A.J. DeLaGarza said he was 'shocked' by trade to Dynamo because he had been told by Galaxy within two weeks that he would not be traded.— Corey Roepken (@RipSports) January 25, 2017
Any updates on the whereabouts of Robbie Keane? Curious to know if he's staying in MLS or going back overseas.
rumors.. Robbie Keane to Sunderland Not satisfied with the move for Lescott, the Daily Express reported that Robbie Keane is also on Moyes' shopping list as he looks to turn back the clock in order to keep the Black Cats out of the relegation zone. After a successful spell in MLS with LA Galaxy, Keane is a free agent and he could form the oldest, but deadliest strike duo in England with Jermain Defoe.
My biggest gripe with the Jones move is it will mostly likely force Lleget back out wide. He was great in the last quarter of the season as a number 8. His play there is what got him called into the January camp. Someone either linked a interview or they were quoting an interview with Klejstan, who claims that Lleget has impressed a lot of guys and that he's taken Lleget under his wing to help improve on a few things.
Yea I read a rumor about this last week. Really crappy on our part. If our front office was going to go back on their word, maybe give AJ a call to let him know it's a possibility.
That's disappointing. It must mean that the team recently discovered that they would need more TAM or salary space than they thought. It's my one concern with Joao. I don't know much about him but he seems highly regarded and fits the role, but he's also really expensive for a defensive midfielder. If losing AJ was part of the cost of getting Joao, it definitely makes the deal look worse.
Perception-wise this seems to be the polar opposite of how Bruce handled player trades, often times to the short-term detriment of the club, but from the outside looking in it appeared he would to allow moves that were good for the player. I always thought it was, long-term, a good strategy.
Jones is not a 90 minute player? Obvs. I don't think Jones is a leader on the field, either. He roams, sends hopeful balls, and doesn't play team defense. Can Curt corral him? I'm doubtful. But, I guess I have to root for Mr. "Champions League Player," now. Galaxy!
I think some people mistake opinionated & outspoken as leadership qualities. Jones does not strike me as a leader either.
Pablo's opinion: Jones is an experienced veteran who is a leader on the field and in the locker room. Coach Pablo Mastroeni said Jones can direct players on the fly during a game to make adjustments that otherwise might have to wait for halftime. “Getting Jermaine back at this time is not only good because he’s a great player and he’s a great leader, but how his energy and competitiveness is exuded throughout the group and the psychological effect it has on our opponents. Now he becomes a topic of conversation for our opponents that we haven’t had in a while.” http://www.denverpost.com/2016/10/19/jermaine-jones-colorado-rapids-return-playoffs/ Bruce Arena's opinion: Arena later told reporters that he saw Jones and captain Michael Bradley as the clearest leaders of the current group of players. http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/201...e-jones-still-strives-for-mnt-leadership-role
IMO JJ is a natural leader with the USMNT and in MLS in that the other players look to him. his direction & his discipline within his own position can be questioned, but i see that as a separate thing. i'm not convinced that any positional issues weren't the fault of he-who-shall-not-be-named & his ambiguous instructions i see JJ & Jelle being on the same page and providing plenty of direction to the club - more blue-collar, nose-to-the grindstone than we might have been with Keane & Bruce. the midfield actually looks good to me... better than we've been since 2014 Joao furthest back to clean up the mistakes Lleget as an outlet and conduit to the forward line Jones as the all-purpose Ema speed threat the skillsets can all complement each other
Jon Kempin, former SKC GK, is in camp, mostly to cover for Rowe's absence, but Onalfo left open the possibility of something more: http://www.lagalaxy.com/post/2017/0...preseason-training-camp-national-team-players
This is a relief: http://www.si.com/planet-futbol/2017/01/25/landon-donovan-real-salt-lake-deal-dead-rsl Interesting: Donovan decided not to continue with the Galaxy after the club did not make him a Designated Player offer.
It's funny that we have 3 in camp and Rowe with the NT, and Minnesota has zero GK on their roster (http://www.mlssoccer.com/rosters/2017) as of yesterday. That would be a great place for Kennedy...
Landon Donovan is the greatest US player and MLS player of all time. But I wouldn't have offered him a DP spot either...
I would have - lower level money. He would sell that many t-shirts, and it wouldn't have to be long term. But water under the bridge "we are going in a different direction". Hope that bridge holds.
The news I’m most happy about this off season is a former player not signing with a rival club. Also they communications department appear to be laying the ground work for us to sign GII players to make up the numbers in roster depth. I’m not sure if that’s related to the rumored cost-cutting efforts or it’s more of an indictment on the Curt/Pete/Chris.

I'm amazed how many people are hating on Jones on our Facebook page. It's pretty disappointing. He is our player now, so please at least give him a chance. I like how we have a hard worker in every third of the field (Van Damme, Jones, Zardes) and we are surrounding them with talent. I think we are pretty well rounded now.
