Szczesny had a great season at Roma...
Curious that allegri has signed him to replace the best gk of his generation yet there was no space for him at Arsenal
Wenger still upset about that shower cigarette?

Or not. Assuming Debuchy leaves, we can only buy three players over age 21 because of squad size limits.

It helps to look at the details before you flip out.

Wojciech Szczesny’s agent has claimed the player will not discuss moving to Juventus until he has first talked to Arsene Wenger about his future at Arsenal. (Independent)

    There is hope.

I think Ospina will go. He is a #1 keeper, but he won't get the playing time he needs if he stays at Arsenal. Plus there have been rumors several clubs in Turkey want him for the last two years or so.

Here is what I would like to happen with the keepers. Ospina is sold. Cech remains the #1, but Szczesny returns and learns from Cech. Then Martinez is loaned to Roma or another team not in England, but in the top league where he will be the #1 and have a chance to grow in a higher league than the Championship.

This way we can see if Szczesny has improved while at Roma(all reports seem to indicate he has) and he gets to pick Cech's brain.

Really don't think he wanted to come back. He will sit a season at Juventus and barely play until Buffon retires. If he came back to Arsenal he would likely get to compete with Cech and could possibly be our starter this season. Oh well, Cech can get the job done and we can find a quality young keeper to come up behind him.

Uh . . . Ospina is 28 years old. Emiliano Martinez is 24.

We're not signing another keeper for the foreseeable future.

Ospina is gonna be sold. He's 28 and played just 14 games this season and 50 since joining Arsenal (3 seasons). He is gonna want more games. Someplace where he can be the starter. No way he gets that here.

Maybe Emiliano is our backup next season. Maybe we loan him again and get a more experienced backup. Time will tell.

You're entitled to your opinion, but there hasn't been a peep this year about Ospina wanting more games or being unhappy as our back up.

He was rumored to be on his way out when we signed Cech 2 seasons ago and it never happened. Nobody at the club is under the impression that he and Cech are competing for the starting job.

Ospina is our back-up / cup keeper and he seems to be content in being so. What that says about him is another story altogether . . .

EDIT: Then again, I just read a bunch of "information" on Twitter saying he may move this summer after all. Who knows, certainly not me.

I've been seeing that from various sources for 2 months. Heavily linked with Turkey and possibly a few smaller Spanish clubs. Everything I have seen cited his desire for more PT.

Excuse my skepticism, but I don't think a 24-year-old (almost 25) goalkeeper with 50 professional appearances is going to be Arsenal's keeper of the future. Martinez's future with Arsenal, if he has one, is going to be like Steve Harper at Newcastle, and probably not much more.

The boys at Arsecast think Ospina should be sold... for 8MM pounds.

If Ospina does go, and if Sczsney (damn I forgot how to spell his damn name!) doesn't come back, then I'm not sure how comfy I feel with Martinez being our official #2, and potentially our main guy if the old master Cech goes down lame.

In this case if we have to sign a new 3rd keeper, then I'd probably want them to be closer to Martinez in age & experience, rather than some 20YO whiz kid.

i would argue that getting 14 for a keeper with 1 year left on his contract is quite positive.

i would also prefer to proceed with ospina but, in the end, i think it will be cech/martinez next year.
