eh.........the way the 6 plays in the 4 man line today, he really has to stay put more than a 3rd cb.
Despite being a new face at the Estadio Hidalgo, Gonzalez wasted little time taking an immediate leadership role with the Tuzos. In each of his first two matches, Gonzalez has shown a commanding presence, as he’s organized a Pachuca defense that has conceded just once in two games. https://www.lagalaxy.com/post/2016/...gonzalez-talks-about-his-move-pachuca-insider
A fairly scientific poll with some interesting, but not unusual results: SSFC’s USMNT Lineup Project: The Results http://www.starsandstripesfc.com/us...402376/ssfcs-usmnt-lineup-project-the-results The closest contest was Bradley's partner in the two 6 formation. Acosta edged JJ .
I haven't done this for a while. Here's a whoscored best XI. I threw in Sofascore numbers for Mexico ----------------------------------Wood (6.72 BL)----Sapong (7.33 MLS) Johnson (6.52 BL)--- Cameron (7.11 EPL)---Feilhaber (7.49 MLS)------Pulisic (6.93 BL) Bornstein (6.79 Mex)----Brooks (6.98 BL)----Hedges (7.41 MLS)---------Zusi (7.32 MLS) --------------------------------------------------Guzan (6.47 EPL) and a backup XI -----------------------------------Nguyen (7.3 MLS)---Agudelo (7.24 MLS) Nagbe (7.17 MLS)---------Morales (6.61 BL)-----McCarty (7.27 MLS)-------Chandler (6.88 BL) Garza (6.9 MLS)----Zimmerman (7.31 MLS)-----Miazga (6.88 Ered.)-------Yedlin (7.05 Champ) ---------------------------------------------------Melia (7.12 MLS) The third keeper is Hamid (7.07 MLS)
I'd def like to see it given a legit chance. Will be interesting to see if arena views Cameron as a CB or CM when we have a full team. Caused he played a lot of 8 for Stoke this year.
----------Wood----Dempsey---- ---Johnson------------------Pulisic---- ----------Roldan----Bradley--- -Villafana------------------------Yedlin--- ----------Brooks----Cameron---- ----------------Howard---- Of course, G-Cam starts in CM if he isn't on the backline. Wood and Dempsey showed great chemistry playing up top in the Copa. Johnson is more LM than LAM.
-----------Wood----Dempsey---- ---Saief------------------------Pulisic---- -----------Acosta----Bradley--- -Johnson-------------------------Yedlin--- ----------Brooks----Cameron---- -----------------Howard- or ----------------------Wood-------- ----------Johnson-----------Pulisic---- ---Saief----Acosta----Bradley-----Lichaj--------- ---------Ream----Brooks----Cameron---- ---------------------Howard- Assuming Saief does well in the upcoming matches.
Because Cameron is kind of between a cb/fb/cdmid, he may just decide that the solution is to play a 3 man back line with Cameron as the middle cb. I wouldn't mind.
He is def a great fit in the middle of a back 3 but to play our 3 best CB's ideally he'd be RCB and Brooks in middle with Besler at LCB. I'm just sure Brooks can turn his hips well enough to play in the middle of the 3. And if Cameron is in the middle and Brooks is LCB the right CB can't be Gonzo unless we want our back 3 to be a back 5.
against CONCACAF or WC group punching bag Dempsey Wood Saief Bradley Pulisic Acosta Fab Brooks Cameron Yedlin Howard against Colombia or Argentina or Mexico or other buzzsaw of attacking quality I think we will have to advance the ball via our wingbacks and take some yellow cards to turn bewildering combinations by the opposing team into free kicks for the opposing team. we would be dangerous from set pieces I think Altidore Saief Bradley Pulisic Acosta Johnson Brooks Omar Cameron Yedlin Howard
Don't you guys want to see how Saief plays at the Gold Cup before projecting him as a starter with the A-team? I'll never understand why people slot uncapped players into their Best XI.
---------------Wood----------------- ------Nagbe---------Pulisic-------- FJ-----Bradley--Acosta---Yedlin ----Besler---Brooks---Cam------ --------------Howard---------------- Or maybe stick with the back 3 we rolled out vs. Mexico.
Why would you not put Jozy where you put Nagbe? How many goals does Nagbe have? Somebody bring me a microscope. Jozy's through pass is 10x better than Nagbe's.
3 in the back is perfect for the upper end of our pool right now. We have depth for days at CB and an above-average group of outside backs (for a national team) in FJ, Yedlin and Chandler. Love jaxonmills' selection except that I would flip Nagbe and Pulisic, although that seems pretty fluid anyway. Also, FJ simply cannot play anything but wingback/fullback for us. He's at his best when running into space, not making square passes in the middle of the pitch.
Johnson's lack of stamina and durability means wingback is probably not for him. He also hasn't excelled at the position with Gladbach. On the right, Nagbe could provide a better attacking presence than some of the other options are capable of. ----------------------Wood-------- ----------Johnson-----------Pulisic---- ---Saief----Acosta----Bradley-----Nagbe--------- ---------Ream----Brooks----Cameron---- ---------------------Howard-
..........Wood ..............Altidore .......................Pulisic Zardes..................................Chandler ........................Bradley Acosta ... Brooks....Cameron....Yedlin .........................Horvath
Yeah, I agree on FJ as a wingback. That is a position where you do a lot of unrewarded running and not sure that is what he is up for.
