Huerta, Colaprico, and Naughton are going to Adelaide, Johnson is going to Melbourne Victory, Gilliland and Hoy are going to Newcastle, and Mautz and DiBernardo are going to Perth.

Thank you. Wow, I didn't know that many. Does Dames have a connection in Australia or something?

Not that I know of, but I read somewhere that this push to get players in competitive games during the offseason was a result of how flat-footed the team started early this season with that 1-3 to Houston. Australia is just convenient for NWSL players.

That makes sense. It also would make sense for those players hoping to get call ups to the USWNT in the next couple of years leading to the next WWC.

  6. DiBernardo improved by leaps & bounds after playing in Oz. Their season also dovetails nicely with ours and the ladies earn extra income. The NWSL season seems to have plenty of breaks so that the risk of fatigue should be somewhat mitigated.

At least it was an NL-Central team ;-)

    Congrats Cubbies!

I am a lifelong White Sox fan but am happy the Cubbies won it, for Chicago! The Red Stars and Sky came close this year, too! :D

What a player. We have been fortunate in Chicago to have had her for the past few years and hope she stays a few more.

I've heard praises over the years for Summer Green. The Red Stars have no use for an International slot from what I've seen over the last couple of years. Rory like his players from close to home of which I think Green is. Born in Bloomington Illinois, I believe and lived in Michigan?

Welcome to Chicago, Summer. My gut feeling is you will be an important part of the Red Stars Championship run for 2017.

Might be time for a 2017 Red Stars thread?

Chicago has good quality at every position -- so stock up a few prospects in case of injuries or decline of key players.

Chicago's objective: Get Press and the rest of the offense to work together. I exaggerate slightly, but it seemed to me that Chicago's offense had a single objective: get the ball to Press and let her shoot. Chicago has a lot more firepower than just Press. Huerta/McCaffrey/DiBernardo/Hoy are all good offensive players.

Chicago should have scored 5-10 more goals than it did last year.
