I'd like to report a racist post against Italians in the politics thread: You could see the totality of the racism here in the attached thread. http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads...at-have-we-done.2035502/page-13#post-34635426 If this is allowed then what my good friend Sal did shouldn't be considered racist. A yuuuge double standard here. Either @superdave should be banned or Sals ban should be revoked.
Context matters. If you have a problem with a post, report it. Don't start a thread about it in a completely different forum.
Lol No it doesn't. Racism is racism. He was insulting Italians. And I'm starting this thread to point out the double standard. If you have a problem, become a mod and delete it.
As we determine "race", they're all the same. That is, unless you're working with the pre-WWI definition of Italians in the US, when they weren't white/Caucasian, in the racial calculus of the US, yet.
So, Mr. Warmth, like I said...not possible to be racist or prejudiced against Italians then, is that right? So in your world you fight racism with racism. Impressive.
If you're racist against Italians, you're racist against pretty much all ethnic Caucasians, because that's what they are. "Italian" is a sociopolitical group, not a race or ethnicity. So, 1) You admit Sal is being racist 2) You still fail to grasp that Italians are not a race As for combatting racism, both David and I have tried prayer and logic and that doesn't seem to work against ignorance and prejudice, so, I'm personally all for throwing racists off of bridges so that they can evolve wings and fly
The district attorney & police determined it was justifiable homicide under the state's "stand your ground" law. Charges were never filed.
I have edited the original pots and contacted the poster. The post now reads "posters form the Italy forums" instead of Italians. Context does matter, and this reference to the folks from that forum who did indeed exhibit that posting style/behavior are still accounted for. I will also be chatting with superdave offscreen here. That's a courtesy we extend to many posters whose initial post is of the less "fragrant foul" sort of variety. Some people accept that and move on, while others double (or triple, or quadruple) down on the behavior in the first place. In the future, if you are indeed concerned about something in real time, then a report is a good approach. I did not read the debate thread last night but was monitoring for reported posts, and a thread here in Customer Service is much less likely to be seen right away. It's totally fine to do it here if you'd prefer, just please remember it'll be up to a day before it is seen.
I would expect a saucier response from a "real Italian". Are you mixed? Chicago is not the American Steppe, where I am
Would you like me to type slower? This isn't World Rivalries, so I'll pass on the batting practice, but suffice to say, the fortnightly "Free Sal" threads just sort of aren't that interesting anymore.
