Its cool that you took time to write this review, but i do not a gree with a lot of points.

la U is deff favorites to win it if rodriguez and vargas do not live in mid year like flores and ruidiaz did last season.

Alianza is definetly not second favorite, problematic players like manco he was no involved in any scandals last season.

In my opinion melgar and cristal will be fighting for the tittle a long la U.

i would definetly not put comerciantes so up there since they lost a lot of key players and also lost their coach and will be playing sudamericana. so they will probably struggle

i would not put ayacucho fc for relegation unlike other years they atually made pretty good signing and they will be very hard to beat at home.

Cantolao hasnt produced any good players lately?

zuccar, junior ponce, nestor duarte, carlos zambrano daniel chavez, reimond manco .

    I put Melgar second?

I made a bold prediction in saying Cristal wouldn't do greatly, it was either that or Aurich getting relegated for me. I feel like with Chemo Del Solar and a squad that's good but losing its touch more and more per year it's going to be s tough year for them. If they get the rumoured Joel Sanchez and Irven Avila though my opinion will completely change.

Comerciantes was a tough one. They've lost key players but I can still see them being extremely tough to beat at home just for how difficult it is to reach a place like Cutervo.

As for Cantolao... Are you seriously comparing those players to what they have produced in the past?

Either way I appreciate you taking the time to read. Criticism is a good thing :p

Actually thinking about it, I might delete that. I feel I'm half right and half wrong. Plus Avila has just signed for Cristal so I'm now sure they won't finish there.

If Cristal who finished 1st in the acumulado was not a worthy champion then who was?

They have played in the 2014, 2015 and 2016 finals

I won't predict they will be champions (hard to say till a few games have been played) but I cant see them dropping down to 5th

I've changed my mind on 5th after todays signings.

Between Melgar and Cristal it is difficult to say who was a more worthy champion, both had dodgy runs of forms throughout the year. The fact Cristal won it showed that the standard this season was abysmal.

I'm edging Melgar as they showed more consistency throughout the year. Even with their poor start. Cristal edged a lot of results and while I'm not saying Melgar were a miracle, they were more worthy champions to me. The best team doesn't always win. Its not like Cristal walked the table.

I still doNT quite understand your logic that melgar was more consistent

They were not best in apertura (u) or Clausura (cristal) and in the acumulado they were behind cristal

So after 44 games cristal had 75 points over the 74 points from melgar - took out the 2 points gained from reserva team

Don't see how melgar was more consistent or worthy. At best they were equal

Melgar was better. I'm not in the mood to argue but you beat them by a single point in the accumulated table. Its not like you walked the league. As the saying goes, the best team doesn't always win and this applies here to me. Melgar had a few poor results at the start but never had any dodgy runs like losing several times to Muni or getting smashed at home to La Bocana. Not to mention Cristal scraped their way to the final. I'm not saying Melgar were much better in this case but at least they had a relatively comfortable lead to take to Arequipa even if they had trouble defending it. You failed to beat them over the 2 legs in the final and were second best in both legs in my opinion.

I'm not here to say you were 100 times worse than Melgar because you weren't but truth be told the fact that Cristal were champions compared to previous seasons shows how poor the standard was this season. Cristal went on a decent run at the end after being incredibly dodgy throughout and it won them the league but through the season as a whole I would have taken Melgar as the better team.

Cristal were better than La U and Muni but that's not saying much.

Edit: forgot about the reserve points. Still think Cristal weren't as consistent. Anyhow, I do retract my statements that they'll be finishing 5th. Predictions aren't easy to make though, I could end up being totally wrong

I never said we walked the league, I said that after 44 games in 2016 we were the team with the most points...by its actual format the acumulado table shows who was the most consistent team of the year, since its an accumulation of points won over 44 games...thats the team with the most points and that team was Cristal

we played the final 45 minutes with essentially 10 players and still Melgar did not create a real opportunity once...

furthermore did you even take into account that Melgar played Cristal 6 times in 2016 and only won once?

    Melgar vs Cristal in 2016

    Apertura
    Melgar 1 - Cristal 2

    Clausura
    Cristal 2 - Melgar 1

    Liguilla
    Melgar 2 Cristal 0
    Cristal 3 - Melgar 2

    Final
    Melgar 1 - Cristal 1
    Cristal 0 - Melgar 0

    6 games
    3 wins Cristal
    2 ties
    1 win Melgar

    so in summary

Cristal best in acumulado (after 44 games)
Cristal better head to head record than Melgar in 2016

so explain to me again how mighty Melgar the mighty machine of the Colca was better in 2016?

I've already given my reasons, and I stand by it. Look at the results and you'll see a lot less consistency from Cristals side. You won the accumulated table because of a few amazing runs as opposed to Melgar but you also went on some awful runs. That to me isn't consistency. Just because you finished top by 3 points does not mean you were the best team.

you dont appear to understand how league tables work....they reward consistency unlike cup formats which can be won by teams on a hot streak

    btw

Cristal and Melgar won the same amount of games (21) in the 44 game season but Melgar actually lost more games (12 vs 11)

so nope..dont see how Melgar was more "consistent".

The facts can speak for consistency, if so then fair enough.

I watched a lot of the matches though and to me Melgar were better than Cristal.

And head to head results to me don't mean much if the teams are equal on paper. Maybe in 6 yes, but I can just as easily say that La U didn't lose to Cristal this season and almost won the league, so therefore they would have been better champions. I don't think that though because I also thought we were poor and grinded out results.

Overall I just think Melgar would have been better champions. I liked what I saw from them more. You don't need to get your knickers in a twist just because I don't think your beloved Cristal were fair champions.

Teams from Lima have taken over again, just when you thought teams from provincias were establishing themselves
