I have another guy with multiple nationalities (depending on where you look. Ian Garret plays for VIFK in Finland - The club has him as US, Transfermarkt has him as GB (so they obviously don't know) any one have any info on him????

BTW I am still looking for info on Neil Slooves (previous post) He scored for Tindastoll this weekend - but the info is still sparse, and Nationality still in question

Okay, I think we found Ian.

There's an approximately 20-year old player from Kalamazoo, Michigan, named "Ian Garrett."

Here's his bio from his time indoors with the St. Louis Ambush last year:

    http://ambush.myhaineswebsite.com/ambush-sign-veteran-goalkeeper-moreira-rookie-garrett/

Nineteen-year-old Ian Garrett was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He started playing soccer at age four in Portage, Michigan. He played high school soccer for the IMG Academy in Florida. During 2014 and 2015, he played for the MLS Chicago Fire U18 Academy team that won the US Development Academy National Championship. Garrett has chosen to forgo college and pursue a professional soccer career. Garrett came to Ambush open tryouts this summer, then turned in a stellar performance in Saturday night’s pre-season battle against the Cedar Rapids Rampage, notching four goals and two assists in the 12-7 Ambush win.

His dad, Mike, appears to be a big-shot soccer guy in Kalamazoo who runs Kalamazoo FC in NPSL:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Garrett_(soccer)

I found Facebook pages for Ian and Mike, and Mike posted this:

The caption doesn't pull through, but here's what Dad wrote:

    Mike Garrett in Vaasa, Finland.

Here is Ian Garrett after his first match today in Finland. One player interviews another. I like that idea for #kzfc ! 1-1 even though they apparently dominated. @iangarrettt #vifk #prosoccer #futbol

There's no obvious reason to think Slooves is American from what I can tell -- seems to be a guy who came to the States for an education and some soccer. Of course, that doesn't mean he can't also be a Yank via birth or other means.

Ian is possibly the son of Mike Garrett, a DC native and former indoor player, which would make him a Yank.

EDIT: Proud to be beaten to the punch by @BostonRed.

Juan Carlos Osorio, head coach of Mexico NT, spent a ton of time in the US. He went to college here and eventually started coaching here. He probably was in the US from 1985 to 2001.

He just did a podcast with Men in Blazers. I didn't listen to all of it, but he details his life in the US.

    https://soundcloud.com/meninblazers/men-in-blazers-060117-juan-carlos-osorio-pod-special

That man, a Colombian immigrant named Juan Carlos Osorio, traveled to the United States in the 1980s, after injuries ended his playing career in South America, to attend college in Iowa. After one semester, he moved to New York, where he worked in construction and food-service jobs to support himself before attending Southern Connecticut State University. After graduating in 1990 with a degree in exercise science, Osorio worked as a personal trainer in Queens while playing for local club teams.

By 1998, Osorio reached a crossroads. At 37, time was ticking on his dream. So Osorio took a risk by joining a local club, the Staten Island Vipers, as a conditioning coach.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2016/06/13/...ach-juan-carlos-osorio-copa-america.html?_r=0

His sons were born in the US as well.

My best guess would be Uly Llanez for the upcoming U17 camp and hopefully U17 WC. Of the USYNTers playing for Mexico, he seems the most interested in switching back. My next best guess would be Kai Koreniuk, who has openly (on Twitter) shown interest in switching back to the US from the Netherlands, and accepted a callup to the April U20 camp (but Vitesse rejected it).

See I was thinking a Mexican-American also, Efrain Alvarez was the first one who came to my mind. But Uly is a better shout for WC.

Short of a MNT callup, there's no real way for Koreniuk to "rejoin" before the U23 cycle starts at this point. To throw another name into the mix, maybe '99 Lara to start the next U20 cycle.

The Wikipedia page for Atletico Madrid youth shows another American in the academy (beyond US U17er Nico Garcia-Morillo), a Michael Carmona: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlético_Madrid_(youth)#Atl.C3.A9tico_Madrile.C3.B1o_Cadete

One site shows a "Michael William Carmona Herbst" with Atletico Madrileño A. At least a more American-sounding name than anyone else in that squad (might hint at an American parent?): http://ffmadrid.es/pnfg/NPcd/NFG_VisEquipos?cod_primaria=1000119&Codigo_Equipo=2324

But I can't find him officially listed on any of Atletico's youth teams: https://en.atleticodemadrid.com/cantera/

There is another player who I believe is American 'Michael Stewart' playing for the same team. I think its the same Mike Stewart from Eastern New Mexico U. but info is a little hard to come by....anyone out there have any info on this guy???

Probably a safe-ish bet based on the photos.

I've been through Portales, where ENMU is. It's quite a few miles from anywhere, and pretty darn far from Katy, Texas, too. The guy's clearly willing to travel to play the game.

Vito Hammershøy-Mistrati and FC Helsingør (Elsinore, known from William Shakespeares Hamlet) have just won promotion to the Danish Superliga when they managed a 2-2 AET away result in the play-off against the (now relegated) Superliga team Viborg FF .... the first leg in Elsinore finished 1-1

Perhaps I should add that Vito Hammershøy-Mistrati is an absolute key player and regular starter for Elsinore ... but his contract expire at the end of this month, making him a free agent.

FC Helsingør is (or perhaps I should say was) only a part-time professional team with a tiny small budget, that has never played in the Superliga before and this season was just hoping to escape relegation from the Danish 1. Division, the NordicBet liga, and had no ambitions of making it to the Superliga play-off's the next 3-4 years... but they obviously have managed to build a highly talented team that has surprised everyone and the promotion seemed quite deserved, playing much better fiootball than full-time professional Viborg in the play-off's...

They also have a highly talented coach, Christian Lønstrup, who is former FC København player of the year and won several Danish Championships with FCK and also played in the Italian Serie A before he became a coach.

The new Superliga structure makes it easier to escape relegation and they will now be able to become full-time professionals, though I doubt that they are going to be able to buy experienced reinforcements. So I guess they will stick with the players they already got and so they will be able to offer Vito a much better full-time contract....

Perhaps i should also add that newly promoted Lyngby finished 3rd in the Superliga this season and is going to play Europa League, and they also had very little money but a highly talented team. So it is still possible to become a success in the Superliga with little money, if you have managed to build up a young highly talented team in 1. Division...which really is what the 1. Division is all about ...

Perhaps it's time for Vito Hammershøy-Mistrati to get his own thread ?

Todays rumour is that Brøndby, AGF Aarhus and newly promoted Hobro are showing interest for Vito who has been a key regular starter for FC Helsingør all season ...

    http://www.bold.dk/fodbold/nyheder/avis-flere-sl-klubber-interesserede-i-mistrati/

Though I doubt he want to go to Brøndby, considering that he picked a part-time professional team to be sure to be a regular starter, so AGF would be the most likely, considering that they are going to cut ½ a team, while newly promoted Hobro also are able to promise him a full-time professional contract, unlike Elsinore, that now need a new stadium and seem to refuse to offer their players full-time contracts, at least the first half of the season, probably because the promotion came too early as a huge unexpected surprise. So they do not feel quite ready for the Superliga..

Still need confirmation (unless you have it already, or I missed it) that he was born in the States or has another claim to citizenship. So far, all I've seen is what it says in my first post. But if you have more info, please share it!

So as this is my favorite thread I have some more possible YA, and I need help to identify if they are in fact YA. there are a few (I publish a weekly wrap of US Players overseas, identifying players in the lower leagues can sometimes be a chore so your help on YA is really appreciated)

Felix De Bona ( at Ekenas in Finland) I had Felix as a YA, but Transfermarkt just changed him from a dual US/Brazil to just Brazil. BU have his home town as Somerset Mass. although born in Brazil http://www.goterriers.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6698

I have 2 players with Bodens in Sweden
Michael Steven Mercado - http://npsl.bonzidev.com/sam/tea /index.php?team=1573617&player=40937787 SoCal SC in NPSL has his hometown as Highland CA

    Leon Taylor aka Leonardo Taylor
    https://www.svenskalag.se/bbkff_a/truppen
MSU has his hometown as Dallas http://www.msumustangs.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=2521
Leon Taylor seems a fairly common name, so there is no saying if this is the right person

I am hopeful someone can help here.....

BDFA now lists a birthplace, Mission Viejo (Calif.).

    http://www.bdfa.com.ar/jugadores-FRANCO-OVIEDO-101998.html

Here's an old report that says the same.

    http://www.centralcrece.com/2012/07...e-la-1deg-parte-del-torneo-de-inferiores-2012

Not immediately sure where he is now, but if we can sort it out, probably safe to call him a YA.
