What, Beatriz wants to punish me for deeming her useless!

Well, so I have to play on that: all of Brazilian are unable to score! Did you hear, god of the jinxing spells? :D

79' 1-2 Brasil left throw-in at 9m, drops over a back-header try at mid-left (untouched?), bounces to 8m left post. Beatriz backs up from 6m, perfect left instep settle-touch down into wheelhouse, instant spin-and-shoot across mouth, bounces into right side netting.

How stupid by Rafaelle to run into Labbé there. You just know the keeper will stay down "injured" with any contact.

Wrong. Erika's time wasting was much more costly. It caused more stoppage time to be added, in which Wambach scored. Solo's antics, while silly, did not influence the result.

Well, at least Brazil finally scored a goal. A shame they could not perform better in the knock out stages.

Congrats to Canada. I am sorry for Brazil, an entertaining technical team who somehow can't convert (sometimes reminds me a little of my Japan in the last times).

When does the gold match start? About an hour from now?

You clearly haven't watched her play.

See what Mia Hamm has to say about her today.

<edit> oh, I see you have.

In a couple of hours: 16:30 ET. (Is that 21:30 or 22:30 there?)

Congrats to my CDN girls. Employed the high pressuring tactic that also allowed them to beat BRA in the Algarve final. The young ones really stepped up. Future looks really good. Something tells me that watching the gold medal game is going to be about as exciting as watching paint dry.

I should be able to watch other Olympic sports meanwhile. :giggle:

starting Debinha, Poliana & Andressina would of been a better option for Brazil. Once again I do believe Ashley Lawrence was the dominant player of the game; she haunted Marta through out with her rugged defense and still had enough energy to race down and set up the first goal. If only they took stats on who had the most tackles in the tournament, I bet she would be the leader

Hey, I am watching water-polo too, but on the other side! :devilish: all of my teams have to lose today?

(Not really: Italy just beat USA in volleyball's semifinal, tee-hee :p).

if Germany beats Sweden in regular time, than I do believe Canada really was the 2nd best team at the tourney. Rose was impressive in an earlier friendly this year vs Netherlands, and they even have a faster wide player in Prince, who Canada has only use sparingly so far, but obvious will move up to starter once the older vets retire. My pick for mvp of the tourney, Lawrence, had another strong game, especially since she marked Marta right out of the game.

Indeed, the future does look bright for Canada!

Turns out this was a lie, based on more American bigotry. Great to get this lecture from a jackass

There are jack asses everywhere. Every country has them and I try not to judge a whole country (mine included) and their fans based upon the actions of a few idiots or a few drunk swimmers. As a CDN I will remember how well the BRA fans after the game applauded my team and how thousands of them stuck around to see them presented with their bronze medals. Very gracious of them. And for all of the stuff we all heard pre the start of these Olympics, BRA really did an amazing job of hosting. Hats off. As for my girls how about Sincy "Captain Canada"? She had lost her father just a few months ago and this was all kept hush, hush in order to respect her privacy. This game was her 250th cap and she scores the winning goal and wins a second bronze medal. She is a national treasure to us. Long live Sincy!

A++++! If there is an award for best player, it goes to Christine. She is a national treasure to us (USA) too, and with character and talent combined is as great a player as there's ever been.
