Well, Perugia (Hidetoshi Nakata) and Cesena (Yuto Nagatomo) don't think the same :p

Do you ever watch the games or you just write random stuff to fill your quota of posts ?

Two examples in 20 years aren't satisfying. Plus, you saw how Nagatomo is treated here.

France about to choke against this weak Italian team makes me think we could have won the tournament with a valid striker. Not out of the realm of possibilities.

That's not true, Serie A has been historically a league that has bought several japanese players. Tell me what other top leagues are buying japanese CBs from Jleague please...

    lol France

It is just a Youth tournament . Japan reached a final in 1999, only beaten badly by Spain with Xivi, and also reached quarter finals several times in the past. With France are out, I don't see a team that are as strong as 1999 Spain.
And BigSoccer is not a Football science forum. It is not unusual that football fans imagine a "would" or "could" world. It would be delusional if I said "Japan should have won", or "Japan could have probably(easily) won" , but saying "could have won if ..." with the words "Not out of the realm of possibilities" in Japanese football fan forum is not delusional to be blamed. Though I don't think this Italy(not their best) is weak .

Too bad we lost Ogawa in Uruguay game. I am not sure he would be decent enough, but we might have repeated our 1999 surprise in front of Korean people.

    Premier League & Eredivisie?
In the last 10 years, we had Honda (big free agent and marketing operation... according to Milan), Nagatomo (the real last signing), Oguro (a loan ended badly in Torino) and Ogasawara (mistreated in Messina).

Since you are unhappy with the results you still can imagine fairytale in your mind. That way you can escape of the disappointing reality. But the thing is Japan lost 2 of their 4 matches, tied a Italian team which stopped the game after scoring twice and barely won against the south African and lost by a 2 goals margin against Uruguay. So I am not that wrong if I think some people here are delusional.

Again, I have nothing toward the Japanese team which was still more convincing than the Korean one.

Yeah but Japan was more close to reach the quarters final than Korea. And was more able to keep possession. Overall it was a decent run made by the Asian teams during that tournament.

Watch and read here before and after the games some certain people keep criticizing the coach as it's all his fault: called the wrong players, choose the wrong line up and choose the wrong subs.
Uchiyama or Teguramori it's always the same music: they are the scapegoat like they would be the worst ever coach in japanese history. Boring.

However I totally missed the France vs Italy match and from the Highlights it seems similar to the Japan match except that France, largely leading ball possession in 2nd half, didn't score while Japan had the double by Doan.

    SK out too.
End of the competition for me...

Premier League? What CB are you referring to that was bought in Premier League from Jleague?
Serie A also had Morimoto in the league... the last two players simply proved to not be good enough. But the point isn't what happened to them, we were talking about getting players or not and Serie A does get japanese players from JLeague once in a while.

Unrelated: thonestly hat team from 1999 had a few star players, this one has only Doan and a young Kubo who might go far...

We watch and read just like you and I've seen plenty of people complaining about in-game actions of the players. Of course if bad callups happen the coach has a responsibility. But you're making things bigger than they are here, this isn't the NT thread lol

    Things bigger than they're?
I think you don't get the capital chance Japan has in 2020 of a double gold in football at Tokyo Olympics. South American teams will be weaker (just look at Argentina's last performances, even in U-20 WC), European teams aren't so interested in Olympics (damn, they're not even interested in U-21 UEFA Euro: Donnarumma, Milik, Rushford won't be there)... so yes, I'm a little worked up about it because I see a great chance to celebrate.

I wasn't referring to you as you can see from the quote and I have no idea what you just said had to do with my post to be honest... o_O
I was saying he was making a fuss over nothing, there hasn't been that much complaining.

But Japan were also closer to falling out in the group stage. In terms of ranking within the tournament, Korea finished 10th while Japan finished 14th, I think. Korea's game vs Portugal was not bad actually. They were just unlucky while vs Argentine they were very lucky.
I only watched highlights and I had an impression Japan were a little better team while Korea had a slight edge in raw talent(this means I don't rate the rest of squad except LSW and PSH very highly).

Venezuela finalist after pks vs Uruguay.
England trashed Italy and go to the final too.

At the end of the day this spineless Japan lost by 1 goal against a possible WC winner.
