    Looking at the Alerts element, there is no popup code for it as there is for conversations and user profile.
    Code:
    Popup.PopupControl.PopupContainerControl.PopupOpen
    Fix it.

    On my tablet I use the Dolphin browser (only Android browser with top class Flash support, IME).

    Since the update, the signatures overlap the last line of the message. And the reps overlap with each other.

    For Conversations you have this code:

    Code:
    <ul class="sidePanel__blockLinksList">
    <li class="navTab"><a href="conversations/add" class="floatLink navLink">Start a New Conversation</a></li>
    <li class="navTab"><a class="navLink" href="conversations/">Show All...</a></li>
    That's the call that makes the popup appear: navTab, plus the "floatLink navLink" class call.

    The equivalent for Alerts lacks those calls:

    Code:
    <ul class="sidePanel__blockLinksList">
    <li><a href="account/alert-preferences">Alert Preferences</a></li>
    <li><a href="account/alerts">Show All...</a></li>

    Forum pages with YouTube videos or Tweets or whatever embedded in them take *much* longer to load than they did in the old site; and as they load, filling in the tweets and videos and so on, the positioning of all the other objects in the page keeps shifting downward. The results are:

    1. When you go to a thread, following a link you expect to take you to the first unread article, by the time everything is done loading you're not at the first unread article anymore;

    2. When you follow a link to a specific post in a thread, by the time everything is done loading you're not at that post anymore;

    3. If you're tired of waiting for a page to finish loading and try to click a visible link, sometimes the page shifts underneath you and you end up having clicked a very different link than the one you'd intended.

    Why are changes always called "upgrades"? It's only an upgrade if it improves one's experience using the site, no?

    It seemed to work far better just after the upgrade was done. It's been going downhill since attempting to change stuff in response to the very few posters who are constantly bellyaching over every little thing.

    Interesting, since I haven't really seen anything change at all other than the ability to make the sidebar go away, and the regression on the alerts.

    FWIW, I made that last post here after reading a discussion in a different forum about those points by other people who didn't see any point in posting them here because it doesn't seem like anyone's paying attention. However many people you see posting here, multiply it by a few at least to get the number of people annoyed.

    Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts! Your tone towards people you disagree with is always a pleasure.

    Make your voice heard, and it gets heard. Say nothing, and nothing changes.

    And I would guess that there have been quite a few posters read though these two threads and not post anything because the issue has already been mentioned.

    Been waiting for a post like this. I know there are several IT (of various areas) people on BS, so I was certain that somebody would end up reading the code and posting the (suggested) fix.

    Yeah, I have users that do this to me from time to time even though the instructions tell them please don't do that - even if it's a perfectly good fix I always do it a different way. My boss marks their request as the lowest possible priority when they do it :)
    I'm sure 50% of them think they're being helpful.

    So the biggest priority right now is the alerts yes? Any others?

    yes, then the list/link to the latest thread/post from the My/Watched Forums page. And making the unread ones (with new posts) stand out (blue/bold)

    Then could you let my .gif avatar actually be .gif-ey? (it is on the page that lets me pick the avatar, but hasn't been moving on threads since 3 upgrades ago - this may be a fairly low priority for anyone else, but they're less important than I am :))

    Yes I think the Alerts-hover-broken is annoying everyone!

    Beyond that you're going to probably get a hundred different answers to how to prioritize the needs. I've seen a lot of chatter about breadcrumbs at the bottom, and the green arrows.

    It's certainly a little hard for the admins to get a true sense of priority. Reading through this entire thread is challenging and time consuming. Maybe do a poll thread?? List 10 "hot" features, and ask people to rank them? Not sure if poll threads can do that? Survey Monkey can. ;)

    Edit: Before I made this post, I hovered over Alerts and it was dead. But after I made this post I did the same and it worked!! Dunno if this means it's buggy or if someone just actually fixed it?? Odd though.

    I can consistently reproduce this by:
    - mouse over without clicking green arrows - green arrows disappear
    - move elevator using scroll wheel or clicking on elevator and moving it - green arrows reappear.

    Basically a mouse over event on the green arrows is causing this.

    If I am typing a response in the text window the same behaviour is seen.

    Suspect it's also a change focus to the reply window event causing the same.

    That could be because of the torrent of people who complained about animated avatars, saying "please god make it stop." :)

    A few moments ago I had the Alerts hover-menu start working again for me also. It looks like it has been fixed? Or did it start working again as accidentally as it had stopped? :laugh:

    Anyway, crossing fingers for this annoying problem having found its solution. :)

    Is that a paid user upgrade?

    The sidebar still exists for me, it's just sticky/non-sticky the choices.

    Thx,

    Jay!

    No idea. If you scroll all the way up to the top of this page, just to the left of the "POST NEW THREAD" button, do you see a tiny, right-pointing arrow/caret? I do, and that toggles the sidebar.

    I'm guessing it may not just be a coincidence that you posted this yesterday, and then today the issue was fixed.

    And speaking for someone who works in IT, if a user makes a detailed suggestion like this, and it has merit, as annoying as it might be that I didn't figure it out myself, I'm still going to listen to it, and not de-prioritize it. ;)

    p.s. To the admins (@Andy R, @Janet H, and whoever) thanks for fixing this! Onward...

    IMHO, the green arrows would be quite useful if you could rely on them to appear. If you could make them appear when hovering over the bottom right corner, that'd be my vote. I agree with whomever said that the fact that they only seem to appear when you start to scroll is dumb, because it's the act of painful scrolling that they're trying to replace.

    Secondly, I'd like to echo the need for highlighting threads which have new posts, by bolding, blue dot, or similarly eye-catching technique.

    Yay! It's working!

    Actually, I'm not into IT. So don't feel annoyed.

    Now if someone could take a look into the issues with tablets/phones? It just doesn't fit nicely, the usability factor is poor with small screens.

    Some places have a dedicated "Mobile" page that is entirely different from the desktop one, with smaller banners, fewer graphics, and fields without fixed sizes.

    Would it be too much to ask...? :)

    Don't hold your breath about BigSoccer being optimized for mobiles. A lot of us seem to use Tapatalk on our phones because of this. That said, the ads have gotten really annoying and oppressive in Tapatalk (following The Weather Channel's lead I guess) so if BigSoccer did come up with a good mobile site, or an app that'd be cool.

    Actually, the BS mobile app is pretty good, but it still has many kinks. I'd use that primarily instead of my mobile browser, but it's so damn wonky.
