I know it's a pretty safe assumption, but has Columbus officially been announced as the site of this match?

I haven't seen any announcement, but it would be pretty amazing if they put that game anywhere else. "Sorry, Columbus, you've had the home WCQ against Mexico for the last four cycles and we won dos-a-cero every time, but now we're moving the game somewhere else." Really? It's kind of inconceivable that this game would be somewhere else.

Doug McIntyre claimed Sunil gulati told him the game would be in Columbus

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...qualifying-road-to-russia-for-2018-world-cup/

Near the end of his postgame press conference late Tuesday, Jurgen Klinsmann was asked if there was any doubt that Columbus, Ohio, would host the U.S. national team’s World Cup qualifier against Mexico this fall.

“I have no doubt,” he said, “but the president is sitting behind you.”

From the third row of the EverBank Field auditorium, U.S. Soccer Federation boss Sunil Gulati said of himself: “He has no doubt either.”

Columbus, here we come. Not officially. Not yet, anyway.

How would one get tickets to this game? Is there a pre-sale for MLS season ticket holders, fancy credit card holders, Copa Americana ticket purchasers, or something like that?

Tickets will be sold through ticketmaster, with USSC members and AO members getting first crack. Lottery for sure, then to general public. I do believe Crew season ticket holders also get first crack as well.

Just don't resell it to anyone wearing a green shirt. Ha.

USA members and ao will get a code of some kind. Crew season holders will likely get a chance to buy a set number.

Usually by that point there isn't much left.

No codes this year. Everything is a lottery. Weighted lottery, but still a lottery.

Looking forward to an informational email from USSSC with instructions on how to enter the weighted lottery.

From http://www.ussoccer.com/usavmextickets, I gather that US Soccer will sell tickets through its Ticketmaster Account Manager rather than through ticketmaster.com.

Mobile tickets only. What a drag. Not everyone has a mobile device. We are covered with a work issued tablet. Still a cell phone free household.

so if you get lucky and win the AO lottery and the general ticket lottery, you are basically stuck with extras due to the mobile ticketing?

I may sound like an old man but I like having ticket stubs to remember the game by.

Yeah I was wondering the same. I'd like to enter the lottery and my brothers want to go to but we don't want to have to buy 9 tickets.

During the Copa America I was able to email ticket master and ask for my mobile tickets to be exchanged for "real" tickets waiting for me at will call.
I hope I can do similar for these.

I don't even have a flip phone. Landline only. Thanks for the cold beer offer and the one for Jacksonville as well. We didn't make it to the AO tailgate area there.

If we win the ticket lottery, we'll be in Columbus. F mobile tickets. I've made it past 50 without a cell phone and the lack of one is an issue less than once a year. Sometimes I pity the digital natives who can't function without a phone telling them what to do.

Most sites print you a little ticket stub so you know where your seat is.

Every mobile platform ever has had these. Can't imagine us soccer won't.

This is all about thwarting ticket brokers.

If transferring is too difficult, it could be a mess. I imagine that there will be couples (or groups of 4 or whatever) who both enter the lottery for two tickets to increase their chances of one of them winning, and some of them ending up with four tickets when they need two. AO normally sets up a face-value members-only exchange, so hopefully that will still be possible.

The bootleg way to deal with this is to screenshot the mobile ticket and email the image file. I don't know if there's tech to thwart this. You also have to trust that the original ticketholder won't use the original image, but I suppose that's also the case when you pass PDF files around.

I already have purchased my flights. If I don't have lottery success I'll go anyway and take my chances.
