Review: 2018 WC Qualifying - Towards winning our first WC title: А дело бывало -- и коза волка съедала.

?

Netherlands will end up as nr. 1 in the group.

  1. No-brainer. Of course we will.

    23.1%
  2. If we start like the Euro 2016 qualification, no way. We will go to Russia though.

    42.3%
  3. Not even going to qualify. We do a 2002.

    34.6%

Blind continues to show that he has no clue when selecting players.
Quite simply it's not acceptable to choose players like Schaars.
Team is in desperate need of athletic performers once again.

I saw Schaars yesterday against Feyenoord and he was very good in what was the best game from the beginning of the season in the Eredivisie. It was high-level football, really: high tempo, great intensity, speed, movement, some beautiful combinations.

  3. Yes indeed. I wrote in the Feyenoord thread that this was going to be the real test, because Heerenveen has a well balanced squad with interesting players and playing well too.
Unfortunately I was proven right, but we should have buried the chances we had. This was the first match our midfield had to go to the bottom of their energysources and abilities.

I'm happy enough to see Vilhena, Kongolo and Ramselaar involved, hopefully they get decent minutes, but considering we've got Lux and a friendly, I wish there was a new face or two involved, hell, give Nouri a thoroughly unjustified call-up!

At least locking Nouri down would serve a purpose for the future hehe

Kongolo might play, I think maybe Blind will use his boy in DM since Strootman is suspended

Ramselaar was the best PSV player yesterday, he deserves to start one of the coming games with NT.

Vilhena is not good enough for me, I was happy he scored against Manchester but his whole game was average. He was running circles around Pogba in the same way Clasie does it. El Ahmadi was the one able to win challenges and give the right dynamic on the field.

Kongolo should be given a chance against Luxembourg.

That's probably the best attack line we ve had so far under Blind...Robben is here and finally no Berghuis or Narsingh

The defence is good too except for Veltman...Good that Blind called Zeegelaar instead of Willems, finally.

I don't like the midfield though, the trio Propper/Klaassen/Wijnaldum doesn't bring anything to NT but is always present.

If the Dutch with the announced roster cannot defeat Luxembourg they don't deserve to be in the WC.

Glad to see new faces like Zeegelar and Ramselaar included in the final squad.. interested in seeing what they bring to the table. Wesley Hoedt deserves a look as well, he has started every single game for Lazio in October, and seems gathering momentum with the unfortunate injury to De Vrij. The fact that out-of-form Depay and Luuk De Jong managed to sneak in is really concerning to the overall quality of the attacking force. Schaars, if nothing else, will bring leadership and be the role model to these kids. He's been professional in his time with Oranje.

Don't think the new faces will get game time unless for injury. More so formalities just to make it look good on paper .typical blind style.

    Most probably it will be

    Stekelenberg

    Karsdorp- Bruma- Van Dijk- Blind

    Wijnaldum- Schaars-Sneijder

    Robben- Janssen- promes

I also believe the line-up will be the one Wilson posted, with a doubt about Schaars/Klaassen...

Im fine with that lineup tbh (compared to past lineups) Im afraid that papa blinds tactics will have wijnaldum play as a forward without any ball contact and Sneijder as a hybrid winger/midfielder with again little ball contacts though. You know the familiar papa blind tactics of 4 attacking players planted on their backline not getting the ball or moving and zero between the lines movement and thus passing.

    -edit sorry, overlooked Stekelenberg. sigh.

Some of us have been lobbied for Zeegelar for a while. Finally he got the attention playing well in Champions League. It is good that he raised his performance and earn the first call up. I think I am ok and accept Blind as the head coach till the end of 2018 now (I'd like the next coach to be R. Koeman). I just wish that perhaps he has better assistants. I'd like to see:

    Stek/Zoet

    Karsdorp- Bruma- Van Dijk- Zeegelar

    Wijnaldum- Blind-Sneijder

    Lens- Janssen- Promes

I rest Robben as he just comes back from injury. Perhaps Robben can come in the last 10 min if he likes.

Promes may miss out with his ankle issues, also Robben may not be risked in the Belgium friendly.

The only other change I can really see Blind doing to wilsons lineup above (btw, wouldn't Schaars be a new face for Blind?) might be moving Daley Blind to DM over Schaars, and then playing Kongolo at LB.

More importantly to me, will be to see how ready are the players he uses!
And I mean ready - prepared tactically and 100% focused and ready to fight for 3 pts v Lux.

Ready prepared tactically, lets put jr blind in the DM position he hasnt played in 2 years and before that he wasnt a veteran of the position either. :D (not saying papa blind wouldnt do it because he has now proven himself blind to reason as a coach)

The game is against luxembourg, the country so cheap they copied the dutch flag but choose to spare money on a cheaper shade of blue.

--a third team of NL should roll them over. This is not iceland who are decent, luxem is genuinely terrible.

yes I agree with you, and we should roll over Greece at home as well haha
I feel like I should clarify - that lineup stuff is only what I think Blind might do

Dammit Kongolo is out, what a bummer.

Replacements for he and Promes withdrawals:
Bruno Martins Indi and Steven Berghuis

    sigh...

Seriously, I think Blind has shit in the eyes. Haps is the best leftback in the Eredivisie since the beginning of the season, and he ignores him. It was time to give him a chance.
Berghuis pffffff. He could dare a fool thing like calling Bergwijn.

Marvin Zeegelaar deserves it as he has been good esp yesterday against Arouca

Also Bas Dost with decent service can be lethal if the Dutch play with no wingers than its absolutely pointless to play him as he is more of a target man

    Highlights
    With dost 2 goals

He looks like a player that JJ loves to work with and I'm sure he'll get some game time and will start some big games already started against Dortmund

With Janssen (slight concussion), Lens (hamstring), and Schaars (calf) pulling out Danny Blind has added Fer and de Roon.
