Second in USL with 8 assists. Also has three goals. Not cap-tied to Belgium, which makes me assume they are okay with him playing for the US..? Has anyone watched him this year? I haven't kept up with him at all.

I think he's featured for Bulgarian youth teams, don't know that he has any connection to Belgium. I haven't had the chance to see him play in quite some time, but he should come home to San Jose, we're in desperate need of any player who can score a goal

I've seen him a couple times when T2 played Sacramento. He stands out as probably being the best player on a really poor T2 side, but it's hard to gauge his ability when the team around him is so disjointed. Good touch, and his movement gives defenders fits but his teammates often don't see him.

T2 is probably as good as any other USL team talent-wise, but team chemistry is poor, possibly because of constant lineup changes. The team has used 33 players this season and it looks like no one has started more than 20 of the 29 games they've played. Bijev is one of only four players who have played more than two-thirds of the minutes.

But the poor overall team chemistry makes Bijev's season stats (currently 6 goals and 9 assists) a little more impressive.

Cap'n Jack Jewsbury's impending retirement might open up a slot in Portland's midfield for 2017.

Bijev is more of a wide player, no?

And is he sufficiently foreign for Portland? There's the Bulgaria thing, but he's from Fresno, which could be disqualifying.

Well, I wasn't suggesting that he would necessarily be an out-and-out replacement for JJ. (Who could ever replace JJ?) Just that he's a midfielder, and a domestic player, and that they have room for one. But, fair points of course.
