Fabian Castillo deal is done. He will stay at Trabzonspor

    I called Trabzonspor keeping Castillo.

Castillo is not the problem in Trabzonspor, they don't have a Playmaking midfielder, and their backline needs serious reinforcements.

    2014 - 13g in 39 matches played (3 de Febrero, Paraguay Primera D)

    2015 - 7g in 33 matches (Nacional Asuncion, Paraguay Primera D)

2016 - 11g in 31 matches played, with only 13 starts (Nacional Asuncion, Paraguay Primera D).
Also came off the bench in 4 Copa Sudamerica matches, and scored 1 goal.

He was clearly a super sub, who is looking for more minutes.

    Consider me intrigued.

That's odd unless they have an offer for Seitz or Gonzalez. I know they need another but like last year that should be a young cheap guy.

Well, let's not forget that FCD should be swimming in TAM, GAM and other Funds.

So it could be that FCD can simply afford to pay for another solid GK, and prefers to do so, knowing the match congestion it will have to deal with next season.

Also, in last year's Superdraft, FCD went in specifically looking for a GK. Perhaps the coaching staff feels that they missed out on some talent, as a result of going in with such a narrow minded goal.
With this signing, FCD would be free to simply take the best talent available, which is exactly what it needs to do.

Yeah, I don't get that either. Actually, I don't understand ever using a precious international roster slot on a goalkeeper. Particularly a backup keeper. We just won the Supporter's Shield with Seitz for Christ's sake.

Would it shock anybody if Jesse Gonzalez was garnering interest from Mexico or interested in pursuing a starting position elsewhere? No..................................

As far as Colman, that would be a very "FCD-style" signing.

Well, Chiarini appears to be a solid backup GK, but not a starter. If we can get him cheap, we keep our River Plate pipeline open and the contacts active. I don't mind using an international spot if we've got one to use. It's a need.

I expect to see Gonzalez get more minutes this year as he matures. Seitz is still the better keeper, but I think Gonzalez has a bigger upside in the long term. I would be very disappointed to see either of them sold off unless we got Guzan-caliber quality in return. And I'd hate to use a DP slot for a goalkeeper, so I'd probably rather just keep Seitz and Gonzalez.

They left Seitz exposed to the expansion draft. Clearly they were prepared to possibly lose him & go with Gonzalez.

I think its possible that Clavijo was working some contacts a few weeks ago JUST IN CASE Seitz was selected in that draft. Then there'd be a clear need for a keeper. At least I hope he had some "irons in the fire" for that eventuality.

I'm just happy with Seitz/Gonzalez as 1/2, and then a minimum salary kind of guy for the draft (or waiver wire) as the #3. Hell, Jon Kempin was released by Kansas City. He'd be fine as a #3.

I hope Gonzalez gets some more time this season as well. We do have two CCL competitions, and the USOC. Hopefully we'll have a lot of games this season, and Jesse will get plenty of time. Last season there was an open competition in pre-season for the starting role, and Seitz won. There should be an open competition this pre-season between the two, and its possible Jesse will win.

This is the same dude that built a church rather than play pro ball when he was selected. Oh, and went to disease-ridden and dangerous Haiti to work at an orphanage. He has made helping others at the expense of his soccer career a lifestyle. This time was more on accident than on purpose, mind you, but there has GOT to be some sort of humanitarian award that the City of Frisco can give this guy in return for his broken neck.

Seems like a David Texeira-type of signing to me. Not the star #9 we want, but good depth. His goal-scoring record in South America doesn't suggest it anyway. He could come in and shine, however. You never know.

Played for the club................3 de Febrero. I always chuckle when I see that. Naming your club after a date.

I think we should rebrand FCD as March 2.

Basically, Sao Paulo has upped their offer to 1.6m, and are confident Colmán will sign with them.

Wasn't Getterson also a Sao Paulo signee who in the past had slagged the team so they tore up the offer? Not sure going after a forward Sao Paulo is interested in is a good thing from that example.

The difference being that Getterson never played above D3 anywhere. Getterson was tearing up the lower divisions, and was older.
Colmán is younger, has D1 experience, has u20 international experience, and is seen to have a good upside.

Maybe all that news about Sao Paulo being confident in signing him is old news and FCD's already swooped in and signed him. Why else would Hunt sound so confident and say the announcement is imenent.? Or maybe they resigned Kenny Cooper.

Se cae el pase de Chiarini a Estados Unidos - El Gráfico

It says that the deal for Chiarini has fallen apart.
FCD and Chiarini had agreed on everything, but Sarmiento refused to release him, and demanded a huge transfer fee.
Chiarini was pretty bummed out about the deal falling apart, saying he was excited to come to the US and the deal would have been a boon both for his career and financially.

Will be an intruiging deal if it comes together. I don't know if he's good enough................but I'm sure folks were saying that about Ola Kamara, Fenando Adi, and plenty of other forwards that have done well in this league.

Roster is coming together nicely. Just a little more cover in some positions thru the draft, and we're probably done.
