I asked the same question over at Big D. Someone responded to the effect that FCD up'ed the personal salary and transfer offer in order to win the bid. But who knows, I share your same concerns.
The signing is now official and I suspect he will be pretty happy here as there are lots of S. Americans on the team and several of the coaches are from there. The whole team seems friendly and accommodating to new players as Lamah has proclaimed.
Reports out of Sao Paulo, is that the team pulled out of negotiations back in October. It's very likely that the agent and Nacional were both holding out for a better deal.
FCD gets good news from far away. Arabe Unido looked very dynamic in its run through the CCL group stage, and the double defeat of Monterey. Not surprisingly, Arabe Unido has just lost 2 of the players responsible for their romp through the group stage. http://mobile.concacaf.com/article/arabe-unido-challenged-by-barcenas-cox-departures
As Chico posted in another thread, a highly thought of FCD academy youngster (Devin Vega) has signed on with San Antonio. https://mobile.twitter.com/SanAntonioFC I'm gorn with this one.
I asked Arena if anyone exceeded expectations or surprised him in #USMNT camp & he had praise for Walker Zimmerman, then praised Matt Hedges— Ives Galarcep (@SoccerByIves) January 26, 2017
Confused? Yes. Discouraged? Absolutely not. As much as I backed Hyndman all those years, I am ever the optimist about FCD and Papi is the most optimistic on-field AND business decision the club has ever made, in my opinion. I guess I'm just being nosy about the facts. That said, the one thing that gives me faith in Colman coming here is that there are really not many cultural issues for him to acclimate to. FCD is South American to its core and after hearing Lamah's enthusiasm, seems very easy to fit in compared to years past. On a side note, I wish Timo and Bonner all the best and hope they have bright futures ahead of them.
No worries, buddy. I can't even escape that up here in Michigan... LOL I can't wait for FCD to get themselves up to Chicago, though. I need a match or two to get past all these alternative facts I'm hearing about. Our president isn't the only one being accused of it, either. (staying away from that political minefield...) I just found out Carlo Ancelotti is good at it, too...
Chicago is one of the few major cities in this country I haven't been to. I was very much looking forward to going for our game this season and then (of course!) find out it's on a mother F'n Wednesday -_- .
We both should. I've been trying to coax my fiancée into freeing that day up for us. Never seen Soldier Field up close and personal...
Went to see the USMNT against England at Soldier Field many years ago now. It was a fun experience, even though the USMNT played poorly that day. The England fans kept chanting "Are you Scotland in disguise?" Defining moment of the game was Dempsey's first career international goal. So I lathered myself up in some Texas Pride that day.......................
Funny how in my memory of that game was a 2-0 England win. Had no recollection of Dempsey scoring (even looked it up to make sure I was crazy).
I heard that this is a term that lawyers use when each side presents their "facts". Can any legal minds verify this?
I don't know about what Sao Paulo tried to do but Pegasus, that is a damn funny and exquisite point at the same time... Lol I'm still going to the All-Star G anyway. Need to check this off of my bucket list, anyway.
Damn, my mobile app won't let me edit so I apologise for the potential randomness of my last post. I admit, I had a little too much to drink within the last hour. Celebrating getting my new job in Battle Creek today. Lol
Yes, but the word "facts" as a legal term doesn't mean "this is what actually happened" so much as (since there's no way anybody can be 100% sure what happened in any given past event) "this is what the court has determined happened, beyond a reasonable doubt (or to a preponderance of the evidence)" or "this is what my client believes happened, and thus it is what we would like the court to determine as a matter of law actually happened." The court (whether it's a judge or a jury) makes a determination of what actually happened, and we lawyers call the court making such a determination the "finder of facts." Often, the parties agree on the vast majority of the facts, which is when we use the term "undisputed facts." The parts where we disagree are "disputed facts" or "alternative facts" or "facts at issue."
Thanks for the clarification. They should have used disputed facts instead of Alternative facts which sounds like facts from an alternate universe instead of facts which are in disagreement. I bet sport's GM's and coaches would like to use such terms when their teams lose.
Coy called into 2nd U-20 camp of the year. Does this portend his selection to the qualifying tournament roster? http://www.fcdallas.com/post/2017/01/31/international-coy-craft-called-second-us-u-20-camp-2017
