From the story: "Illinois-born Masar, who has been in Sweden for 12 months, is not planning to return to her homeland for the next four years in a bid to miss Trump's elected term length, adding that she also holds a Canadian passport. "I went to see Therese [Sjogran, sporting director of FC Rosengard] and asked to sign on for another four years at the club so I do not go back to the U.S. with Donald Trump as president," Masar, 30, told Sydsvenskan. "I'm also happy that I even have a Canadian passport. "I’ve actually met him once. We had to go there for an Easter dinner and I thought then that he was a scary man."" She (and who?, her family?) had to go to the Trumps for Easter?
No, I think McLeod Masar and Masar McLeod jointly decided that their time in Houston was done, and they wanted to try somewhere else. It may have been wages, role, team's plans, or their desire for adventure. They signed in Sweden long before the election was an issue. If she anticipated that, she woulda bought Nvidia (NVDA) at $30 it closed at $88.05 +29.92% to rank #1 on the big gainer's list for today, and maybe for the week
I asked in the Reign thread, but maybe it'll get more "eyes" here. Does anyone know the status of Summer Green?
The NWSL need to find real revenue streams in order to increase salary especially for young non-allocated players coming out of college over the next few years. One way could be to somehow get something like MLS has with Addidas for their Generation Addidas program maybe Nike Generation or some other name. Oh, where is Jeff Plush? What is he doing? Where's the sponsorships and other TV deal he said was going to be announced? So many questions without answers
(expand Twitter thread for full context) Banter, or an actual two-team-claim conflict on a discovery player that the lower-ranked team won out? You decide: (turns in nwsl discovery player form) pic.twitter.com/X8RZ6Sxm5x— Houston Dash (@HoustonDash) December 1, 2016 (might be a good time to start a 2017 player moves thread, btw)
The information on NWSL is that if two teams claim the same player on the same day, there's a discovery order. One would assume that starts out essentially the same as the distribution/draft order. Then again the rules also say rights can't be traded yet we see that announced often as a trade before an actual signing takes place
Wow! Great! If she comes to the Red Stars, I hope she scores 10 goals a game, plays awesome defense, can dive from goal post to goal post. And can sign autographs for every little kid after every game before the Toyota Park security starts asking people to leave.
Off-season news has been pretty low-key so far. Injuries, you can stay up and watch a W-League game once a week... let's hope we're not going to be reduced to a bunch of overseas signings of USWNT players as our NWSL sauce while we wait for the draft. Yeah there has been some weird twitter back and forth involving Red Stars and initially Spirit that had people wondering about Crystal Dunn and now this business with Dash. I am ready for some real meat.
http://equalizersoccer.com/2016/12/03/alex-morgan-in-france-could-ink-deal-with-lyon/ It would be a good experience, but what do you gain bagging goals against Guingamp (the 4th place team that lost 9-1)?!?
It'll be for CL which means she'll be missing a bunch of Pride games if they go the final. So much for what they gave up to acquire her. Maybe the Krieger deal was forced to soften the blow?
Caitlin Foord is joining a growing number of Aussies who are looking to Japan (Asia) for their football. INAC Kobe offered back in 2011.— Ann Odong 🐨🇺🇬 (@AnnOdong) December 7, 2016
A lot seemed hopeful Foord would end up in Orlando once Sky Blue's rights ran out. Japan is at least much closer to home for those players.

Will be interesting to see just how much. Word on the street is that #NWSL minimum salary set for significant increase, not to be confused with an increase to a significant living— Dan Lauletta (@TheDanLauletta) December 15, 2016
This is certainly good news. Coupled with the news about the NWSL office "expanding", I'm curious where this influx of cash is coming from. Looks like the #NWSL is hiring a couple positions and the league front office is expanding - that's good: https://t.co/hYKjW1qw9Z #USWNT— Caitlin Murray (@caitlinmurr) December 14, 2016
USSF is no longer playing JK's salary! X-D Kidding aside, this could be a sign that the TV deal (which this past year was already paid-to-show instead of paid-to-be-shown) is already in the works for next year and bigger than this past year; might be that bringing Orlando on board meant there's more profit sharing (salary increases) and other dues back to the league (expanding offices); could also mean the rumor that previously allocated players are "done" with their NWSL commitments and going overseas is true, so USSF doesn't have those salaries to cover any more. Of course, could also be as simple as a new to-be-announced league sponsor, too.
