Since it seems all but official ... A tribute to Sean Johnson.

The best player of the Hauptman era ... kicked to the curb.

I know you shouldn't cry over spilled milk, but it's just so sad.

easily the best keeper in franchise history, no disrespect to Zach.

And fvck all the naysayers and Hauptman enablers quibbling about his "distribution." Completely missing the point.

tbh, Zach is still the best, but the fact that Sean can still stand up with him as a close second (after everything Zach did and everything Sean went through): That is what makes him one of the greatest the league has had.

With the possible exception of Houston, Sean will thrive with any other MLS club.

Best of luck to you Sean.

    Zach's the best.
I have Sean second, but if someone wants to put Matt or Jon ahead of him, that's their prerogative.

    My list:

    1) Zach
    2) Sean Johnson
    3) Jon Busch
    4) Matt Pickens
5-Infinity) You tell me. You want to rank Campos, Ring, Noble, Lampson, Dykstra, Conway, and the rest? Be my guest

    Infinity plus 1) Curtis Spiteri

    5 is Henry Ring.
Everyone forgets that he made the All-Star game that year (when it still seemed to have value before this year).

    6 would be Dykstra
He was solid, but just got pushed over by Sean's amazing skillz.

    Campos takes 7th
Didn't do much but that's completely okay with me as he brought in a lot of fans.

    8th is Lampson.
He's still a decent keeper, just not the one we wanted.

    After that it doesn't matter.

on strength of accomplishment, I'd agree.

The eyetest tells me SJ was way more athletic and a better pure shot stopper. Put him behind the same teams that Zach played for, he's probably got more shutouts than Nick Rimando. (okay, that's exaggerating - I don't really think SJ would have 18 shutouts a year. Let's say, more shutouts than Joe Cannon).

And Maybe under Bradley/Shore instead of Hauptman/Revolving Door; SJ actually grows into a Nats stalwart.

I always felt bad for Spiteri. One start while the rest of the team took the day off, and your MLS career is over.

Yeah, but he was decent not good.
I never said he wasn't third string material.

    Sean Johnson was second.

McLain has the second worst GAA in Fire history, next to Curtis Spiteri.

    Spiteri
    1 game, 45 minutes 4 saves, 6 goals given up, 12.00 GAA

McLain has played in three games (2 starts, 214 minutes played) in his MLS career and given up an amazing 9 goals.
    Fire 1 game 3 goals
Chivas (2013) 3 games (1 start) 6 goals given up.
He has given up more goals than he has saves.

Then he probably shouldn't be rated, even at 8th.

Truth be told, they were probably about even, Zach had a better team in front of him, without question

    Fair enough.

I met Zach several times and he was always incredibly nice.
I imagine the same would be true of Sean Johnson, but I have never met him.

Jigglys weird obsession with Lampson is creeping me out.

Curtis Spiteri is better than Lampson
