Actually, it is figuratively made for indoor soccer. Literally would mean that the politicians who built it were planning all along to have an indoor soccer team there. Sorry of the English teacher in me coming out.
Comets Open House meet & greet last night. Rumor has it that: Boris Pardo is supposedly going to San Diego. Max Touloute to Ontario. Negotiations with Kevin Ten Eyck broke off. Brian Harris not back and looks doubtful. Comets going with Allen and Pattersen in goal.
Chicago's new GM (who once worked for a company that sponsors Manchester United, but who did not actually work for Manchester United, though he probably has seen Manchester United on television) says they aim to average 11,000 a game. Fun Fact 1: no indoor team has averaged 11,000 a game since 1987-88, when Cleveland and Kansas City did it. Fun Fact 2: The Sears Centre's indoor soccer capacity is 9,400.
Well damn.. From the looks of this it very well could be a Baltimore Blast "home" game at the Farm Show Of course there could be a HUUUUUUGE walkup still ! http://hh1.glitnirticketing.com/hhticket/web/stadiumg.php?event_id=41&status_id=2&refresh=1476890143
I didn't, but it doesn't look like many have been sold yet. And no, I live in Milwaukee and my friend is getting married that weekend, so I won't be there.
Claiming that you will draw 2000 more fans a game than your arena actually holds. Hyperbole to the extreme. If they could draw 3K a game that would be more reasonable. Not sure what they drew last year
To be fair, I would be surprised if he knew either of those facts. Aspirations are fine. It's not necessarily his job to know the last team to average 11k or what the arena - which does seat 11k+ for concerts - seats for indoor. It just can't be done. It's not like we are in an environment where good teams and organizations are averaging 12-14k and they are aspiring to go from 7k to 11k. We are in an environment where most teams can't sell 4k and only a handful can even do 5 or 6k.
Side note about buying Blast tickets. I hate Ticketmaster. Hate hate hate Ticketmaster. $19 tickets, with $16 in fees. Thank goodness there is Groupon, $15 for tickets.
You can call the Blast office and avoid those fees , They will even leave your tickets at will call for you.
You're going to miss all the excitement of a Banner dropping in Baltimore and 1500 Kids walking around the floor LOL
Interesting fact about the new GM http://www.chicagotribune.com/subur...-swindler-sentencing-0908-20160907-story.html
Um, any background checks happening here? The best and brightest coming to the MASL teams! In this case, it is a team who didn't vet this guy or bought the 'I can explain everything ' story. In any case, the Mustangs would be wise to keep this guy away from company credit cards and the cash raffles.
Looks like Touloute and Pardo officially signed with SD yesterday, according to the MASL transactions. With also Ten Eyck and Harris not returning to the Comets should make things very interesting in the Central this season.
Cedar Rapids Rampage has brought in Mark Litton as their new assistant coach/goalkeeper coach. Mark spend 10 seasons with the Milwaukee Wave as an asst/gk coach under Keith Tozer, winning 3 championships during his time in Milwaukee.
