Give the French two more months and she may be the most recognized person on the planet. Good for her.....as long as she comes back!!
Good grief! I know you have little or no filter, WWC_Movement; but this post is crass, misogynistic, and insulting and you should ask to have it deleted. Crass synonyms: stupid, insensitive, mindless, thoughtless, ignorant, witless, oafish, boorish, asinine, coarse, gross, graceless, tasteless, tactless. (I have concluded you are already familiar with the term Misogynist).
Morgan interview that includes a bit more insight on the CBA goals of the WNT. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...all-fifa-lyon-women-equality?CMP=share_btn_tw
Interesting. It seems that, in the time it took Lyon to sign Morgan, women have suddenly seen a drop from the oft-cited 77 cents to 73! It's almost as if facts and such things don't matter!
I've been reading your posts for a few years now, and I understand your tendency to exaggerate and you often "vocally" and visually share your enjoyment of the aesthetics of women athletes. However, your post about Alex Morgan crossed a line of decency and respect because it directly questioned the moral character of a specific player in a fairly lascivious way. Just because you found it humorous does not mean that others will or should. And in a world of kindness and respect for others, some things should never be said, even in jest.
Heck, I thought it questioned the moral character of an entire nation-state in a hackneyed way that didn't even surprise me.
We just posted an interview with Mary Harvey, GK on the '96 Atlanta team, covering her experiences on the pitch and as a U.S. Dept. of State Sports Envoy - feedback always welcome: https://soundcloud.com/diplosport/diplosport-podcast-121-mary-harvey
Alright, so yeah I was being sarcastic on the Alex Morgan comment. I certainly never intended for anyone to be offended. My bad. Other message boards do have worse comments about athletes (especially NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, etc). I'll have to remember that this board is very sensitive to that type of sarcasm, especially if it's the #1 beloved player. Just further confirmation that the entire world will stick up for Alex Morgan. And I love it. Great defense.
Over the past few months, I keep seeing things in the news and think, "That cannot be real." But then inevitably, it turns out to be true. Here is the most recent (albeit more minor) example: Today the @POTUS announced his intention to name @CarliLloyd Member and Co-Chair, President’s Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition— The Equalizer (@EqualizerSoccer) January 18, 2017
Too late to edit, but I looked into this. (And also belatedly realized that this is referring to POTUS, not PEOTUS.) Half of the council are famous athletes named, I assume, more of as an honor than anything (ex: Drew Brees, Dominque Dawes, Michelle Kwan, Misty Copeland, Chris Paul, etc.); the program staff are more of the ones with education/expertise in the field. So not something crazy like I thought, but a big honor (in my defense, sometimes I feel like I'm living in an alternate reality these days and so much of what I hear seems crazy. Its starting to skew my perception!). So congrats to Lloyd!
Yeah, I was immediately going to ask if it was Pres. or Pres-Elec. Also, if the Pres. announced his intention, then he'd better get on with it. He's only got 2 days.
There's no confirmation needed, so I think the only thing pending for the appointment would be Lloyd's acceptance. News article on the last-minute appointments: http://edition.cnn.com/2017/01/17/politics/valerie-jarrett-obama-administration-officials-posts/
Question: why does it matter who does the appointing if the appointee is the same? Alternate question: there seems to be a different reaction based on who is doing the appointing. Why?
