So, despite never actually writing a news article about last year's Final Four results, WPSL has apparently gone on a ReTweeststorm over the past few days ahead of, during, and since its general body meeting. Here's the best pic I could find of their team list Not only are the Red Stars, the Spirit, and the Breakers all still in the league, but I see "Seattle Reign", "WNY Reserves", and even "LA Galaxy" on this list. Also "FC Indiana", who have moved over to UWS already.
LA Galaxy does have a youth club in North County San Diego (I think Carlsbad). This could be a team at the top of their women's pyramid. New news to me, though.
Well they have 5 youth clubs: South Bay, Bakersfield, Conejo Valley, San Diego, and Orange County. So I'm still not sure why they would have a San Diego based WPSL team...
I don't understand the problem. Lots of these teams are part of youth clubs. I'm glad to have an alternative to Sea Lions.
Well unless the Galaxy are planning a WPSL team for every youth club, it would make more sense to have 1 central club that the cream of the crop from all their youth clubs play in.
Looks like the Reign reserves are already ruled out, probably 2018... https://goalwashington.wordpress.co...ls-reign-reserves-but-perhaps-not-until-2018/ The impression I've got is that FC Indiana is using the WPSL for their UWS reserve team. Correct me if I'm wrong but... it looks like no Georgia-based teams, meaning no Silverbacks.
RIP in RIP, Silverbacks organization. One of the stalwarts of American soccer for both genders, now totally gone out with a whimper. =EDIT= And now that I'm looking closer, thanks to the article you cited - TSS Rovers are joining WPSL and PDL, but last year the two Quebec W-League teams weren't allowed to join UWS?? Either the CSA is being hypocritical, or they've simply reversed course and that rumor of Laval, Quebec, and NY Surf joining UWS is true.
The initial version of the WPSL 2017 standings and list of teams didn't include the Washington Spirit Reserves, but they're there now. "Washington Spirit Academy" is gone, though, back to being "Braddock Road Stars Elite." And the ASA Chesapeake Charge are gone.

The new team in Charleston, SC, the Charleston Fleet, played their inaugural match last Saturday vs the Carolina Rapids prior to the Charleston Battery match. Here are the photos from Mrs. Bribe Taker of their 1-0 win: Charleston Fleet vs Carolina Rapids
And the next day, last Sunday, the Fleet played their 2nd ever match against Lake Norman, and again collected a 1-0 victory. A 2-0 start for a brand new club, not too shabby. Charleston Fleet vs Lake Norman
LA Galaxy San Diego win their home opener in Carlsbad, Ca. 2-1 vs. Phoenix Del Sol. At it again tomorrow night vs. FC Tucson in Carlsbad.
Wow, that's big news! Long list of reasons for him to step down, though, so I guess it was bound to come pretty soon. I think that however well/poorly you thought he ran the league, you can't argue that he's not an impactful figure in the women's game in this country. Will be very interesting to see where WPSL goes now. (I'm not sure it was a great idea to call out just two teams by name concerning dues...)
http://www.frontrowsoccer.com/2018/...dy-lancers-play-capelli-sport-stadium-season/ A NEW HOME: Lancers, Lady Lancers to play at Capelli Sport Stadium this season Feb 3, 2018
A beautiful stadium for sure, but I think this post can also be posted in the UWS 2018 thread as that is where the Lady Lancers have league play.
