open Cup ever.

I'm amused that Cincinnati is in the South. Maybe, but only if you're restricted to Ohio only.

Pretty standard I think, I read something earlier that said every year MLS teams win at least 70% of the time. 13/16 sounds about right. However, I'm no mathematician ;)

Maybe you're right. But every single game featured at least one MLS team. That seems weird to me. I could totally be wrong though.

They beat the New York Blue Mother *********ers.

Also seems like a good place to mention that due to the CCL restructuring, the 2017 Open Cup Champion will enter the 2019 CCL.

Unreal. I got to hope DCU can advance to have a chance to go to a game with my father-in law.

Unless something has changed, DCU is on a long stretch on the road between June 21 - July 16.

EDIT: So they play Atlanta the first day (June 21) he comes in. Not sure if it'll be feasible.

Nathan is doing a great job with his hands tied. We had the best store when he was able to run it his way, but MLS took over the website and well anyone who goes to matches knows not to order through the website.
I HOPE he gets free reign in the new stadium, but who knows with MLS.

It is easy to blame Ben but look at the cards he has to play with (this is the same for the first team). Bringing on seasoned vets to play with young reserves makes sense. Problem is that those young reserves are not as good as they think they are. You have to play with some heart, not go through the motions. This is the chance to prove to Ben that he should play them more. Ben should get more credit for getting things accomplished with his lackluster roster than many will not give him.

Here is the scoop on Christos. They may not train but they play a lot of soccer. Amateur qualifiers for the Lamar Hunt Open Cup started in September. They also play in the fall in the Maryland Major Soccer League in Baltimore and have won the league the last two years. They merged with the Maryland Bays (another MMSL side) who won the league for 6 straight seasons prior. After the fall season was complete, they enter into the Maryland State Soccer Association cups. Those competitions start in January and usually are completed by March. Christos did the state treble the last two years (their O-30 team has a rich history as well). By winning the Rowland (open) & Stewart (amateur) Cups, they then went on to represent Maryland in the US Adult Soccer Region I qualifiers (Werner Fricker Cup (open) & US Amateur Cup). Those qualifiers started in April. This weekend, Christos will play in the Region I final of the Werner Fricker Cup. Last season, Christos not only won the Region I double but also the national double. That qualified them for the US National Amateur Championship, the Hank Steinbrecher Cup, that was played a few weeks ago. They also played 3 Open Cup rounds. Add to the fact that there is a UMBC connection on the team, there is a reason why the team has cohesion despite not training. It is a successful team and was the best amateur side among state league participants in the country. It is more than a rec side.

I spoke briefly with UMD coach Sasho Cirovski at the Plex, and asked him if he had alumni on both teams. He said he did. I know DCU has plenty of UMD players on their roster, but didn't think the same was true for Christos. UMBC for sure, though.
