One thing people don't appreciate enough about Yeldell is that he is one of the least scored on keepers on German history.

And at this rate, he'll stay that way!

George has 3 goals in 8 games. Regensburg has dropped off a bit and now sits in 8th.

George scored the winner in a 2-1 road win over Osnabrück today. He now has six goals in 10 matches. Regensburg are in the middle of a big scrum in the table behind MSV Duisburg.

Scored again in a 2-1 loss to league leaders MSV Duisburg. George now has 7 goals in 11 games.

    Nice run and blast.

That's a must-finish at the pro level (essentially unmarked from the top of the 18, slow rolling pass, no defensive pressure, goalie at his mercy) but he sure did hit the heck out of it.

Is there a German-speaker who can translate the very beginning of that video? I hear "enfant terrible" and "Nürnberg" while they are showing George walk around. Seems like they are talking about him.

    Cause they do.

"[The] enfant terrible of Bavarian football, no matter if Nürnberg, 1860 or Fürth. The midfielder often got into trouble, injuries came also into the equation, and only now at Regensburg he finally is showing his potential."

Thanks. I had heard that he had a bad reputation at Nürnberg.

At Fürth, he scored 11 goals for the reserve team in his first season. In his second season, he scored 14 goals in the first half of the season alone, made his pro debut in the 2.Bundesliga before the winter break -- then nothing. Not sure if he got hurt or the club got sick of him for whatever reason.

I had completely forgotten that he had a stint at 1860. I guess his zero total appearances for the club at any level were not particularly memorable. :) Transfermarkt says that 1860 dumped him after three months.

For my money, he's definitely the most interesting YA in the 3.Liga. Most players are obviously going to be lower-level lifers, but George seems to have a bit more potential if he can set aside injuries and rumored asshattery.

All his teams have been in Bavaria, right?

Yes. Next up will be Bayern, I think.

Ok, fine -- Augsburg or Ingolstadt.

OK, FINE -- Würzburg or Unterhaching

After a bit of a drought, George scored his 8th of the season in a 3-1 win over Münster. Regensburg are comfortably midtable and despite being in 11th place, they are only five points out of 3rd.

MLS should make a move for Jann and some of the other Americans in the third/second bundesliga (like Wooten, Shawn Barry, and Fafa Picault).

    Why?

And why do you think the players are in Europe in the first place??*

*Hint: It has something to do with more money

I doubt players in third Bundesliga make more than MLS players. Jann George could probably get 90-100k in MLS, at least. Second bundesliga, there might be a slight difference.

George hasn't scored since then but he's been starting (mostly) and Regensburg are up to 3rd on goal difference.

The funny (?) thing is that now Jann George is playing in the same league as Joe Gyau.
