It is time for Stielike to get the boot. We need a domestic manager who knows the Korean pool well at this stage.
not sure how a prediction & perhaps a hopeful outcome = "trolling". or are you simply inclined to call him out since he supports or supported Uli Stielike in general?
Sad on many accounts. Loss is ok if there was risk, building tactics, progress was attempted. It was not. The safest, riskless everything and a pathetic loss with no vision or semblance of tactics in the game. Players suck bad as well. We had Koo, Ji, Ki, and still failed to run over China. These f'ers are underperforming in club and nt. I'm not even going to look at schedule and play the numbers to see where we are with qeualification. I hope we lose and get third place, fire stilicks and be forced to playoff for the odd spot.
To the guys who want to put all of the blame on Stielike, how do you explain this down period has been going on since 2013? Korea just barely qualified for Brazil, and once they played there they sucked. The trend has been going of for years, but people seem to act like there's only been a problem since Stielike took charge.
it's sad how there's not even a meltdown. We're not even shocked at this outcome. Maybe it's more of a depressing, angry, wimper.
i suspect most of us are not. But it's a matter of spectrum. Results are one-dimensional, only reflective of the outcome. But look at what we know of his management decisions. we dont think we should be this bad
Coaches have always a big part of responsability both in failure and success. Personally I don't put all of the blame on him but I don't deny his impact on the team. As a person, I appreciate him, he is passionnate about his job and he is attached to KNT. However, as a coach, it is worse and worse. In fact, yesterday, most of our players were pretty good (Nam Tae Hee, Koo Ja Cheol, Ki Sung Yong, Hong Jeong Ho ect) but Stielike's strategy showed its limits : The midfield is just okay but the attacking is the absolute nil. With this strategy, Korea has great difficulties to get closer to the opponent's goal and therefore to create big chances. Most of our chances came from set piece or longshots. As soon as the opponent put pressure on them, it becomes impossible to create some danger. We barely scored against team like Lebanon, Syria, Koweit, North Korea, Oman. I've observed this weak point since the beginning and it is getting worse when we face team slightly organized and agressive. We lost although our players were pretty good and that's "tragic"
You're South Korea. Even if you play bad the universe will shine upon you, all other teams will somehow lose and you'll make it in as the first team.
Ki SY was good in 2nd half. Nam TH was 50/50 imo. One moment, he would lose possession easily while making decent play at times. Kwon ST.. while his view might have been blocked, he should have done better on the goal Korea conceded. edit - criticize Uli but the players were piss poor too. they need to take blame for the loss too.. as a team
Koo Ja Cheol played very well in the first half too and just this once I've nothing to reproach to Hong Jeong Ho. I admit Kim Jin Su was lost, Lee Yong's ball control was awful and Koh Myung Jin was below the team's level. But overall, they were okay.
The problem has persisted long before Stielike even took charge, in fact we were in a 3 year turmoil just before Hongzhou was force hired to the KNT post in 2013 (Due thanks to the KFA's incompetency and idiocy in sacking Cho Kwang-rae without batting an eye after the loss to Lebanon in 2011). However, the problem most if not all of us are having with Stielike and the KFA is rather simple. When Hongzhou failed in Brazil, the KFA's priority was to revamp the KNT by hiring a suitable manager, to which it was Lee Yong-soo's job to bring in an experienced foreign manager who could help build the team in preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Well, that all failed when Lee Yong-soo out of the blue hired Stielike based on sheer ludicrous personal reasons; granted that there were a number of candidates in line, Lee Yong-soo eventually called it quits and never bothered to contact those candidates again. We initially had an experienced Van Marwijk within our reach, but the final process broke down the moment Lee Yong-soo failed to reach an agreement with the Dutch boss. Lee Yong-soo pinned the blame on two things: 1. Money, and 2. Residency, but in reality they were never a problem to begin with, the problem was the incompetency of Lee Yong-soo who never had a broad mindset nor did he have a thought-out plan and criteria from the very beginning of the managerial search, and every bit of his decisions were made out of desperation. So, it's 3 years now and Stielike still hasn't learned from his mistakes nor has he done anything in order to build a team for the World Cup ahead. There's still no progression, player selections haven't changed one bit, formations and tactics are the same, performances are seemingly getting worse, and the idiot KFA continuously throws Stielike a lifeline even in the light of a red flag, 3 years down the drain. Now, taking all of this into consideration, it's beyond me as to how anyone would still remain calm with the incompetency of the fraud, but the patience in many of us have run out - we've bit down our tongues long enough. Any decent manager would've at least built a core foundation by now, but given the fact that Stielike continues to fail at his job, there is no alternative solution but to cut him off from his position, and in the end good coaching/management does matter.
Van Marwijk must be laughing at them now, look at how much Saudi Arabia have improved under him. Honestly, I think Korea are lucky because they are in the weaker group and because Uzbekistan usually perform poorly under pressure.
well it isn't hard to imagine someone at the level of Marcello Lippi pulling off an overhaul for the good. Chinese FA seems to be more ambitious than the stooges that currently run things in KFA. Had Stielike's KNT shown good performances prior to the loss against China, I would've accepted the conclusion that the loss can be explained more with China's improvement. But honestly, look at our performances in round 3 WCQ. On games we did manage to win, we scraped by with one goal differential. And don't even remind me of Azadi game. One of the worst KNT performances I've ever watched. Performance-wise it was worse than Algeria match at 2014 WC.
Regression to the mean. We played like sh!t in the Asian Cup as well, it's just it was a small sample size, and we happened to win some games (against some very poor opposition as well). Even bad teams will win some games. But now that we've had Stielike for three years, the results are matching up with the poor quality of his coaching.
How about this...as chook mentioned, we've only scraped one-goal wins against other teams when we do win. If you take away China's results against us, they have two points, zero goals scored. China literally do better against us than any other team in our group (and it's easily the worse of the two groups). Name one person here who thinks there's only been a problem since Stielike arrived.
If you can't see that Stielike is a horrible manager, you don't know football. It's as simple as that. Is he still getting too much blame? Perhaps, though I personally don't think so. But even if that were true, it doesn't change the fact that he as a manager is at least a couple levels below the footballing level of the KNT. He's a waste of time and money and needs to go. We can mull over what's wrong with Korean football after we put out this dumpster fire that is Steilike's tenure. That's really all there is to it.
F'n roaches think they are king of the world now. Desirably so. They took advantage of a team, more than 50% is playing in garbage leagues and a coach who is beyond delusional. These were the signs of a REGRESSIVE team. I have been saying this for months now. KFA, do your fking job and sack the fraud. Ban players in garbage leagues into KNT and advocate moves to Europe.
Lol cut the crap. Shitlike said it himself, he supports moves to China, Japan, Qatar. We will never improve with this kind of pathetic mentally.
You should sack Mr. Uli and appoint CKH for rest of qualifiers. Then sit and think about a world class manager.
